The sounds of the city roared in their ears, nothing was as terrifying to them as being in public was. Both women could have sworn they heard their own heart beats thundering in their chests. There were so many people, so many smells. The sounds were intense compared to the quiet facilities they had once frequented. They had grown up in small towns, so major traffic was never an issues with either twin either. It was odd, to walk down such busy sidewalks. Thankfully, due to their escape most individuals wore masks now, which the twins did as well. The white medical mask stretched across both of the twinâs faces.
It was weird, to see the world changing before their eyes, especially because of them. Soft blue eyes slowly moved through the crowd before coming across the window of a store. For a moment, the more quiet of the twins stopped, staring into the screen as news channel. As always there was the story of the twins. Never was the truth reported though. Shi couldnât help but giggle, her red eyes gazing into the screen, as captions flashed across the screen. They couldnât hear what the news anchor was saying, but it was no doubt the usual junk. Two escaped prisoners on the loose, one of which was suspected to have injected herself with a deadly and possibly contagious virus. Shi looked at her sister, her short black hair falling into her eyes as a smile remained hidden under her mask. No that wasnât it. They werenât prisoners. Hell would freeze over before Chantz ever did anything to hurt another human being.
âCome on. Letâs go,â Shi laughed after a moment and grabbed the others' hand, leading her through the crowd and to the entrance of the subway station. The steps always looked so uninviting, like death was waiting for them at the bottom. Of course, it never seemed to be there. It was usually some homeless guy who stank of piss. They quickly descended the staircase moving through the business men who were now coming out of the doors. It must have been rush hour. The suits didnât usually come through the subway unless it was time to go to work or to leave.
An aggravated sigh left Shiâs lips as she moved through the individuals before finding her way to the toll booth and paid for the both of them. Chantz looking backwards to make sure their toll was fine as the coins bounced in the small collector box her sister had dumped the coins into. Chantz parted her lips slightly, remembering that neither girl had agreed upon the next location they would be going to. Shi however glanced at her sister, giving her one stern look, as if to say that she already knew and that things were taken care of. Chantz could only nod as they took their spot against the subway wall.
Rule number one of the subway station. Never stand out in the open. That was where the crazy people usually attacked. The twinâs held each otherâs hands, every now and then Chantz would allow her grip to tighten when a stranger would walk by and glance at the twins. Chantz knew they were an odd pair to look at. Shi with black hair and red eyes, and Chantz with silvery-white hair and blue eyes. Often people would think they died their hair, but that was not always the case. They stood there, silent for a moment, before a loud couple walked by. They could feel it, a trigger would be uttered soon, and they had yet to figure out which words triggered the mood. Shiâs eyes raised to lock onto a young girl. She must have been a high school student, maybe one with a bright future. It was unfortunate she would pick now to walk through the subway station.
It started now.
Blood pumped through Shiâs blood as her face for a moment became a soft shade of red. She panted as she started to strip, pulling off a sweater she had been wearing along with her pants and shirt, leaving her in nothing but her underwear. It was always easier this way. Attached to her leg was a holster that held the tools of death, a gun and blade. The lumps that the two would have made in her pants having been hidden by the baggy shirt she had been wearing. She grinned as she pulled out the blade, gazing into the eyes of the girl who had been walking in front of her moments before. âIâm sorry my dear, but today was your unlucky day. I do hope you have better luck next time,â she laughed before lunging at the student.
The subway was silent, except for the screeches that the student produced. Soon the stench of blood and other elements from the girlâs body filled the subway. She moved her hands within the girlâs chest, prying her chest open and looking in at the bloody mess before her. She reached in pulling out various body parts before she leaned down and bite into the young flesh. Young flesh was always more tender then older flesh. A little harder to chew, but she liked it better. She swallowed and looked around. It was so silent...
It bothered her.
Shi laughed as she slowly stood up, covered in the girlâs blood, her eyes looking around the subway at the terrified individuals. She raised one arm and ran her pale pink tongue down her arm, licking a small trail clean through her bloody hand. She was still for a moment before a child started to cry and she snickered. Soon she ran across the platform, as people began to run and scream she began to lose her shoes and socks, leaving her bare foot. It wasnât long before she had stabbed two others, taking joy in her actions, there was never anything more fun than watching someone gasping for air as blood leaked out of their neck. Those eyes, those terrified eyes, god they made her excited. She looked over her shoulder when they started to run up the subway stairs and she drew her gun, the shots ringing out in the air as she took down a handful of individuals, a few of which were head shots.
âThe train is comingâ
Chantz stood by the yellow line that separated the platform from the tracks. Her blue eyes gazing back at her twin. It was always so weird to see Shi covered in blood, so hysteric. It was her twin though. They belonged together and Chantz would never run. In her arms she had held her sisterâs clothing. She had also gathered up the school girlâs bag, there wasnât much in it, but there were some electronics they could sell for money. She watched her sister. Shi walking over to her twin and finally coming down from the high. It hadnât lasted long, and hopefully the train would keep moving before they realized something was wrong on the platform. The train pulled up and after a few confused passengers stepped off the train, and the twins stepped on, it began to move. They could hear the faint screams as the train moved along now. The bloody twin wiped the blood off with some spare clothes inside the school bag before she started to pull on her own clothes.
âShit...I donât have any shoes.â
