The sky lit up with a flash of lighting followed by a loud crack of thunder while rain poured down upon a car that slowly drove along the abandoned road. The car was a silver sedan and it carried three passengers. The two in the front were Melisa and Audrey. Melisa had shoulder length bright red hair that was held back from her face with silver star hair clips which kept her bangs from falling in her bright blue eyes. She was currently wearing a pair of tight jeans and a black button up shirt with black boots. Her friend, Audrey, had waist length black hair that was pulled back into a high pony tail and dark, almost black eyes. Audrey was dressed in a dark grey skirt with a white tank top and a light blue jacket over top with heels.
Both girls were 25 and had been best friends since they were little girls, having grown up together and attended all the same schools and had all the same friends. Audrey was a fashion designer while Melisa had become a hairdresser, but they always spent all their free time together.
The other girl in the car, however, didn’t really know them. Her name was Evangeline. This girl sat in the back seat with her arms wrapped around her while staring out the window. She had very long hair that was oddly a pale purple color, though no one knew if it was naturally that color or treated to be that color. Her big, doe like eyes were a dark grey and seemed to pierce into ones soul. She was dressed in a simple white dress that had floral embroidery all over the knee length skirt and on her feet were ankle boots, also in white.
Evangeline, or Angeline (Angel for short) was 22 years old and was still in school for psychology, having decided to become a counselor of some kind or a therapist. She usually kept to herself and away from people like Melisa and Audrey because she was usually teased for her appearance. But she’d been invited by one of her close friends to a party and that was actually how she came to be in the situation she was in now.
All three girls had attended the party of a rather popular guy named Michael. Melisa and Audrey had a couple drinks while Evangeline only had one before they all decided to join in on a game a bunch of the party goers were taking part in. They were all playing truth or dare. Childish, they knew, but it was fun to dare people to do things.
So, one of the other party goers both noticed that Angeline often took truth while they also didn’t like Audrey, decided to give a dare to Evangeline the next time she picked dare. After saying dare, the three women found themselves being dared to go down to Old Mill Road and take the long winding gravel road at the end of it up to an old, abandoned Winchester manor and stay in the house the rest of the night until day break the next morning. Unless they were chicken.
While Angeline was more than ready to claim chicken, Audrey wasn’t and accepted the dare on the other girls behalf before dragging the protesting girl out of the house to her car. And of course, where Audrey went, Melisa followed soon after.
And that was how they found themselves taking Old Mill Road up to the Winchester Manor. However, about halfway up the old, gravel road, Audrey’s car began to sputter and cough before it died. Instead of getting out and heading back they way they came, Audrey and Melisa got out of the car and into the pouring rain before pulling Angeline along the road, saying that they couldn’t chicken out now that they were so close.
So with a sigh, the third girl followed them up to the manor even though it was pouring out and she was scared. On the porch, they paused long enough to wring out their clothes and hair before Audrey took a deep breath and pushed open the front door after finding it unlocked. The door creaked as it opened and the girls shuddered before slowly entering what would end up being a long and terrifying night.
