Place: Small town village

It was the middle of fall, the leaves had turned into a symphony of reds, golds, and orange. The harvest was in full swing as a village was preparing for the harsh winter months ahead. The sun was high, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, the villagers were merry and happy, the sounds of children playing could be heard throughout the town. By all accounts it was a happy time and it should have been as well, but there are other things out in the wilds surrounging the village that were also preparing for winter. Dark, mysterious things that fed off of fear, and flesh.

Several hours later the full moon was high, the village was silent and the forest unaturally so. The creatures of the forest knew that something old, and dark walked this night and hid to avoid its attention. At the edge of the village it stoped, a massive black shape with glowing yellow eves filled with hate. It stood from a four leged postion to a 9 foot tall standing position. It rose its head and in defiance of the village below sang a howl to the moon. Bounding forward it launched into the village causing mayham and destruction, purposefully waking the town and as the men rallied to face this unknown threat it crashed into them defying their blades, and tearing flesh apart. By the end of it one man was missing, one was wounded and would die within hours, and 4 others would be badly injured.

As it raced away with its kill it looked back at the town and a dark grin rose from it, this was just the first night of many to come. It would be many weeks of this before the village would be through.

After the third night of the beasts raiding a lone villager upon their fastest horse races to the city but a few days away to seek help with whomever would supply it. Suddenly the beast races out of the forest and kills the rider. This is his village and he will not let anyone have it but him thought the great beast, and silently returned to the forest leaving the rider to die. As he laid in the road the rider prayed for somone to help, it would not be long before the village was destroyed by this beast, then as the light fades from his eyes he spies a lone figure coming down the road and hope fills his last moments on this earth.

The woman who walked down the road may not have been exactly what the villager had hoped for. She wasn't very tall or big, a little over 5 feet tall when she stood up strait, but one look at her showed you that she lived a life that was hard. Her muscles were toned from constant walking and the use of a bow, any remaining fat worked away by living in the forest most of the time. There was a sharp look to her blue eyes as she watched the forest around her. On her back was a quiver of arrows, with some with silver tips to them but most normal, one couldn't be too careful in these parts. There were rumors of wolves in the woods, rumors she intended to find out if they were true.

She had to dodge out of the way as a horse with a saddle bolted past her and she frowned. The fear in it's eyes and the blood on it's flank was enough to know that something bad had happened to it's rider. Picking up her pace she came around the bend and saw the dying villager in the middle of the road. Quickly she broke out into a run to see if there was a chance, how ever slim that she could help him. As she approached she could see the pool of blood and the bite wounds of something big and wild. As she knelt next to the man she checked his pulse to see if there was anything she could do to save him.

The beast stared from the safety of the shadows hidden and silent ready to pounce on this new arrival when suddenly the winds shifted and her scent came to him. This one smelled not of sweat, nor of shit, but of the sweet smells of the forest, and the smoke of wild fires kept tame. No this one was different, and with its keen eyes it spied the silver tiped arrows. That sealed it, this one was of the hunt, a deeper scenting also told him that this one had met the children of the hunt, his children sometime in her past. It wasn't just a child of the hunt but a hunter of the hunt, a title that brought bothe rage and excitement to him. This one he would let into the village, and there the true fun will begin, but first he had to prepare. After all one so exalted as this female deserved a proper reception and with that he let loose a mighty howel that would have shatered the nerves of even the bravest of knights and bounded away faster than any wolf or beast.

As he bounded away the other wolves of the forest took up the call leaving an eery silence. This was the true call of the hunt, the call of the king of wolves, and a signal that the hunt was to begin. It would be night before he returned with his pack and there he waited outside the village seeking out this new prey.

It took only a glance to realize that the man was dead by the jaws of a wolf. Then she heard the howl and all the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. In an instant she was standing again with a knife in her hand, the rumors had been true it seemed. There was a man eater on the lose in this area, and with out proper training these villagers stood no chance. She stood like that perfectly still till the echos of the howls had faded to nothingness, only then did she kneel to close the dead man's eyes and continued on her way to the village.

When she got there she could almost smell the fear in the air. Humans weren't used to being the ones hunted and knowing that one was pray never sat well. Finding a room at the inn she waited out the rest of the day trying to gather as much information as she could from the villagers. As the sun began to set she turned her eyes to the forest. It was not her way to let her prey come to her, but in the night when the wolf had the advantage there was strength in numbers. She waited with the defenders of the village, her bow strung and at the ready. While they waited below she took up a spot on the roof so she could see both the forest and more of the ground, waiting for the wolf to once more attack.

The air was tense with the sense of coming battle as the two forces waited out for the first move. It started with a howl filling the black night of the new moon. A howl that vibrated through the air and was answered back by the call of the hunt and the children of the moon. But out of all of the howls one stood out clearly challenging the humans into combat and more importantly stealing their courage. In an instant a small group bolted for the trees hoping to escape the howels, and only to be felled once they entered into the forest out of reach of the hunters arrows. Their screams filled the night then silence once again filled the night.

Wolves are of two things, one is they are creatures of the hunt, and the second is they hold a pack mentality. They do not fight, they hunt, and a smart hunter does not attack a guarded enemy, instead they draw attention away from others to strike, and strike they did. Suddenly with most everyones attention focused on the howels, and the screams of the men, at the opposite end of the village with everyone distracted a family was attacked and quickly slaughtered. The man and the woman were slaughtered, but the children were taken in defiance of man.

The beast would not engage where the enemy held advantage, his wolves were weak against the weapons of man and the hunter was most likely skilled in combat, no he would have to intervene and that would put her sights directly on him. What he needed was a way to separate her from the village and the children, even now crying out and screaming as they were taken deeper into the forest would act as the perfect bait. Whether the villagers joined her or didn't wouldn't matter in night or day the forest was his territory and his wolves could take care of the villagers easily. With that done and his plans set into motion he stepped out of hiding to quickly and defiantly reveal himself to the hunter. His form was impressive, he was a true son of the moon, a creature with a long muzzle filled with pure whit razor sharp teeth, his form even with his black fur could be seen as being covered in muscle. He was a horrid beast that was a mingling of both the human and wolf forms with the wolf the more dominant of the two. He glared with his glowing yellow eyes and howled once in victory and quickly retreated into the dark shadows of his forest to await his prey.

The huntress had been attempting to pick off the wolves that she would be able to see, but stopped when she saw him step out into the light. Her breath caught slightly in her throat, and a chill ran down her back as she finally got a look at her foe. She had hunted wolves and werewolves in the past but none like him. She may have finally met a wolf who could beat her.

Her moment of fear and doubt was broken by the howl and she released her arrow. It hissed through the air and stuck out of the wall where he had just been standing. Narrowing her sharp blue eyes she stored her bow and began the chase, leaping from roof to roof till she got to the last house then climbed down. Staring out into the dark forest ahead of her she frowned. The sound of screams still filled the air along with the hows of wolves at the hunt. Glancing over her shoulder the frown deepens. "I'm sorry." Her voice was barely a whisper before she plunged head long into the woods in pursuit of her pray.

It wasn't hard to find his tracks, a wolf that size. The trail was fresh, and even with a dark forest she was confident that she could follow it. Pulling her bow once more she knocked one of her silver arrows, preparing to shoot at the slightest hint of the werewolf.

The forest was filled with a dark malice that seemed to chill the air and stick to her bones. The trees creaked and groaned without the wind, this was an old forest one that detested her very presence and seemed to grow in its hate for her as she went.

Upon entering the woods the rest of the wolves circled her, but always stayed out of range of her blades, and moved between the trees preventing her from getting a clear shot. The beast knew that although deadly in the open the bow was not a forest bow, and would require an expert shot. Even if she was luck and random obstacles would hamper her greatly and with his speed and agility would only further enhance him. Even now he could tell she tracked him, but little did she kow he was in fact tracking her. But for the moment she was merely following the sounds of the crying and screaming children and his tracks, and that was all he required of her. Though this did give him the chance to observe her more closely and upon looking on her form, at how she moved, and kept at the hunt he felt a surprising urge, one he thought long extinguished by time. This one he thought would do better than just food or game, this one he would make his mate. With that final thought he let his presence fill the forest, his hunger and his lust encompased all within the forest, and he followed the girl to wait and pounce once she located the children and was distracted.

The woman squared her shoulders as she walked through the forest. Even one without her skills would be able to tell that humans were not welcomed in the old forest, but there were so few of them left she did not begrudge it its hate. Then she saw the wolves circling and frowned. Having a werewolf in their midst always made the pack smarter, but to have them work with tactics that kept them safe was more disturbing than she had words for. As she pressed on the sounds of the people grew louder as she sped up her pace. There was still a chance that the people could be saved. He was close, she could sense it, he was not trying to hide from her, which should have been a warning of what was going on. She didn't understand the warning though, there was something off to his presence, something that she had never felt when hunting. There were the howls of the hunt, full of hunger and blood lust, but there was something under them that she could not recognize.

Then she found the children and surged forward. It seemed like a few of them were alive, how they survived to get this far into the woods was anyone's guess. "Get behind me." She barked the order at them, her voice gave no chance for argument. She tightened the grip on the bow as she waited for one of the wolves to mess up, then she would have them.

Ooh this one was smart, this one was fast, she just kept on proving herself more and more to be a perfect mate. Nine times had others entered his forest and nine deaths had fed the forest and proved his superiority. This one though was already far superior, she held the blood, however faint of the old world. A time before time, when the forest was young and so was he, a time when the children of the moon were welcomed and even worshiped. Though those days were past, but the places of their power remained. That was this such place, protected and guarded by all of the forest. This was a moon touched place, a place where his power was greatest, even on the new moon. It is here that the wolves gathered encircling the group but holding position, unnaturally silent.

He steped forward and in a single moment his first form, one of a striking, if smaller 6 foot man stood covered in the furs of the great wolves of legend. Then in a blink as fast as the change occured, he returned and stood facing the woman. He watched her and signaled to the children whom immediately grew silent, eyes widening, and faces glowing as if lit up by a full moon and walked standing between the beast and the woman. He exerted more of his will letting his desires bathe all in its power. The huntress especially could feel the hunger, and joy of the hunt, especially the lust for power and flesh. All she had to do was surrender to it and it promised to reward her.

The woman had to suppress a shiver. Everything about this was unnatural, and all her senses were screaming at her to get away. Even so she stood her ground. A chill ran down her back as the man stepped out and stood before her. He was a head taller than her, but the way he stood and how he was dressed stirred something in her. There were not many men who understood the hunt, and most of those were not looking for someone to hunt with, especially a woman. Then he shifted and she raised her bow, finally having a clear shot, before she realized what the children were doing. In horror she watched them move towards the beast.

As his power reached her her bow lowered slightly, but then quickly returned to it's position. She could understand most of what she felt, though the lust was new. there was never any lust in all the other hunts, just hunger, blood, and death. Meeting the beasts eyes she held her ground a minute more. "Will you leave the children and the village alone?" She asked, her back strait, not one to give in easily, or without a promise.

A series of chuffs escaped his maw, a sound almost like a growl untill she realized it was in fact him laughing. Then he reverted to his human form, he would not call it his true form as that was the form of the wolf. "I only hunt when nessicary, I am only completing an age old contract between me and the villagers. Even if they do not remember, I do, the forest does, the beasts do, and most importantly mother moon." he said in a voice low and gutteral as though unused to speaking. He moved around the outside of the clearing, the children following, always between him and the woman. Then with an exertion of his will he began to weaken the strength of her fingers.

"I am wolf, I am beast, and I am old, the children were brought here, by me, but they are called by the moon, as have all the children of the village, since time was time. The only difference is the villagers had turned from mother moon, her call is not as powerfull as it once was. So she called her first son, her true son, to bring the children here and to punish them as was decreed since the deal was struct. The children have been touched and will now return to the village once the night is through, whether I continue my assaults is entirely up to you."

Suddenly as the strength of her fingers were imperceptibly weakened he exerted his full will and the last remaining strength of her fingers released the arrow. It sailed as though in slow motion and then droped as all the power driving it was striped away. Should she check her blades and the points of the other arrows she would find them dulled, no longer able to pierce.

He smiled and an after image of the beast showed itself instead "the moon mother would never let me be harmed, especially not here, you are at my mercy, you have no power here, but that which mother moon grants you." Suddenly despite the cycle of the new moon, a full moon appeared in the night sky and shone itself onto the huntress, and new power flowed through her. But almost blindingly bright it shone upon the man as well and he cocked his head almost like he was listening to somone, and indeed he was for a beautiful if unintelligible voice filled the clearing. "The mother has granted my request, I will leave the village alone, the children will be safe, but under one condition, you must become my mate, stay with me, and become a true member of the hunt. Leave the world of man and join the world of the beast."

She watched in fascination as once more the beast in front of her changed back into a man. On all her other hunts it was only the wolf that she met and hunted, never once seeing the man he could be. Then a shiver crawled up her back when she heard his voice. The sound struck a chord with her, but she didn't have long to contemplate it before she felt her fingers began to ache as the string began to become harder to hold. Her eyes began to widen as she realized that if she released it was very likely she would hit the children and not her. Still she tracked his movements with her bow, listening to his words.

Her mouth opened to respond to him but before she could speak her fingers slipped. "No!" She gasped and lunged forward, only to watch the arrow lose all speed and drop harmlessly. Pulling out her knife to protect herself she noticed that it seemed dull, almost useless. Then she saw him smile and squared her shoulders, preparing for the worst but it didn't come. A soft glow bathed her and she looked up at the full moon. Suddenly she didn't feel as helpless anymore and the fear gripping her soul lessened. Her gaze drifted down to the man but she almost had to shield her eyes to see him.

For the first time that night the woman looked truly shaken and unsure. "You wish me to become your mate?" Carefully she looked around the clearing at the wolves, then back to him. "To stay here?" She took a step towards him. "And they will be safe, until the next time they must fulfill the contract?"

Ahhh, she was slipping, her will was degrading, her questions were signs of somone seeking any kind or reason. It truly amazed him what a human would do in order to save face. "The contract was never fulfilled, the contract required a sacrifice, and depending on the sacrifice would affect the village. For the last decade they have ceased to provide any sacrifice, and for decades before their sacrifices were more and more meaningless. The events here were to teach a lesson, I will send the children back. No harm will come to them, and the contract will be voided all you have to do is agree." he paused for a moment before continuing "but are you sure that you want the contract to be voided? In exchange for the sacrifice the moon mother provided warm winters, cool summers, wet seasons, and the protection against enemies. I can void the contract or keep it, but I promise that for now untill the mother deems it so no harm will come upon the village or these children."

As he spoke he continued to circle her and slowly draw closer untill he was speaking practically in her ear and was drawing a line down her back with a single clawed finger. "Join me, join the hunt, join the mother and you will find yourself in a world of greater joys, and hardships that only the forest, only the hunt can provide. Let the wolves, and the pack become your brothers and sisters, let me become your lover, mate, and husband and you will find true safety and true love here." He stoped trailing his finger up and down her back and backed away from her, leaving the clearing and heading deeper into the forest. "The decision my dear is all up to you."

"If they have forgotten their side of the contract, perhaps they have forgotten what the contract is for." She points out standing still, instead of tracking him, letting him circle her for once. Her head was still held high when he reached her, though her whole body shivered when she realized just how close he was. Then he touched her and she jumped, her heart beating hard and fast. As he spoke her breath sped up, her will crumbling more with each word and pass of his claw. When he backed away she pulled in a small breath, and swayed ever so slightly.

Turning around she watched him head further into the forest, and followed after him without even thinking. Following something or someone was what she did best, though this time the intent was different. She had lived a life mostly in the forest for many years, and as each year passed she had less and less holding her to the human world. The choice was easy, the hunt was what she loved, the hunt was what she was good at, and to be mate to a werewolf like him. Ducking under a branch she sped up in hopes to catch him.

He could hear her as she tried to keep up to him and it brought a smile to his lips. She had chosen to come and join the hunt, to be his mate, and to stay with him for the rest of her days. The wolves of the forest danced and ran all around them. The forest was alive this night, alive with a new energy. When first she entered the forest refused her, and given the chance would have found a way to destroy her. Though on this night, it changed, it welcomed her, and rewarded her. All around her the creatures of the night came to life, spreading their life force throughout the forest. Yes some were slain and eaten, but such was the nature of things, and it made the old forest seem young again. The man picked up his pace untill he was running, his form changed and he became the wolf once more. He ran and leapt through the forest leaving the woman behind, and for a moment even his tracks seemed to dissapear untill he came up behind her and playfully nuged her, and guided her to a new clearing.

This clearing was old, older than the other, an energy seemed to permeate the air, a light seemed to gently illuminate the grass which was softer, almost like a mother birds soft down. Here the air was warmer, and beautiful flowers bloomed despite the late season. Suddenly here the wolf turned back into a man and turned to her. "Here is a special place, a place deep in the heart of the forest, here all life began for the trees and the beasts. This is a special place, a secret place, no one but us and the forest must know of it. Here is where mother moon and father sun first steped foot and breathed life into this forest. It is also where father sun banished mother moon, and where she first brought life to her greatest children the wolves. It is a sad place, but an even greater joyous place. It is here that we will complete our pact as mates." With that he gently wraped his arms around her waist and leaned down to kiss her lips, first gently, and then with passion as his tongue beged for entrance to her lips.

When she relized that she couldn't catch him at her pace she pushed herself faster. Now instead of smothing going through the forest she felt branches and underbrush catch at her. A grin filled her face as she saw the wolves around her, and felt the forest welcome her. Looking she watched an owl fly with her and she pushed herself faster. She was no longer a loner with no pack or place, she had found a home. When his tracks changed she tried to keep up, but soon she lost his trail. Slowing down she frowned, till she felt the nudge and jumped. He had won the chase this time, and she let herself be lead into the clearing.

As she entered the clearing she gasped at the beauty around her and looked around as he spoke. She only turned back to him when he wrapped his arms around her, finally capturing her and ending the hunt. He had caught her, and now they would hunt together till the end of her days. Pressing her own lips against his, she wrapped her own arms around him, her fingers burying themselves in the pelt on his back. She enjoyed the warm safety of his arms around her, and the feeling of his body up against hers. When she felt the tongue she parted her lips, allowing him to explore further. Slowly her blue eyes shut as she breathed in his sent, the sent of the forest, blood, and lust, and sighed happily.

He had enjoyed their little game, but now was the time for something greater. As he kissed her his hands began to move caressing her body and exploring her curves. His hands made trails along her hips, her back, and playfully groped and caressed her ass. His hands stoped their playfull exploration of her backside and trailed back up to her back so that he could press her closer to him and also so she may feel his need and desire for her.

He then broke off the kiss and smiled mischiviously at her and quickly slung her over his back, like raiders of old would when abducting young maidens. With one arm holding her securely on his shoulder, his other hand gently patted her rear. He took her to the very center of the clearing and laid her gently on the soft forest floor, with the care of a lover and not just some beast. He leaned down over her and returned to kissing her fiercly and passionately, and so did his hands return to exploring her body and curves. He gently started with caressing her neck, but his hands trailed downwards to massage and caress her breasts, playing with her nipples before returning to their journey. They kept going softly stroking over her stomach, and nearing her lower lips. Where they stoped just above and he released her from the kiss and leaned back up. With a shrug and a shift in his weight the pelts fell away from his body revealing his full hard chiseled body for her to see. "Are you ready my dear, here we shall consumate our love and you will become a true member of the pack."

Her kisses became more insistent as his hands began to explore her body. She squirmed her hips, arched her back, and moaned into his mouth as he played with her. Then she felt him pull her close and she shivered as she felt him. Groaning with her own desire she pushed herself closer to him.

When he pulled away she leaned forward in hopes to maintain the kiss, and let out a soft sigh when their lips finally separated. Seeing his smile her eyes widened and then let out a surprised yelp when she felt her feet leave the ground and found herself on his shoulder. Squirming in his arms for fun she ran her fingers through the furs on his back with a smile. As she felt herself being lowered to the ground the smile grew a little as she looked up at him. A groan passed her lips as he started kissing her again, and she felt his hands. While his hands were exploring she squirmed out of her clothes. Passionate moans met the caresses to her neck and she gasped as she felt his hands on her breasts. Her moans only grew louder the more he played with them. As his hand moved lower she pressed against him more, breath coming quicker. Again when he pulled away she sighed at the separation. When the pelts fell away she gasped a little mouth hanging open at him. She could feel her desire grow as she looked at him, and nodded her consent. "Yes, I am ready. I wish to join you and the pack for the hunt." She reached up and touched his chest looking up at him with desire.
