Daniel Richards slowly made his way home after a long day at work. He was tired, but filled with excitement about the next day. It would be his twenty fourth birthday. He had the day off and he planned on spending much of it with his girlfriend. He knew she had a surprise for him, but he couldn't figure out what it could be. He knew that whatever it was would be special. They'd been together for a long time and he loved her. Anything she gave him would be special. Part of him hoped that they might have sex for the first time together, but even though it was his birthday he knew he couldn't push her to do it. He wanted her to be ready and completely willing for her first time. He didn't want her to feel pressured.
He smiled to himself as he arrived at his apartment. He moved around the kitchen quickly, making himself some dinner. His parents had sent him a gift in the mail and it was waiting in a corner to be opened. He hadn't recieved much else, but it didn't matter to him. He never expected anything from others.
Dan was a simple guy with a simple life. He worked hard to pay the bills and to pay off his student loans. When he wasn't working he was with friends or with his girlfriend. There wasn't much else to him. He felt he was average. He was smart, but he'd never been the smartest in any group. He was tall, but there always seemed to be someone taller. 6'3" just didn't feel that tall to him. He had broad shoulders and a strong frame. He was in shape, but he didn't bother spending hours in the gym to build muscle. He kept his light brown hair short and kept his face clean shaven. He did feel lucky that his blue eyes didn't need glasses like most of the members of his family.
He spent the evening in his apartment relaxing in front of the television. He daydreamed about the day ahead and what he would do all day. He had no idea what was really going to happen and how his life would change because of it.
