It has been three weeks since Heather had found this haven. At first look, this place was nothing but an abandoned saloon, absent of either supplies and any useful item. However, if one spent her time searching this place with a keen eye, there may be something more than this wrecked place. Beyond the common room, in the backroom of the saloon, Heather has found a latch to a basement that was at first covered by kegs of alcoholic beverages. Inside the basement, she found plentiful of food and water that can last her for over 3 months if she rationed them wisely. She wondered at first how such room even exists. Does the one who originally hide this basement know that there was going to be an outbreak? But then she decided not to complain at her fortunate event.
Heather has always moved from place to place in the past years. Hoping to find a permanent place to stay. All this travelling and sneaking around from flesh eating zombies have become tiresome. The outbreak began in the most inappropriate time. While her parents are away, things that once looked like men and women have come to her hometown and devoured all that they can. She tried waiting for her parents to come back, but after three days, she has no choice but to leave. Eighteen years old and alone, she had fend for herself since.
This saloon was the first break she have got after such a long time. She occasionally came upstairs when the coast is clear. Watching the horizons for events worth noticing or to just breathe the fresh air. She has stumbled upon survivors before, male survivors, but decided that it will be foolish to come and introduce herself when they are pillaging and looting. They'll probably kill her for her belongings or worse. She was smart enough to avoid all of them and decided that it is better to survive alone. She had never seen female survivors though and is willing to make a special case for them. Besides, she has grown weary of this solitude.
Deeply sighing, she stared out through the boarded windows.
You can't be too careful. She thought to herself.
