Jayde sighed as she pushed the blankets off of her, slowly making her way out of bed. Wearing just an oversized tshirt and a pair of black lace panties, she walked over to the large mahogany dresser on the other side of her room and pulled out a pair of yoga pants, slipping them on. She glanced in the mirror above the dresser before walking out, taking in her appearance. Despite just having woke up, she still looked good. Her dark auburn hair hung loosely at the middle of her back, her lightly tanned skin glowing. Her father told her that she was a spitting image of her mother, a woman whom she'd never met, or even seen for that matter. Dismissing the thought, she turned away from the mirror and walked into the hallway.
As she stepped out of her room, a look of confusion spread across her face. Where were the guards? There was always one on each side of her door. She was so used to them at that point and never paid any mind to them, but now that they weren't there, something just didn't seem right. As a young child, she had never questioned it so much, but as she grew older, she started to pester her father with questions, wanting to know why there were always so many strange men around them. He simply told her that they were there to protect them. Because of the fact that he was such an important and powerful man, he had enemies, and he wanted to make sure that she was safe at all times. No matter how many times she asked, this was the answer she always received. To this day, she still didn't know what exactly it was that her father did, just that he was important. After awhile, she just began to accept the fact that he wouldn't tell her more, and finally stopped asking questions. Still, she was curious.
After glancing around the hallway for a moment, Jayde finally just shrugged it off and made her way into the kitchen, which almost always had at least one guard. Like her room, there was no one there. She suddenly started to feel a bit uneasy. Where were they all? She had never witnessed one of her father's 'enemies' or been put in harms way, but that was because there were always people there to protect her. Now, she was alone. Making her way back into the hallway, she walked quickly, trying to get to her dad's office. She knew she was probably overreacting, but she was scared. Practically running, she finally made it to his door, opening it without knocking, something he told her never to do. Strangely, he wasn't there. "Daddy?" she called out, peaking into the large room.
