Jared Matheson stepped away from the bulletin board and smiled to himself. His message was there and he hoped it would serve its purpose. It was an announcement searching for a roommate to share a large apartment. He had the price he was asking for on the message and it was much cheaper than any other apartment the size of his. His phone number was written on a small detachable strip on the bottom. There was just one strip to make it look like there was plenty of interest in the room. In reality he only hoped for one call.

With the message in place Jared went back home. He had work to do getting things unpacked at the apartment. He had recently moved in and his things were barely unpacked. He had extra furniture and put it into the second room. He hoped that having a prefurnished room would be something that would attract a potential roommate. When he arrived he started working right away getting things set up. The apartment had been freshly painted with nice colours before he had moved in so he didn't bother painting. His lease was amazing. He had permission to do whatever he wanted with the place as long as it was left in the same condition upon moving out.

That evening he took a break and ate a meal alone in the apartment. As he ate he looked over some papers. He had read the contents a number of times before, but they made him smile each time. He ran a hand through his short, light brown hair and leaned back in his seat. Thoughts of the roommate he was hoping for filled his head. His blue eyes shone as he pictured some of his thoughts. When he finished his meal his 6'3", broad shouldered frame rose out of the chair and he washed his dishes in the sink. He then relaxed on the couch planning on spending the rest of the evening watching television and waiting for the phone call that may or may not come that night.

Alicia’s green eyes scanned over the bulletin board for the third time in that single week. She wasn’t to hopeful that she would find something new, or even something that she would like. For the last couple of days she had only seen apartments in her budget that were either in horrid conditions or had interviews with roommates that were somewhat questionable in her mind. Just as these thoughts were passing through her mind her eyes landed on the new add. Her hands moved forward ripping the add from the bulletin board. “When was this added?” She asked out loud before shaking her head, a few strand of her waist long black hair falling into her face.

She frowned for the slightest of seconds wondering if this might just be another roommate that she would never want to have, but she really needed a place before the end of next week and considering this was on her budget, even lower than that, she decided that another visit in the day could not be so bad. She pulled her phone from her purse and dialed the number in the add waiting for an answer. She felt a bit anxious, how many calls had she made in the week only to be disappointed. She leaned her 5’7” light frame against the wall making the dress she wore crumple against her form some.

Calling giving her main information and receiving a time and day where they could meet was what she was expecting. Of course the last person she had called had just said that if she had the money to bring it and it was hers. Of course she never went, to her anyone that eager and jumpy couldn’t be good. “Hello? Is this Jade Matheson? Hi my name’s Alicia Holmes and I’m calling for the add for a roommate. I’d be really interesting in looking at the place.”

Jared smiled when he heard the phone ring. He had a good feeling that it would be the call he was waiting for. He waited for it to ring a few times before answering. He gave a simple hello and then listened. She quickly explained who she was and why she was calling. Of course he already knew that. The private detective had already done the work and found him the roommate he had been looking for. The file he'd recieved was full of information including the knowledge that she checked that one bulletin board often. Now that she had called he knew the information had been worth the detective's fee.

He sat up in his chair and cleared his throat before speaking. "Yes, this is Jared Matheson. I'm glad you called about the apartment. I'd be happy to have you come and take a look. I'm meeting with a few other people over the next couple of days before my vacation ends. Moving into a new place isn't much of a vacation, but I think it is worth it. Anyway, any time you're free in the next two or three days would be great. I'll show you around and we can talk for a bit to see if we'd get along sharing an apartment."
