The loss of life was one that many people considered to be the end. Most people had considered Katherine to be dead and gone, even her ex lover. Now Katherine was a ghost. A ghost who was protective and always watching her ex. Her ex had loved her, she knew that, but her exes family had denied them and when the girl had given up she had run away. Now she went to the woman's home again. She'd been following her since she died.

Katherine's body remained exactly as it had been. She could be seen by those who had loved her. Her long copper hair fell into blue-grey eyes and she was wearing the same simple black shirt and red shirt she'd been wearing when she died. She was looking for a way to connect with her ex, a way that wouldn't spook her. She'd decided a while back to just touch the girl's shoulder.

Now she did it, sensing the girl panic.

She was losing her mind. Losing her fucking mind. Frustration had tears welling up in Alyssa's eyes for the hundredth time that week. She took a deep breath and moved from the kitchen to the living room of her small, quaint house. Alyssa curled up on the couch, rubbing a hand over her eyes. Dark hair fell over her shoulders, a cascading wave of silk.

Alyssa had long since determined that she didn't know what she was going to do. Ever since Katherine's death, she'd been lost, alone in the world. Her job at the animal shelter, which she had adored going to every day, suddenly seemed empty and pointless. Eating required too much energy. Sleeping brought on dreams she didn't want to acknowledge. And now? Now she could almost swear she could feel the presence of her lover.

Why hadn't she told Katherine she loved her? All the time they'd spent together, and Alyssa had never been able to say those words. It had been true, still was, but she'd been too weak to say it. She hated herself. Hated everything.

Standing abruptly, Alyssa moved to a window and stared out. She just wasn't going to be able to do this.

It was then she felt...something touch her shoulder. Whipping around, Alyssa stared at...no. It couldn't be. Freezing, Alyssa faced her dead lover, in exactly the state she'd left.

"Lyssa..."

Katherine spoke softly, gently tacing the woman's cheek with her hand. She was smiling softly as she moved closer, stroking her cheek again. She was glad the woman was standing still, at least this time she hadn't made someone pass out. She spoke with the same tenderness she always had done.

"Baby...."

Her eyes met the other woman's and she spoke softly.

"You can't kill yourself... Please?"

Alyssa stared at Katherine, her eyes glazing over. Then, she collapsed, fainting.

She was floating. All around her was white/blue sky, green grass, fresh fllowers. Where was she? Alyssa looked towards the ground, noticing a scene from her past. It played over. She and Katherine were sitting together, laughing around a picnic they'd set up. Then, kissing. Alyssa's eyes filled with tears. The scene changed, going to various memories of herself and Katherine. It was bittersweet torture.

"Oh christ..."

The words burst from Katherine as she knelt beside Alyssa, gently stroking the girl's hair. As she watched her she couldn't help but feel sorry for her. As the girl lay still Katherine leant down to softly kiss the girl, praying that it would work.

"Alyssa...."

Panic was beginning to flare and she spoke softly.

"Baby, please wake up..."

Alyssa woke slowly, staring up at Katherine. Then, she let out a pain-filled moan. Rubbing her head, she closed her eyes. "This can't be happening." As if hoping the brief moment would make it all go away, Alyssa opened her eyes, noticing her lover still there. "You're dead!" Panic began to set in again, filled with grief.

Sitting up quickly, she scooted away, back braced against the couch. Her eyes were wide, staring at Katherine. "Please, please tell me you're dead," she begged, closing her eyes again. Her mind, her poor broken heart, just couldn't handle this. "I saw you're body," came her soft whisper.

"Alyssa..."

Katherine's protest was soft as she spoke and watched the woman who had moved away from her. She was panicked, that much was clear to Katherine before she spoke.

"Yes... Yes I'm dead."

She paused then spoke softly.

"I've always loved you Alyssa... always. I'm never going to be leaving you."

Alyssa stared. That's all she could do. "Why are you here?" she finally asked, yet again in a whisper. A small whimper escaped her as she hugged her knees to her chest. "I'm sleeping. Dreaming. This isn't real." Shaking her head, she rested her forehead on her knees.

OOC: sorry it's short. Hard to act detailed about a crazy woman.

OOC: It's cool.

"I'm here."

She spoke softly, moving to slowly stroke the girl's hair.

"Alyssa, baby I'm here."

She paused then looked up.

"It's not a dream... I promise."

The girl was shivering before she spoke again, Katherine watching her closely.

"Baby, look at me."

Alyssa looked up at Katherine's sweet, familiar voice. Then, she reached out and touched Katherin's face, gliding her finger along her cheek. "I miss you. I'm so lonely." Tears pooled to her eyes, then she blinked them away.

Why suffer? Katherine was here, right in front of her now. Alyssa slowly, as if fearing she'd disappear, embraced Katherine in a desperate hug.

Katherine had sighed and pulled Alyssa into a familar and desperately tight hug.

"Oh sweetness."

Her lips touched the girl's neck as she stroked her hair.

"Oh my poor sweetness."

Alysaa pressed kisses to Katherine's neck, feeling the typical arousal that plagued her when she was with Katherine. "I love you." Her voice was a whisper, but as she leaned back, her eyes were filled with desire. "I meant to tell you that...but....I..." She couldn't finish.

"I know."

Katherine's words came softly.

"I know baby."

She moved to gently kiss the girl, stroking her hair gently.

"I love you too... always."

Alyssa kissed her sweetly, tongue moving across her lips a moment before she pulled back. "Why did you hasve to go?"

"It was my time..."

Katherine spoke softly.

"It was my time so that I could be here now.... looking after you."

Alyssa nodded, looking away. "What does that mean, though? Are you here to stay?" Katherine's words leaked into her brain. What was she in need of protection from?

"Yes, I'm here to stay." She spoke softly and shyly. "As long as you need me here." It was clear she was nervous and didn't want to see Alyssa turn her away. "I just... don't want you to be alone here... not when I can stay with you." She meant that.
