In my head!
Sweet Candy, and yes that was her real name and no she did not have it changed though she had often thought about it. Walked out of the hospital room of the patient she had been visiting. She was looking in her notebook with the pencil still in her hand and she had a small back bag with other notebooks and things. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going but then again she never really did. She wrote for a living, in fact she was quite the novelist, she wrote fantasy romance murder novels. Today she was wearing jeans and a nice cotten button up rouched in the front by the buttons giving way to her meager cleavage. She was tall, around 5'9, and she wore comfortable pumps, she had pixie cut strawberry blonde hair. Not only that but she was covered in freckles and she was a size two, her hips were wider giving her a slightly pear shaped look.

She was researching the last of the clues she needed to make her latest book more realistic even though it was fantasy, the man she had been interveiwing had been attacked and nearly lost his life, he survived thanks to his partner and friend. Sweet wanted as many details as she could get and she had been bringing candy bars, and coffee into the room for the injured man. The most recent murders interesting Sweet were the ones involving the fantastic community. Elves and witches and vampires and more. It was giving her a fortune in idea's for more books and her writing got even better.

She had gone through the elevator and then walking across the front parking lot to where she had parked on the street just one street away from the actual parking. Though she took a shortcut through an alley she had found before and it had become her regular route. She was finally putting her things away and getting her keys out while she was in the alley thats when she heard a shriek and then a thud and suddeny falling onto the concrete right in front of her fell the body of a man. A dead man if the wooden stake through the chest cavity was any indication. Sweet screamed after just a few more seconds of looking at the body. She fell on her ass then and scrambled for her phone calling 9-1-1. "A MURDER! You stupid woman there is a boys body on the ground in the alley across from the hospital downtown! There's a stake through his heart and he has fangs! What?! No he isn't dust now! Listen just send some cops down here! NOW!!" She hung up and looked around the alley worriedly, it wasn't super late but it was around nine at night, she usually had lunch with the man she talked to and right now... well she wished she had more to talk to him about but then again she studied the body as closely as she could without touching anything or stepping on the body or anything that might belong to the body.

"If you fall on my body, I might scream at you."Cruel Darling growled as he walked out of the hospital, holding his badge in one hand so that she could see it clearly, and the gun in the other as he looked around. Wanting to make sure that they were actually alone, except for the body. Lowering the gun after a moment he sighed as he looked down at the body, a slight smile curling his lips. While the man wasn't in uniform-he never was, one of the benefits of being a plainsclothes detective- and it was his day off dammit. But looking at the man mistaken for a vampire he so knew that he was going to have to be working. Oh, his ex-partner was going to kill him for finding such a interesting murder, right outside his hospital room, and not able to help out on it.

The dark blond man sighed running his fingers through the silky blond hair as he crouched down next to her, concern showing in blue eyes. He was handsome, in that stopping traffic kind of way. There was a running joke at the precinict that him and his ex-partner were so handsome that they caused more than half of NYC's traffic accidents just by walking together."Miss? Are you okay?"he asked sitting on his heels as he looked at her. The detective trying very hard to not consider the beautiful woman leaning over his body. After all, he had to work.....not that that had ever stopped Cruel Darling from getting laid, but she was a witness, maybe his murderer, he had to be careful. At least until his backup showed up. It just had to be his luck to be the only cop in the whole damned hospital.

"Then scream I already did, besides I called the cops mister whoever you think you are so stay off THE body thank you very much! I'm fine it just scared me... I mean it fell right in front of me! either from inside the building or from the fire escape but then I never did look up. He's got fangs though... the dead man. They aren't plastic either I think these were custom work. Oh right my name is Sweet Candy You will stay until the police arrive right? Call me Sweets." Sweet asked suddenly not feeling very safe at all. While she wrote the books and talked to policemen and detectives. Went to jails and spoke to those caught for murder but this was different, she usually only saw pictures of the murders and the murder scenes, she'd never seen a real murder victem.

She actually stepped back away from the body and pulled out her notebooks she began sketching, not only that but taking notes near by the sketch of the body. Her notebook had her name on it as well. 'Sweet Candy' her parents must have been wonderful sane people to actually name their daughter like that. But there was a second name on the notebook, Barbara Winters Novel idea's, was what was written under the name Sweet Candy. Sweets just didn't want any real vampires showing up because of the possibly fresh death before her, the blood was still pooling a little so he couldn't be dead more then a few hours after all.

"Goddammit, talk about messing up a crime scene."Cruel growled annoyed that he was interrupting one of his few nights off to bbysit this damned victim who didn't know better than to pretend to be a vampire. You'd think NYC was crazy enough without volunteering to do something crazy like be a fake vampire."I am the police, sweets. But I'll stay until the other's show up."He said even if he wasn't paying attention to her, the cop so focused on looking over the body that it took a moment to realize who she was.

"I read one of your books once.Would have never guessed such a prim sounding pen name could belong to someone with a stripper's name."Cruel mused as he looked up at her, smiling slightly."I'm Cruel Darling, and yes it's my real name."He said before she could ask before holding out a hand for her pencil."Can I burrow that?"He asked.

"If I have a strippers name then what's yours a jilted lovers?" Sweets asked rummaging in her bag for a moment before pulling out a number two b led pencil. "Use this it's regulation at least, even if you don't have your own, or a paper pad, or anything remotely useful to a detective. Strange isn't it... that he worked so hard to look like a vampire only to end up with a vampire stake through the chest cavety I'm guessing it actually went through a lung. The heart is far to difficult to get to with wood after all. It usually takes something sturdier like steal doesn't it? I suppose I should be honored though that someone has read my books. Especially in the police field of the paranormal investigation unit. Or Pee-yew as you've been nicknamed." Sweet spoke as she handed him a small notepad that was new as well, it too had her name on it.

She kneeled down closer to where he was and she handed him both items and watched carefully what he was doing, she had to say he was one of the most gorgeous looking men she had seen in a long time barring the models they hired for her covers. She could learn quite a bit about this man and she was already taking notes on his habits and his striking features. She might sketch him later but then again she was also a little obsessed with her writing work. But then again she was retiring her main character soon and replacing him with another to take his place. "What do we do while we wait Cruel Darling? Or should I just say Cruel? Or perhaps Mr. Darling?" Sweets asked a little snidely she hated her name which is why for her work she used a pen name.

"No. A mother's cruel joke on her firstborn."He amused as he took the pencil from here, smirking a little at her words."I'm not writing with it. I have a phone for that."He said glancing up as he heard the sirens from the coming cop cars getting nearer. Pulling up the victim's lip he studied the fangs, though he knew they were fake, he was trying to decide just how much of the teeth had been changed. To make them look natural you really had to change the bone scructure to, which was looking like it had been dne. That at least would narrow done the list of who this could be.Wincing a little at her words he sighed."Don't call it that. It's bad enough I have to go by darling. I don't want someone starting on the stinky smell jokes."

"If you must call me something, just cruel."He said after a moment before glancing up at her, glancing around the scene as the other cops arrived he waved her towards the classic corvette parked a few spots away."Go sit in the front seat.If you want turn it on, get warm.I have to talk to these gentlemen."He said holding out his car keys and pressing them into his hand before he movd to talk to the cops that were waiting to talk to him.

"Yeah... right." Sweets said as she put the keys in her pocket and continued to crouch near the body and sketch. She had also been writing down just about every word and action he had done towards the body and well she couldn't help it it was her first actual crime scene and her first murdered body in front of her. Not only that but he had her notepads and pens with her. What else was she supposed to do. She was a suspect and as such she already knew they would take ehr statement at the scene and want her at the precinct in which this murder fell under, which would be more then likely under the Pee-yew, she had thought it was pretty clever because cops usually said things like this murder stinks and blah blah blah. It was very fitting and she didn't joke about anything that worked.

She waited crouched near the body until she was done sketching. They moved around her and set things up but others had to arrive, the photographer and coroner, the emt. There was a lot involved in finding a dead body. But it gave her time to look around the alley and then up. It was a five story building, if he was dropped from the roof the body wouldn't just have broken bone it would have splattered the skull like an egg a juggler droped. Whish meant it had to have been pushed out a window. There were only three windows that didn't have the fire exit in front of them. She would have heard the fire exit, or if someone had been on it anyways, those things were rusted to hell and back. This building was mostly storage anymore anyways though and Sweets was curious to know whose it was and what they stored and how secure it was.

She was determind that in this case she would get all the juicy details to write about. She'd only worked off idea's from cold cases before so this time it was perfect! Of course she'd have to finish writing her book she was working on now at some point but she had a feeling that would be ground to a halt. Not that she minded but her publishers wouldn't be happy about the deadline.

When he was done setting up things and doing what he needed to do, he shook his head as he looked at the writer still watching everything."I gave you my car keys so you could go warm up, not so you'd crouch and stay where you were."He said testily, before holding out a hand for his keys."We're leaving now."He said knowing that he was going to be at the precinct all night, and wasn't that a joyful thought. Even the thought of spending all night there without his ex-partner made him a little twitchy. The last two weeks with jason there, had been hell. Jason was by far the calmer of the two in the partnership, and having your own partner shot in your own damned precincint by a murder suspect they'd been dragging in, would make anyone twitchy. But eh tried really hard to not consider how much of that was his fault.

"What are you thinking so hard about, sweet candy?"He said with a slight lilting accent, enjoying the fact that one of his favorite authors' real name was just as riddiculous as his own.

"Well Cruel Darrrling." Sweets said emphasizing both words making cruel sound like cru-ell and purring with the darling bit to mock him in return. She finally stopped looking up and looked at him. She raised one eyebrow. "What no questions here? I take it Jason handled all the common sense in this duo then. I should write that down." Sweets said and she did in fact write it down. Once finished she dug her keys out of her bag and tossed them in his direction. Still it was curious why in a storehouse. She would find out more later. She would too.

Not so much that she had connections but she did and she could anticipate what the police would do and where to be ahead of them to meet up with them and figure things out on her own. She gladly admited she was being nosey and probably was going to be breaking a few laws but that hadn't stopped her before, not really. "I head to the precinct in my car then. It's actually just another block away outside of this alley. See you there Darling." Sweets said wondering if he was actually going to just let her walk away. After all the crowd of people at the end of the alley blocked off by police officers had a fair amount of reporters in it as well.

Wondering how much of this investigation that Cruel would be mocking her name and she would be to his as well was also something Sweets was pondering. But she wanted to get home and put this new info from today on the computer and begin to track it as soon as she could. She wasn't worried about being blamed for the murder after all she only had one book on a vampire serial killer, it had gone over fairly well and no vampires had taken major offense she had even asked the vampire community as much as she could get to anyways if they would care to read it and give her their opinions.
