Eric had been dared before to go into the forest, and normally it was something that was exciting and intriguing, as he would normally go farther and farther as he was challenged by the boy's at the village. Only once had he been caught by one of the older adults in the village, getting a right proper ass whoopin' for it, for he was always told that if he went into the forest, there was a high chance that he would never come out. Every now and then the roving bands of traders with their bodyguards would come to trade, sometimes even seeing some of the 'monsters' that tried to ambush them, sometimes alive, but most of the time dead and harvested for the rare and valuable reagents.
Eric though could just hear the rest of the boy's chanting to him, egging him on, as he finally decided to put everything to rest and declare himself 'King of the Forest'. He went further than he had ever gone, finally losing sight of the village itself, but the 15 year old was smart enough to mark every third tree with a soft flick of his pocket knife, affecting only a small sprouting limb when he did. Standing at 5'5" he was average for his age, brown hair, blue eyes, lean yet strong body. He had always felt sure of his foot, though it proved to be his downfall, as he suddenly found himself at a precipice, losing his footing and falling and tumbling down the hillside.
By the time he stopped, he gently grunted, picking himself up as he dusted his clothing off, suddenly stopping as an illusive scent graced his nose. It caused him to walk before he realized what he was doing, drawing closer as he wanted to know what the scent was, not noticing the large flower before him, which towered a few feet above him, leaving him within range of the Alraune's vines.
