"So are we gonna do this?"

Miguel looked up to see his younger sister standing there, hands folded across her large, mostly exposed chest. She was well into her twenties but she had the look of a teenager. Her multiple piercings, short messy black hair with it's dyed blue streak didn't help...neither did the petulant and impatient expression.

"we are not going to do anything, you're staying put, this isn't a game, we don't have any money and breaking into a high security lab to steal tech equipment isn't something to take lightly," he replied tersely, he'd been in the business of selling black market tech for about fifteen years, since he'd been a teenager himself and while he allowed his sister to help him with small jobs he knew Carina wasn't anywhere near mature enough to be trusted with this.

"You're letting Arael go," Carina pouted, "She's even younger than I am!"

"Arael is our cat, we need her to get in and dismantle the system, no one else has those skills,"

"Cat" was the slang term for a trained burglar, a professional in the field of breaking and entering and highly coveted among street gangs. Arael was among the best, although she was hard to find due to her constantly changing appearance and name, her natural hair color was red, but thanks to a wash she'd developed she could temporarily become a blond or brunette as needed.

"Who else gets to go while I'm stuck being left behind?" Carina whined.

"It's just me, Arael and Jake, I figure a smaller group is better and less likely to be caught," said Miguel tucking his curling black hair into a ski cap and grabbing a bag and a light. "We won't be long, just in and out while security is switching out for the night, Adios sis," he said giving Carina a kiss and heading for the door, Arael and Jake were waiting in the truck, Arael was clothed head to toe in a dark grey suit, a pair of goggles over her eyes and not an inch of exposed skin showing, her age, race and gender undiscernable in the event she should be caught on camera.

Jake was the oldest, at forty he was still in good shape, in spite of his inclination for drinking heavily. His dark hair was going grey at the sides but his blue eyes were as sharp as ever, "We ready to go?" he asked gruffly. Miguel nodded and climbed into the truck.

When they pulled up to the lab Arael took to scouting the building, all she needed was to find an opening to get in through and then she's signal the others. she found her opening at a small window leading to the basement. She used a small electronic device to scramble the alarm signal at the window and broke in, squeezing through the little opening....She was in.

The building had been long abandoned. Blackened vines and moss lined the walls, choking most of the hardware but here and there a bundle of wires or an intact screen crackled and fizzled with life. Although she couldn't do anything with the tech Arael pulled out a small device that allowed her to siphon off live electricity and store it. This could be used to power dead tech later and live energy was just as valuable as tech itself to some buyers. She proceeded down without hindrance for some time before she came to a small lift, climbing inside she examined the panels to see if it was still operative.

As she pried off the cover of the button panel the lift closed and began to move. She tried to stop it by hitting one of the buttons but rather than halt the lift took her down before screeching to a stop at the very bottom of the lab.

The doors opened and she found herself in a room full of red motion sensors, on the other side was a heavy steal door. What Arael noted was that there was considerably less moss growing on the hardware down here, the tech was all live as far as she could tell. There was something important down this way.

After thorough examination she found an access panel and she went about carefully disarming the sensors. Walking to the door she pulled out a magnet card, a magnet card acted as a skeleton key for electronic or computerized equipment. It scrambled memory tech and set a program lock to it's default setting, allowing her to change any codes and gain access. She slid the card through the key slot and punched in a random set of numbers, the door opened for her.

"Open sesame," she chuckled to herself pocketing her card. As she wandered further in she noticed that the lab was beginning to resemble a large terrarium, there were trees growing out of the floor, the tile on the ground gave way to soil and an artificial sun lamp lit a strange jungle like garden in a massive underground dome. What were they keeping here? As she explored further her foot crunched against a large dry husk. Bending to pick it up she realized what it was.....

the most massive snake skin she'd ever seen in her life!

The moment something living entered the isolation unit the dormant creature was living in, he reacted on pure instinct and forced himself to awaken. Blinking slowly the creature moved his long but lean form around vegetation that had grown through the hard ground of the building. Alert, cat like eyes narrowed suspiciously on what he soon discovered was the body of a female human. Judging from what he could see of her clothing she defiantly wasn’t a scientist but he really couldn’t place her anywhere else. He knew her gender because of his extremely sensitive sense of smell but other than that, she was a petite mystery, then again everyone was petite compared to him. He gave his head a mental shake.

How in the world did she get into this part of the building? He kept track of every day since the lab went on lockdown and never had there been a time a person was able to breech security, especially without setting off any alarms. The only thing he could think of was that she must have been a thief, a skilled one at that. He hadn't noticed the fact she held one of the many skins he had shed over the years. Even so, he still wanted to know why she was here and if she had truly got in safe then he could leave. Couldn't he? If so where would he go? He didn't even know what the outside world looked like anymore!

Despite the fact he had been isolated from humans for a long time he was still knowledgeable enough to know not to assume he could have a natural conversation with them. He did his best to make sure his lower half was hidden behind a random pile of messy shrubbery and electronics, and raised his frame so the human half of his body could be seen. “Are you lost?” He asked calmly, although he hadn’t used his voice in a long time the deep baritone was still husky and was just as masculine as the male it belonged to. The time spent in the isolation unit left him with little room to move and little access to any accessories other than what he was wearing, but the clothing was ripped and worn out in places and the sections that were medically attached to machinery still clung to the fabric. Clearly he had been a test subject of some sort, he appeared mostly human from afar but when you got closer the picture became clearer.

As soon as Arael caught sight of another person she jumped, "I...I'm a bit lost...." she said, she didn't want to reveal that she'd broken in, there was something odd about the man, she could only see him from the waist up but she could tell he'd been some sort of test subject. "Who are you?" she asked backing away a few paces. "I don't want trouble!"
