Jared Matheson stepped away from the bulletin board and smiled to himself. His message was there and he hoped it would serve its purpose. It was an announcement searching for a roommate to share a large apartment. He had the price he was asking for on the message and it was much cheaper than any other apartment the size of his. His phone number was written on a small detachable strip on the bottom. There was just one strip to make it look like there was plenty of interest in the room. In reality he only hoped for one call.
With the message in place Jared went back home. He had work to do getting things unpacked at the apartment. He had recently moved in and his things were barely unpacked. He had extra furniture and put it into the second room. He hoped that having a prefurnished room would be something that would attract a potential roommate. When he arrived he started working right away getting things set up. The apartment had been freshly painted with nice colours before he had moved in so he didn't bother painting. His lease was amazing. He had permission to do whatever he wanted with the place as long as it was left in the same condition upon moving out.
That evening he took a break and ate a meal alone in the apartment. As he ate he looked over some papers. He had read the contents a number of times before, but they made him smile each time. He ran a hand through his short, light brown hair and leaned back in his seat. Thoughts of the roommate he was hoping for filled his head. His blue eyes shone as he pictured some of his thoughts. When he finished his meal his 6'3", broad shouldered frame rose out of the chair and he washed his dishes in the sink. He then relaxed on the couch planning on spending the rest of the evening watching television and waiting for the phone call that may or may not come that night.
