Powers: Green lantern ring can create constructs and channel the green light of will. It must be recharged every solar cycle from a lantern which acts as it's power battery. Thus far powers granted from the ring are constructs, flight, and shields, as well as minor scanning functions and universal translator.
Weapons: Green ring, and lantern.
Weakness: The color yellow is a weakness for all green lanterns as it is the color of fear in the emotional spectrum. Constructs and feilds created have no effect over this color for newbie lanterns. Some lanterns can overcome this problem, but Malin is simply too new to the ring, and has yet to overcome his own fears. Anger can also weaken constructs. Malin's ring is on an emergency mode and the majority of it's higher functions are restricted for the safety of the novice lantern and those around him. This also means that the ring will deactivate if it's user tries to kill someone, or if their mind is controlled.
Bio:
Before the crises
Malin was born to a low income family, and has a past covered in low class criminal activity. everything from shop lifting, to being a general ass, and destruction of public property. He was even sent to juvenile hall, on the day they caught him defacing public property he didn't run, he actually punched one of the cops in the face, even after being taized he still fought.
He was a degenerate and caused fights in his school, though it was mostly with kids either twice his size, or with teachers. People who could clearly kick his ass. Too kids younger and smaller then him, he usually didn't pay much attention to them. He was a willful asshole, but never had anything to stand up for aside from just generally being an ass, and his lack of fear meant that most people couldn't control or maintain his disobedience.
Everything changed when.
The day the justice league disappeared the four green lanterns of earth, Kyle Raynar, Guy Gardener, Hal Jordan, and John Stewert, all members of the justice league disappeared as well. It was only natural that a ring was sent back into the sector for a fifth time to elect the fifth green lantern. The ring scanned the sector for the next greatest source of willpower to find someone that would have the potential to overcome impossible odds.
It found Malin instead. The ring came to a child who had never displayed or even felt real fear. Becoming the youngest human to be inducted into the core. (not counting the child lantern in batman unlimited) Due to earth being a rare planet in the universe one Lantern must always remain on earth, and so Malin has not even had proper bootcamp training with the power ring. Instead the ring is on an emergency mode slowly unlocking features of it's self, and introducing it's user to it's higher functions. Thus far He can create constructs, and fly as well as energy beams. In this way the ring has it's safety turned on, and will shut down if Malin tries to kill someone with it.
Also without the ability to feel fear, Malin lacks the critical ability to overcome it, until this is rectified Malin suffers from what is called the "Yellow Impurity" thus anything with the color yellow passes through any construct or beam unharmed. The way Malin learned about the yellow impurity was when he was blinded by mustard.
With his criminal past Malin feels responsible, and having the greatest weapon in the universe shoved into his lap has given him a second chance at life. Hence why he has signed up with the teen titian's.
