Kristen had woken up late and had slung a bag over her shoulder as she jogged out of the house, jogging to school to make it on time. Just last week, she had registered at Garth Brook High and now she was going to be late, perfect. She skid to a stop as she opened the doors, she heard the bell ring and she groaned, closing her eyes as she slowed to a stop. Unlike, the other students, she wasn't breathing hard from the jogging and her eyes were a light, icy blue rimmed by liquid gold. She walked forward again, sighing, as she made it too her locker, and rustling around she pulled out her books, flung them into her bag and then pulled out her schedule.

She studied it for a while, looking it over and looking at the class room numbers and the teachers. Then she started walking to class as she neared the classroom, Algebra, she became nervous and slowed down marginally as she reached it and then turned the doorknob. She stepped inside and a chagrined smile became pasted on her face as she turned to look at the teacher. Mr. Miller had cleared his throat and then said, "Well, Ms. Kristen, your first day and your late, doesn't surprise me much. Well take a seat and take out your book and join us why don't you."

Kristen groaned inwardly and rolled her eyes as she muttered,
"It's not like I meant to be late." She grumbled and went to find a seat as she heard snickers from the other students and the occasional freak thrown into the mix of snickers, giggles and laughs. Now that stung, her first day and people were already calling her a freak and laughing at her. Even better, she sighed and sat down, pulling out her book and her notebook, taking out a pencil as she flipped open to a blank page and started scribbling the notes that Mr.Miller was writing on the board.

Dane Rosewood was sitting calmly in his class, his golden eyes scanning the algebra notes with an utterly bored air. he was the local 'rich boy'. the Boy that all the girls wanted, and all the boys wanted to be. he was handsome, and firm, and so very aloof, as if he didn't just beleive he was better than everyone else, but simply WAS better than everyone else. he and his family had lived in this town for centuries, they where one of the few 'clans' of Vampires who lived outside of the Council. the council allowed it because the Rosewoods where powerful, and because they didn't really do anything. they didn't take sides in wars, they didn't plot to take anything over, they just sat in the calm human town and existed. most Vampires knew of the rosewood clan, but didn't actually know them... most vampires didn't even know where they where, they weren't a danger, and they weren't an ally, so they where mostly ignored. Dane's golden eyes flicked to the door as it slid open, and they narrowed as they examined her intently. just as he knew instantly that she was inhuman, she would know he was the same.

he knew instantly she would sit next to him... it was the only space still available. so as she slid into the seat next to her, he turned his head away... she smelled faintly of... mutt. it was hard to ignore, but he would, he didn't want to have to retake notes just because she was distracting him. he flicked his long, blue black hair over his shoulder and continued to work on the Equations on the board, sighing as he got bored. Math was boring, and the person next to him was much more interesting. it wasn't often that other in-human's came through here. he studied her out of the corner of his eyes, but said nothing as he tried to decide if it was going to be worth talking to her or not. she was pretty, yes... but pretty didn't have much to do with personality, intelligence... and the reasons for her being there. normally, immortals, Vampires especially, only moved there to cause trouble... how could he decide if she was trouble or not?

"i'm Dane. Dane Rosewood." he stated suddenly, blinking at her as he flicked a strand of his long, blue black hair out of his face, staring at her. "is there a reason you've moved into town? i do hope your not here to cause any problems." he mused, his eyes flashing, warning her of the trouble she'd get if she came to do something... unpleasant. "it was Kristen wasn't it?" he asked, studying her, his voice so low, that none of the human's around him would catch it, but Kristen would, that was all that mattered. he sniffed at her, his eyes narrowing even more. "you smell like Mutts..." he grumbled. "it kind of stinks... then again, that smell does cling so terribly." he admitted. "like skunk... just can't get rid of it." he didn't like Mutts, not since they had killed his Father. the werewolf bastards had claimed it was an accident, but Ezequiel knew better. "you better not have brought any Mutts with you, their not welcome in this territory." he warned, letting her know that if she was traveling with werewolves, that she, and them, would be best moving on.

Kristen's eyes immediately flickered towards the male next to her, the golden rims around her piercing blue eyes flared, making her eyes appear more of a gold color than a blue. He was a vampire as well, well, perhaps this year wouldn't be so bad, but then again, perhaps, it would. There, he was just ignoring her, inside, she was seething, but she played it out and remained calm. She flicked her golden locks off to the side and turned her head as well, looking at the board and paying attention. She would play his game as well, then out of the corner of her eyes, she saw a slight movement and turned to see him staring at her.

She looked at him, startled a bit, she was expecting him to be like the others in the room. The ones who called her freak, called her goth, and who had snickered at her as she had walked into the class. She was about to reply when a balled up piece of paper hit her on the back of the head. She glanced down at it, picked it up and unfurled it to see the word FREAK. it was written in red and all caps, as if someone were trying to scare her. She shrugged it off, balling up the paper and tossing it with ease into the paper wastebasket while Mr. Miller had his back turned, then she turned her attention back on Dane.

She saw his eyes flare and heard his words as she let out a low, tempered scoff and she smirked,
"You think I'm afraid of you? Well I'm not, so don't try to instill fear into me, it won't work."She let out breath of air escape her red lips in a sigh as it blew up a patch of her bangs out of her face. It was a sigh, meaning that she didn't want to be hostile towards him and then she spoke again, "Yes, my names Kristen, Kristen Williams, and I came to town because I......" She trailed off, trying to find a way to explain that she was running from a pack of werewolves, that she had been raised by them, but that they were planning on killing her, and that she didn't mean harm. Though, she didn't have to explain her life story to him, she didn't want to, he had no business in her life, and she was merely just seeking out refuge.

Though, she knew that it was pointless, when werewolves had a scent, they never lost it. It was only a matter of time before they found her and slaughtered her, but did she really want to spend that time wallowing and moping when she could make friends with this Dane. She shrugged and decided that she didn't want to wallow and mope about her inevitable death, rather try to make friends with him while she was still well here. So she spoke up again,
"Look I'm sorry ok, I don't mean to sound or act hostile. Life hasn't been all too great for me and now the people here calling me a freak and goth. It gets tiring, but I came here, not to cause trouble, just to try to make a life on my own. I don't cause trouble, I hope that you don't cause trouble for me, God knows I've had far too much trouble already. So anyway, just nice to meet you Dane." Her eyes flicked back to the board and she wrote down the new equations and the new notes. Then, her eyes flicked back towards his own golden gaze, before she turned away and copied down the rest of the notes. She leaned back in her chair, able to relax now that her classwork was done as she looked back at him again.

he blinked at the balled up paper that hit her in the head and his eyes flicked to the people that had thrown it, lifting an eyebrow before his eyes flicking back to her's, his eyes cold but curious. his eyes narrowed as she told him that she wasn't afraid of him. he knew she would be, in time. Ezequiel had much more power than any in the Rosewood Clan. as young as he was, he was still one of the strongest Vampires in the state. he could, and would kill her to protect his Clan, and no one would say anything, because she was trespassing... still, there was something...hunted, in her appearance. something, afraid and tired, and he couldn't help but wonder why she was there. she was strong enough to cause problems for him and his Clan, but somehow, he didn't thin she was there to cause trouble... he stared at her as she continued, and he looked at her curiously. "Williams... that sounds familiar..." he muttered softly. "i know that name..." he muttered, frowning as he tried to place that name before shaking his head. "well, that doesn't matter for now... you just tell any mutt buddies you might have, that if they step foot into Rosewood Territory, they will be slaughtered." he ordered, his eyes flashing.

he had some serious hate for the Wolves, but he was unwittingly giving her some heavy duty protection if he had the backing of his Entire clan in his wolf hate. he turned his attention back to the board, writing down the new equations with a rather bored expression before turning his attention to her as she spoke again. "your not that hostile." he stated with a shrug. "and you shouldn't be concerned about humans. their not worth the time, or the effort of caring what they think." he stated simply. "they are beneath us, and should be treated as such." he admitted simply. "and as long as you do not cause trouble, or bring filthy mutts here, you will not be bothered." maybe not welcomed, but they wouldn't chase her off or try to kill her at all. he paused, examining her for a moment and then. "You can come over to the Clan House if you would like." he stated finally, once he had finished his homework. "My Mother would like to meet you, and it will reassure my sister that your not a threat to her in some strange manner." he admitted, an amused smile fluttering across his face. "our Clan is small, but we're strong." he admitted. "it will be good for them to meet you."

he wrote something down on a piece of paper, an Address, a Phone Number, and an Email. "contact me if you need me for something." he ordered, standing up. "sit next to me during Lunch, and the silly humans will stop bothering you so much." he promised, swinging his backpack onto his shoulders and standing up as the bell rang, leaving without even a second glance in her direction. during Lunch though, he was sitting alone, and didn't tell her to leave when she sat down, something that shocked most of the students around them. Dane hated it when people sat next to him, but he didn't mind her smell so much as he did theirs... Human's stunk, a lot. they didn't stink as much as wolves did, but the mutt stink was fading off of her a little bit now that she had spent all day with humans. "this school is a joke." he complained simply. "how are you finding the classes?" he himself found them boring, and too easy. he was quickly growing tired of being in school, and it was only the end of the first half of the first day. he had better things to be doing.

Kristen nodded as she listened to him, murmuring that he knew her and for a second, she froze up just slightly. She didn't want to have a reputation here, she didn't want to be known here, she just wanted to hide, perhaps if she were lucky then she would stay hidden from the werewolves that were out to kill her. And why, just because in her home town she had lost control once and had hunted a human, the werewolves condemned her for the blood sucker that she had always been and were making plans to kill her when she had run. She hadn't meant to kill the human, the human shouldn't have wondered so far into the forest, especially when she had been on the hunt for a deer and had caught the scent. What had triggered her to lose control? Well, it was simple, the human had been a rock climber on some nearby cliff and had cut himself on the rocks, as long as she didn't smell human blood, she could control herself fairly well. However, she didn't dare doubt for a second that if she were to harm a human here, she'd become found and hunted down and slaughtered either by the Rosewoods or the so-called mutts that were already, most likely, tracking her down.

At least here, she could keep a cover, for what little time she did have. She nodded as she took the paper, tucking it into her pocket, though she kept quiet, her mind were on other thoughts and in another world entirely. She could hear him talking and she nodded again, then shook her head slightly to clear away her thoughts and focus again. She nodded and murmured quietly, "Well thanks for that and see you at lunch." Then she in turn left to go to the rest of her classes, and in almost all of them she got the same reaction. Snickers, balled up papers with the word FREAK scribbled on them, murmurs of freak, goth, emo, and psycho going around her. She sighed softly and was almost relieved when the bell for lunch rang and she scooped up her bag and jogged out of the class.

She slowed to a walk and got in line, grabbing a pizza and setting down besides Dane. The other students stopped to look on in surprise, perhaps awe, Dane was letting someone sit besides him. The murmurs and snickers stopped as the students paused their lunch to turn and look at the two, but then soon they simply shrugged it off and went back to eating.
"Well classes sucked, like sucked, with everyone just being everyone." She didn't need to eat human food, but she did it merely to keep up appearances and took two bites of pizza before she shoved it aside and looked at him. "How about you?"

he glanced at her when he sat next to her, lifting an eyebrow as she ate the Pizza, looking like he was struggling not to make a face. "human food is so gross." he admitted simply, looking almost amused at all the shocked sounds coming from around them. it wasn't anything a human would see, but her superior eyes would catch the tiny changes in his face. "as i said, you are better than them. pay them no mind." he ordered simply. "and i forgot to tell you, feel free to Hunt, just make sure the human doesn't die and doesn't remember." he ordered. "if you take one out, do it along an Alleyway or something and take their money, they think they've been mugged that way." he admitted simply. "and life here is boring... i would Drop out of school if i thought i could get away with it... i hate spending all day here.. the Clan gets into trouble when i'm at School." he complained, grumbling, coming as close to whining as a Vampire would allow themselves.

"if you ever need a meal, we have Willing Donors at the Clan home, and access to the Blood-banks." he admitted simply. "No Vampire goes hungry here." he assured her. "without the Hunger, it's easy to keep control." he admitted simply, tapping the table as he pondered something. "where are you staying anyway? i wasn't aware of a new student moving into the Town... which means either someone neglected to inform me... or you haven't moved in yet..." he admitted, his eyes narrowed. "both reasons annoy me for various reasons." he admitted, glancing at her. "My sister wants to meet you." he admitted. "she's calling me every ten minutes, demanding that i invite you over for dinner tonight." he admitted, pulling his cellphone out of his pocket as it started to chime, flipping it open to see a new text, sighing a little as he shook his head a little. "there she is... asking me again... she's really very annoying." he admitted, looking amused again, affection coloring his tone. "she's only ten though, so i suppose i can't blame her."

Kristen nodded again a soft smile playing upon her lips, tugging up the corners. She could tell that him not knowing where she had come from or when she had moved in had struck a nerve. Though, he heard him say that his sister was ten years old and she looked at him, surprised as she murmured, "wow such a young age to be well you know an vampire." She said this more to herself than to anyone else as she looked at him, raising a brow, "I don't really have a place in town, I wanted to be off the radar for a reason so on the outskirts of town, there is a little wood shack that I've been calling my home since I came here. It's not the best, it's drafty and barely stable, I'm sure that one day, a strong gust of wind will knock it down, but until then it's all that I have." she explained softly and in low tones.

She snapped her head towards the windows, she had caught the faint scent of a werewolf and she thought that she was imagining thing. Though, when she saw her once former brother standing just outside the window, long blonde hair, blue eyes with a hint of gold and silver and a beach body build with a smug smile plastered on his face. She saw him turn and run, transforming into a wolf as he reached the outskirts of town and watched him disappear into the woods. If it were possible her face would have turned white with fear, but instead her eyes just widened as she turned her eyes back onto him,
"I......they found..........found me."

he smirked a little. "she was born as a vampire. all of the Rosewood Clan are born as a Vampire." he admitted simply before staring at her with a look akin to utter horror. "your living in a SHACK!?" he demanded, fury in his voice. "this i will NOT allow!" he growled, glaring at her. "you will accompany me to my home immediately after school, stinking of mutt or not, you are a Vampire, and you will live as one." he stated with a huff before snarling as the fresh scent of wolf hit his nose, his eyes flicking to her. "who found y..." he paused, froze, his eyes widening a little before he suddenly realized. "their hunting you... that's why you where trying to hide... their hunting you..." his voice was filled with shock and he suddenly stood up, a low, dangerous hiss falling from his lips. "come with me." he ordered, leading the way out of the cafeteria. he had kept his voice very low, none of the human's had heard him talking... but the look of utter fury on his face was enough to start the whispers as they watched Kristen following him.

he flipped open his phone and punched in a few numbers, pressing the phone to his ear. "Thitan! get the Guards, now! we're being infested." he snarled. "i have a runaway on my hands, she's in danger. i want her transported to the Manor. the Mutts would be stupid to try and get her there." he wasn't even asking Kristen... he was just barking his orders as he led her out into the parking lot where a Limo was already waiting. he indicated for Kristen to get in, sniffing at the air with narrowed eyes before he settled into the Limo next to her, typing furiously on his phone as he texted various people. "the Clan is getting ready. soon the manor will be impenetrable." he admitted simply. "you will be safe in my home."
