Attaching images from my pc

This is a bit of a noob question seeing how long I've been here, but in that time, oddly enough, I've never put an image in a on or thread post, and need to do that but whenever I try copy and paste it doesn't show up, and the insert picture button just asks for a URL. How do I post or pm images?

Honestly whenever I needed an actual image and not just a link I used photobucket. If the image I need isnt on photobucket I just download it to photobucket. Thats what I've always done.
