The Dresden Files is my all time favorite book. It's about a wizard detective named Harry Dresden who does paranormal cases with Murphy-a police officer, Ben-a ghost, and sometimes Thomas-half brother. If your going to be rping a Dresden, you can change the first name but stick with the last other "main" characters you can change their names completely.

Vampires: There are three types.
Red Court-Bad
Black Court-Mysterious
White Court-Good

Replaced Murphy(female)
Replaced Thomas(white court vampire)
Replaced Maggie Dresden(daughter-taken by me)
Replaced Ben
Replaced Sarah Dresden(wife/bitten red court vampire)

You can also play as other creatures or even make up your own oh and HAVE FUN!
