Detail oriented long-term RP (Male seeking Female)

As the title says, I’m looking for long-term, detail oriented RP. By detail oriented, I mean I would like some attention paid to things around the characters – such as atmosphere – not just the characters themselves. Cool winds, autumn breezes, the cry of seagulls, a ship taking off in the distance, the rustle of clothing, the smell of bagels in the nearby café … anything that gives the story itself life , not just the characters.

Still, it all comes down to the characters in the end, so I’m also interested in cooperative play between the players in assuring mutual enjoyment of the RP itself. There should be some give and take on both sides OOCly – that is, when we enter a story, it’s not my story that I’m telling for your enjoyment and I’m not looking for you to tell me your story or where I fit in precisely to your ideas. It is a collaborative effort for mutual enjoyment. I also believe in good over bad – that is if our characters are both on the same side, they’re the good guys. However, if we’re not on the same side, then overall in the story, the good side will win eventually and the bad person should come around. There’s tons of wiggle room here, I’m just noting that I believe in good over bad.

I don’t want to bog anyone down with more details. I’m good playing the RP in almost any environment; ie Forum, e-mail, Mu* sandboxing, g-mail documents, etc. However, regardless of media choice, I’m here on these forums and in the end, the stories should be posted here on Blue Moon and shared for anyone to read.


All this being said there are several theme areas I’m interested in exploring:

THEMES:

Steampunk: I prefer slightly outdated tech set into steampunk genre. I don’t want full on Jules Verne future cities run on steam punk but something that approximates technology from say 40-50 years ago but in a steam punk setting would be preferred. Its Victorian in flavor with some elements of tech and mysticism thrown in for interest and mysticism could simply be technology giving something an air of mystery.

Western: Alternate history, anything from about 1840’s to 1870’s at the latest. I’m not looking for another Hollywood reproduction story that is set post-civil war, it’s overdone really. There is so much more room to explore alternative history with western flavor that isn’t prototypical post-civil war.

Darkages: I’m looking at 8th Century Europe give or take a century, historical deviation/alternate history.

PAIRINGS:
Pairings that would interest me:

Nobility x Savage – one person is from the highest class, another is from the lowest. They eventually learn they aren’t so much different after all, sharing common interest’s goals over time.

Explorer x Explorer – for whatever purpose two individuals share the same road, deal with adversity, come to trust one another and make common cause.

Nation A x Nation B – from two different cultures, they learn what is wrong with their own culture and what they like of the other’s culture, both live between their two worlds never excepted again by either homeland because of their new values.
Pairings can be intermingled, mixed and matched, I’m pretty open to interpretations of this.

I do not have kinks up, but I am mostly vanilla with light excursions into almost any kink/fetish - always willing to discuss.

I was recently contemplating the potential to add one more RP to my present RP agenda. I was browsing the request threads and for some reason it just kept seeming that the concepts were repetitive, just the flavoring bordered on different due to a smidge of spice. Even looking at my initial post in this thread, it borders on the bland. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because the two RP’s I’m active in on this site fit within those themes I requested above and I’m enjoying them so far. Really what it lead me to ponder is that if I want something unique, I should offer up unique ideas with room for expansion – in plot, the theme/world itself and have room for a variety of character concepts.

Thusly, I’m not into bumping my thread as I don’t have lots of room for lots of RPs, but I’m following up with a few ideas that I think could be interestingly unique depending on the spices that are further added to them. One key concept is probably unique/exotic settings through the stories as backdrops to the charater developments and the erotica that finds its way into the stories.

Idea 1
Concept: The world is facing a threat unlike any it has ever known; I know, not original yet, right? Through various means it is determined HE and SHE offer the greatest potential to overcome this challenge that looms on the horizons of a near tomorrow. They are at the top of their profession, perhaps they contributed to the determination that it would be up to them to solve this problem. As the answers seems to dawn on them, it is evident they must travel the corners of the world in gathering the components of this solution, facing dangerous challenges along the way. In part they must learn to work together and, as well, they must learn to trust each other. They are not really in opposition to one another, except maybe in philosophies/schools of thought, but rather being at the top of their professions, it is simply a matter of ego. Underneath the ego is really a strong physical attraction, which they struggle with knowing to give into being ‘lovers’ comes at a loss of their ego, believing themselves to be the best the world has to offer. Ultimately, through their trials and tribulations, they find that love and working together is a stronger force than simply being an individual that knows the most of a certain subject, but by the time they discover this, will it be too late to overcome the threat?

Theme: There is a wide range of themes that could easily accommodate this idea, from stone age through steam punk. There is some reluctance to go beyond industrialization era/steam punk theme simply because the journey itself is part of the progressive storyline. Part of the theme is that the far corners of the world are unique, exotic locations that serve as elegant backdrop to the developing story between the two characters.

Characters: I envision the characters as being magical and/or science based, or any combination thereof. Both the characters and theme would really influence the other. Thus, they could be shamans, or powerful wizards/witches/warlocks, or even alchemists, depending on theme. The level of erotic between them can take many scenes to reveal itself to simply happening not long after getting out of the gate, this would simply depend on how we feel as the theme/characters develop and what we both want out of this story.

Idea 2
Concept: The bending of reality. In the world beyond the world, were the surreal of the subconscious mind and all its dream states find an odd yet harmonious coexistence, a rift of darkness has torn at the ethereal fragments that may threaten reality itself. Drawn into this world, SHE and HE are on some vision quest to discover that this rift exists and then to mend the fabric of this alternate reality, saving the denizens therein as well as saving themselves. The realms of this world are unique and intriguing, ranging from the horrifically odd to the magically curious and all that lies in between. SHE and HE do not even know if this is real, let alone if each other is real, and yet, they are free to explore the bounds of a mutual attraction without real boundaries in this dream like world.

Theme: I suppose the concept is the theme in itself, its fantastical. However, there is room to explore and define some of the concepts of this other world.

Characters: This perhaps offers the most room for play, aside from SHE and HE, I think it begs the curiosity if this is simply a dream-state for the characters, or another physical world somehow connected with the reality the characters know. Are they broken individuals in the real world and this rift in the dream world is a reflection of that? Will coming together in this world help them find each other so they can return to the real world? This also offers the strangest pairing perhaps, that SHE and HE is really a fragment of one person, split apart in reality and this dream world is really just the subconscious of that one individual as it tries to mend itself. Really, room for play all around.
