The weather seems to match the mood within the small village, gray clouds hanging over head and threatening to rain. The alpha is dying, and he had born no children to carry the title. Despite the grief at losing a cherished leader however, the residents of the village also feel hopeful. With no alpha heir apparent their god would once again come among them. The god, King of the forest was the one to give the people the ability to take a lupine form. However, through the generations the ability had become less and less.
As his last act of leadership the Alpha had ordered that the village prepare for the coming of the god. Part of which entails picking a mate for the Wolf King to sire the next alpha with.
Quickly a pair of hunters made their way back to camp, an unconscious female carried in the follower’s arms. They had found her in the woods near the stream. She looked to be scratched up and perhaps a bit malnourished, but beyond that appeared to be fine. The hunters had tipped their heads back in a howl, knowing a sign when they come across one.
They brought the young woman to Mother Gretel, the healer of the village. She banished the two of them outside of her simple house will she looked over the poor dear. “Anna, fetch some water for her. She may be thirsty when she wakes,” the elder healer directs. Gently she placed an ear to the woman’s chest to see if anything else is wrong with her.
