The Land of Lost Souls
War had always been apart of the world since the dawn of mankind, there was always someone or something looking to control the world or parts of it. This never changed even with the passage of time war would always be around. Mankind has always lead the way in creating brutal ways of killing each other and those around them. Even now as Mathew Price does his best to work on the books of the family's business, he can't help but think back to days gone by. He remembered the time when everyone thought that he was human. Back in the days when he stalked the night as a hunter of creatures who feed upon innocent humans. Mathew had been at one time a Priest, but not just any Priest. He was a member of a special order called The Angels of Death. The members of this order protected mankind from vampires and lycans. It would take years for Mathew to find out that he was in fact killing his own kind. While it was true that Mathew killed human, those humans were serving either the vampires or the lycans.

Mathew learned the truth of his past from his mother who had had thought was dead. She however was living in this very house where Mathew made his home. Mathew's world had been turned upside down when he learned that the man whom he had been tracking for years was really his father. Andros Adonis had always been a bitter enemy to Mathew. Their hatred for each other finally ended after the truth came out. Mathew just couldn't keep his mind on the books for the family winery. Brimstone wine was famous around the world and made Mathew's family very rich. But Andros was rich long ago, his first wife who was a vampire was herself was wealthy. Upon her death, she left millions to Andros whom she had made a vampire. No one really knew how old Andros was. Even Mathew could only guess, but a paper that he once saw dated Andros back to the early 1800's.

Mathew was deep in thought when one of the human maids of Brimstone Manor brought in a newspaper and laid it on the desk. He thanked the young girl who bowed to him then left. Mathew picked up the paper, his eyes looked over the stories then he slammed his fist down onto the heavy wooden desk with great anger over what he read." The pope has turned a blind eye to what the Nazi's are doing to the Jewish people! " Mathew yelled out as Andros looked up at his son from the book that he was reading. " He sits in Rome on his fat ass and does nothing to help.......it's like he doesn't care! " Mathew said then stood up slamming the paper down on the desk and walking towards a large window that looked out into the gardens. While Mathew looked out into the darkness he remembered the first time that he saw the German tanks roaring down the road in front of the manor. It was just after the fall of Pairs, Mathew and his children, Lillian & Andrew watched as the tanks and troops passed down the road during that late afternoon in June. France had fallen so quickly, it seemed like a terrible nightmare.

Isabella was a beautiful woman - currently standing in the night under the gardens. She was dressed in a long black skirt and a bright blue tunic of a shirt. She was fond of the light and freedom of skirts. Her black curls where pinnned into a beautiful French twist that left ringlets to fall around her ears and the sides of her face. She looked up hearing him exclaiming his displeasure with the Pope. She, had been turned by Matthew's father, and then somehow had managed to convince Matthew not to kill her. She'd always admired the priest and she'd befriended him Carefully. She had also been human.

The Pale olive skin gleamed in the night. When she'd been turned she'd run to Matthew Confused and unable to cope with what had happened. Begged him for help. The Dhampyre smelled like Vampire she'd never realized that until the turning and... she was still tryng to figure out what had convinced him not to kill her. She had a feeling it had been the smell and the tears. She'd been so upset when she killed several of her servants in her hunger. "What is it Matthew? She asked softly as she watched him, in the window. He cut such a Handsome Silhoette. She held out a hand to the man in the window. Come, enjoy the garden with me. The sensitivity of their ears and other senses meant she didn't have to shout for him to hear her. "The moon is beautiful. She added with a smile of blood red lips.

Since Mathew had found out the truth of his past, he held out hope that humans, vampires and lycans could live together without killing each other. The vampires & lycans had a long hatred for each other, even longer then Mathew had hated Andros. These creatures of the darkness hunted humans for food. The church was mankind's only hope and thus The Angles of Death were formed. Mathew had been born in a small farming community many miles from London. His mother Elizabeth was at that time married to a man named Edward Price. Everyone had thought Edward was the father of Elizabeth's new baby. But the truth was, Edward was unable to have any children. The couple had tried over and over again with out luck. Elizabeth had lost all hope in having children. Then one night while Edward was out drinking himself drunk at a nearby pub, a strange and very handsome man paid Elizabeth a visit. This man had seen Elizabeth and wanted to be with her. He came to her that night and made love too her like Edward never could. That was the night that Elizabeth fell in love with another man, he was Andros Adonis.

From that one together, Andros's fathered what would become his most dangerous foe. Mathew was born 9 months later which would have made most man happy. Edward however had doubts about whether this child was really his. Mathew had been a very happy child while growing up. However, one day when Mathew was 10 years old, he become very ill and no doctor knew how to help him. The doctors who looked at Mathew said that the boy would die with in days. He seemed to have some strange illness that the doctors couldn't cure. Elizabeth could stay and watch her son die, nor could she stay with a man that she no longer loved. She left the house believing that Mathew would be dead in hours.

There was something wrong with Mathew and no doctor could help him. His body was undergoing changes which was turning him into what he was born to be. The night was calm when Mathew finally awoke from the coma like state he had fallen into. Mathew didn't understand what was happening too him, but something was driving the young boy. He had a growing hunger which no human food would satisfy. Mathew finally heard the noise the farm animals. He stepped from the house holding a knife in his hands. One of the goats was in a pen not far away. Something deep inside of Mathew was driving him towards what he needed. Mathew walked to the pen, entered it and killed the goat with the knife. He feed upon the still warm blood of the animal and suddenly, Mathew felt so much better. Mathew felt better, but he also knew that if people found out what he had done, they would think he was a monster. He took his fill of blood then held the goats body far off in the woods.

Mathew had continued to hid his nightly feedings and he grew healthy again. But the man who thought was his father felt that the boy was evil. One day when Mathew was 12, Edward dragged his son to the local church and told the Priest that he could no longer care for the boy. The Priest took Mathew in, but Mathew didn't stay there long. The Priest noticed that Mathew was much stronger then other boys his age. Mathew could ran faster and seemed too heal faster when hurt. Mathew had kept feeding at night and was able to hide what he was doing from those around him. The old Priest felt that Mathew was a gift sent by God to aid mankind in it's battle against the forces of darkness. Mathew was quickly shipped off to Rome where he would spend the next 15 years in training. Mathew first became a Priest, then he was trained in fighting arts from all over the world. He became a skilled master of the blade and choose to use twin swords. During this time, Mathew found that his taste for blood had gone. He felt that some evil must have been inside of him and was driven out after he came to Rome.

Mathew was sent out into the world as a protector of innocent humans. His job was too kill vampires, lycans and any human who served those creatures. Mathew quickly became the most feared of all the Angels of Death. In late 1886, Mathew was sent by the church to kill a vampire name Andros Adonis. This proved to be easier said then done. Andros always found ways of slipping away just when Mathew had him cornered. Mathew continued to track Andros all over the world. In 1889 Andros met a lovely young woman named Isabella. He took a liking too her and end up turning her into a vampire. Isabella after being turned was targeted by another female vampire named Mary. She along with a group of make vampires tried to kill Isabella, but failed. Mathew showed up and saved Isabella. His job was to kill vampires, but whatever was inside of him awoke again. It kept Mathew from killing Isabella and Mathew found himself deeply in love with her. The two of them joined forced stopping Mary and those who followed her.

It was during this time that Elizabeth reappeared. She had gone to be with Andros and was turned by him. She had only recently found out that Mathew was alive and well. Elizabeth had to stop her son from killing his father. She came in just as Mathew had Andros where he always wanted him. Elizabeth told Mathew the truth of why she left and that Andros was his real father. This was a lot for Mathew to take, but Isabella was there for him. She helped him get passed his anger and helped to bring peace to the two former enemies. Mathew found that his hunger for blood returned and he began nightly feedings. Mathew & Isabella wander the world for a while before finally coming to live with Andros & Elizabeth at Brimstone Manor. The past was gone and so was Mathew promise to the church. They had sent Angels of Death to kill him and Isabella, but those Priests all failed. Mathew knew them and how they fought. He was at one time their best warrior. Around 1900 the order of the Angels of Death had been disbanded.

Still wars raged on between vampires and lycans. Man too was killing and beginning to do so in greater numbers then the vampires or lycans could. Time passed on and Mathew stopped aging. He looked like any normal 32 year old male would, but he was older then that. He had dark hair and deep blue eyes. Mathew stood 6'2" inches tall and weighted 210 well built pounds. He was very inches the perfect male from head to toe. Mathew & Isabella settled into their new lives at Brimstone Manor. Mathew took over running Andros's winery which sat only a few miles from the house. Mathew was trying his best to become a man of peace. During World War 1, he and the family helped take care of allied soldiers. They didn't take part in this war, Mathew had requested this from his family. In between the two world wars, Mathew & Isabella had two children. Lillian came first and was the looked very much like her father. Andrew was born a few years later and favored his mother. The two kids grew up happy and safe from what was quickly becoming a more brutal world. When their change into becoming Dhampirs happened, they had help from their parents and grandparents.

Time continued to pass and the world was changing. Mathew was finding it hard to remain a man of peace with so much death going on. The long war between the vampires and lycans finally came to an end, but humans were becoming the problem. While most humans thought of vampires, dhampirs and lycans as myths, other believed in them. Some even started hunting them again like in days gone by. Then came the day that shook Mathew to his core. A man named Adolf Hitler took power in Germany. Mathew felt that this man was pure evil , an evil straight from hell it's self. It wasn't long before Hitler rebuilt the German war machine into an unstoppable force. Another World War soon started and country after country was falling before the Third Reich. Finally the Nazi's came for France and Mathew watched the once proud nation dropped to it's knees in front of Hitler. It was during the started of the war, in it's early days that Hitler was told about the existence of vampires and werewolves. He was also told of how vampires could breed with humans to create a new breed called dhampirs. These dhampirs had all the strengths of vampires without their weaknesses.

Hitler demanded that he have such creatures. He wanted to create a race of super beings which he could use against those countries who stood against him. Gestapo agents along with specially trained SS units were sent out to hunt down and bring back to Berlin as many of these creatures as they could find. Even now, Gestapo agents were searching France for a family unit they had been told about. This family was Mathew's family, but the Gestapo had no name to go on.

The scowl on Mathew's face had turned into a smile when he heard Isabella's voice. She was the a bright light in a world of darkness and evil. He turned towards her showing off his smile. " The moon's beauty pales when compered too your's my love. " Mathew took Isabella's hand, he then turned to his father and said that they were gong for a walk. Andros was glad that Isabella was there for Mathew. His son had grown so grim over how the world had so easily fallen into another war. There was a time when Andros felt bad for turning Isabella. But if he hadn't, Isabella wouldn't be here now when Mathew need her most.

Isabella laced her fingers with her husband's and rested her head against the man's shoulder. She was particularly fond of the man and his idea of piece. She had in many ways adopted his lifestyle over her own, though unlike Andros and his Family and even her husband the woman would have prefered a wagon to this stationary home. But, her children needed stability. Matthew Needed Stability and Traveling with a coffin to protect from the sun just seemed particularly difficult. "Tell me what bothers you, My love." She whispered as they walked the lovely gardens. Looking around slowly, enjoying the pieceful night. She knew it wouldn't last much longer. Humans - Hitler in particular - Was getting entirely to close. But leaving France was out of the question. THere was no way to smuggle out Blood drinkers not in this occupation. They hid their tallents well so that they where still considered human by most who met them.

Isabelle had been a young woman, a Dancer when she'd met Matthew in Italy. The Caravan had just entered the country and had been stationed outside of Rome when he had been returning from a mission. She managed to get his name that first day. Tell his fortune in a playful flirtation - and then gotten invited to Dinner. It seemed the courtship was to lead to nothing. Priests did not Marry - They swore an oath to the Church and bound themselves to Celebacy. Weeks of Friendship had made Isabella wish that he had not been a priest. She (as many a Gypsy) Believed in Vampires and Lycan and Mosters that creeped in the night; but she did not believe it should rest on Matthew's shoulders to protect those who chose to be ignorant. He was putting himself in great danger.

Andros Had in many ways convinced her that the turning would bring him to the man she cared about. She did not realize that it would be another woman who made it all Happen. She was particularly fond of Elizabeth as a result. Now she was simply being the wife she had become. Worrying over her husband and her children and hoping that this war like the last kept them out of it. She didn't think it would.

Mathew looked too the night ask when Isabella asked him what was bothering him. He let out a slight sigh while shaking his head. " Another war has set upon the land......I fear that this war will be unlike anything anyone has ever seen before......The German's seem unbeatable with they're tanks and planes. " Mathew's voice was soft as he spoke, but held some anger from before. " Look how easily Poland fell to the Germans and Russians.......Yugoslavia stood no chance.....Nor did Denmark or Norway......and Sadly neither did France.....The Germans defeated France and sent Britain's army back acrossed the channel. " Mathew again shook his head as he looked at Isabella. " Britain will have to fight alone unless America can enter the war. " Mathew knew that what he had just said was foolish. President Roosevelt had made it painfully clear that America would not get involved with another war in Europe. However, Roosevelt was willing to send ships, planes, tanks and other supplies too England under what would become known as the Lend-Lease Act.

Still England would have to tough it out on it's own. Russia at this time had a non-aggression pact with Germany. This treaty would remain in effect for another year before the Germans would attack Russia. Still there were some in the Russian Government who didn't trust Hitler. Some very brave souls went behind Stalin's back and ordered two German speaking Russian agents to head for Berlin. These agents, one male and one female were told to get inside the Gestapo and find out what if anything the Nazi's were hiding. They would in time end up in France looking for the same family of Dhampirs and Vampires that the Nazi's were hunting. Mother Russia couldn't let such powerful beings fall into the hands of a friend or foe.

England had none for sometime about Mathew's special family. British agents done detailed work on the backgrounds of everyone living at Brimstone Manor. Winston Churchill had grown very worried since the Germans had taken France. This special family was now cut off and well behind enemy lines. Churchill had decided to tell Roosevelt everything they knew about Mathew and his family. Roosevelt could see how such beings would be trouble if the Germans were allowed to capture them. The two leaders hashed out a plan that would send a young American woman into France posing as a college student who got trapped after the Nazi's took over. She would be dropped off on the French coast by submarine. This agent would then make contact with England before making contact with the family. She had orders to appear as if she had been on the run from the Germans. Once a week, she would contact England and make a report. This of course would change if anything went wrong or the Germans had found the family.

Mathew laughed a bit feeling sill for unloading such thoughts onto his wife. " Here I am talking of the future.......When you are the fortune teller. " Mathew's remarks were a reminder of the days when Isabella was just a pretty Gypsy girl. Back then she was poor and lived in a wagon. Now, Isabella had the finest hand made dresses and more money then she could have dreamed of.

Isabella had grown up traveling in Wagons, She spoke French, Spanish, English, Italian, Portugese, and snippits of the Arabian languages. She smiled at her husband as she walked with him. He was always so frustrated. And she considered the situation at hand for a moment. As she considered the family, and the country at large. There was a resistance already formed among the French People, The German's may run the country but they met with problems at every corner. "All May not be lost my love." She said softly as she looked at his hand. She did not want to suggest that they pick up arms again. Her husband was so much happier when he was not fighting - but She also knew he would not stand by with the Germans this close to home. They where far to dangerous.

She would not stand by if they came into her home. Isabelle may not have been terribly violent. But the woman was a vicious killer when cornered. Mary had not expected the fight the Gypsy had had in her when she'd attacked her. Isabelle's main concern at the time was survival. And now it was not only the Survival of Herself but that of her children and her husband and a Father-in-law and Mother-in-law that she had grown to care deeply about. And...Well she smiled some as she paused in their walk making Matthew look at her. Not the best time. but Vampiric Pregnancies where... demanding and Rarely uneventful. "I am Pregnant." And she wouldn't stand for Germany getting in the way of her happiness and it showed by her telling the man this. he was about to be a father again regardless of what the Germans, French, English, Russian, Italian, and American armies did.

Mathew was stunned by the news that Isabella was pregnant again. This was most unexpected, but it did make Mathew feel so much better. His was going to be a father again and Mathew couldn't be prouder. " That's wonderful! " Mathew picked Isabella up into his arms and swung her around in his arms. He lowered Isabella then leaned down placing a soft and sweet kiss upon her lips. Such news was just the kind of thing that Mathew needed to lift his spirits. " Have you told anyone!?......Lilly?.....Andrew.......Mother or Father? " Mathew asked as his mind was now going a mile a minute. This news had to be shared with the family. Andros & Elizabeth were inside the house, but Lilly and her brother were working at the tavern.

During the great war, the family had opened a tavern a mile south of the nearby town of Rosporden. The tavern was only 10 miles from Brimstone Manor it's self. Lillian who the family called Lilly and her brother Andrew were there now. During the days of the great war, this tavern helped the allied soldiers relax. Isabella would dance for them in those days. Lilly was now dancing & singing when she wasn't tending the bar. Andrew was also there taking care of the bar when his sister was busy. This tavern had become a meeting place for the French underground that worked in that area. It was there that Lilly met a young French man named Rene DeSalle. Rene was new around the area and looking for work. Lilly wanted too hire him, but she couldn't. She had to get either her mother or her father to to hire Rene. Since the hour was growing late and they hadn't had anyone in the bar for over 2 hours, Lilly & Andrew locked up and headed for home. Rene was standing in the shadows as the siblings drove off in their car. He had spent the last 2 days getting closer too Lilly and it was paying off.

She laughed softly as he suddenly reacted. He looked so stunned she loved that caught look he always got when she gave him news. She made an effort to always surprise her husband. "And spoil the surprise?" She asked innocently as he asked if she'd told anyone. She hugged her husband as he lifted her and as her little feet where put back on the ground the short woman stood on her toes to kiss him in return. Arms wrapped happily around his neck. "Only you know, My love. She told him lightly. then she gave a little grin. "Perhaps Mother would like to know? And Father Andros." they could go and spread the good cheer to the rest of the family. Children where a boon to the Dwindling Vampire line. And Andros might not push for them but each one eased his mind a little more, she could see it.

Lilly and Andrew could learn when they got home. Isabelle was going to have to tell her daughter to be careful - she'd seen the prep the girl went through to ready herself the last few days. Something was going on at the Tavern and the woman was concerned as to what could possibly be happening there. There was far to many Germans in the City for her to be comefortable with Lilly working there but she trusted both Andrew and Lilly to care for themselves she did. Lilly was just her baby girl and she cared more about what might or might not happen to the woman.

' Come my love.....Let's share this wonderful news with Mother & Father. " Mathew spoke with such a proud look on his face. He wasn't the best at hiding such news. When Isabella first told Mathew that she was pregnant with Lilly, Mathew was bursting. He couldn't hold back from telling anyone and everyone that he was to be a father. The household staff had heard the news long before Andros & Elizabeth. Mathew took Isabella by the hand, he lifted it and placed a kiss upon the back. " I love you.....So very much. " Mathew eye's were smiling as brightly as the moon above them.

Andros was sitting in the study reading his book when Elizabeth came in. She looked around not seeing Mathew, or Isabella. She walked over to the large radio which sat acrossed from the fireplace. Elizabeth switched it on and tuned into Radio London. She enjoyed music and really liked the big band swing music. You could no longer hear music on French Radio. the Nazi's took control over everything. Radio London was the only place where one could hear the real news and music. The Nazi's would in tine let stations in France broadcast again. But they would only play what the Nazi's allowed.

It wasn't a long drive from the tavern to the manor. 10 miles goes by quickly when one is driving fast. Lilly pulled the car up to the garage as Andrew jumped from the car. " HOLY SHIT SIS!! " Andrew yelled out. " We didn't have to fly home! " Andrew added as his sister walked up to him and playfully grabbed him by the chin. " You're such a baby sometimes. " Lilly let her brother go and ran into the house. She was hoping to find her mother first. Lilly was sure that she could talk her mother into hiring Rene. If that failed, she was use her best pout on her Father.

Isabelle smiled as she was lead inside and she happily enjoyed her husbands glowing attentions as they entered the study she let the music drift over her and she smiled greatful for the sound for a moment, It was blissuflly silent outside but the music was something she would always enjoy. "Mother - Father. We've Great news!" She cried in pleasure as they came in and she reached out for Andros's hand. She had discovered she very much liked Andros even if he had turned her into a vampire and made her fear for her life at one point.

When She had both their attention she smiled, A grin that showed those pearly whites. "I am Pregnant!" She announced. The cheers and pleasure filled the room and she watched Andros. looking for the excitement and Relief that she knew would be in his face. His line had been dangerously Low when Matthew was the only one. And now there where three more.

Lilly wasn't sure where her Mother would be, but when she heard the music coming from the study, she held out hope that she would be there. Lilly entered the room as everyone was hugging, laughing and even crying. Her Grandmother was crying, her Grandfather had the biggest grin on his face as he was hugging Isabella. " Such wonderful news my dear. " Andros said then he gave Isabella a kiss on the cheek. He had kept a silent secret from Isabella & Mathew. Andros had planned on having sex with Isabella when they first met. He wanted to mate with her and have her carry his child. This however change when Andros bit Isabella during the struggle. He should have stopped himself from taking her then, but her blood tasted so very sweet. Later Andros found out that Mathew was his son and that Mathew had fallen in love with Isabella. Still after all these years, Andros wondered if Isabella noticed the lustful looks he would give her. He of course would never touch Isabella in a sexual way now.

Lilly stood looking at her family as Andrew came in just after her. " What's going on? " Andrew whispered too his sister as she just shook her head. " I have no idea.....It's hard to tell really. " Lilly spoke to Andrew then she stepped closer. " Is everything okay? " Lilly's voice was soft, but loud enough for those gathered too hear her. Andrew came up and stood beside his sister as the family turned towards them. They couldn't hide their happiness if they tried. " Your mother had something important too tell you both. " Mathew's face was beaming as he placed an arm around Isabella's waist. The kids looked on somewhat dumbfounded by the happening since they came home.

Isabella smiled as she was hugged and she kissed Andros's cheek for she hugged Elizabeth and kissed her cheeks several times and whiped her face and then she was back in Matthew's arms and happy as a cat that ate a Cannary. "I am having another baby!" She told them happily as she looked at her children clapping a couple of times. Giggling in her excitement.

Lilly blinked stunned and what she wanted to ask became secondary to the news and she understood why everyone was happy. Andrew grinned and Congradulated his mother. What else did you do in that case? you didn't go complainign that your sister was insane and should never drive a car you moved and hugged your very excited mother.

Isabelle hugged her son and tilted her head as she watched her daughter. "What is on your mind?" She asked the girl finally.

Lilly stood for a moment after her mother had asked what was on her mind. She thought that perhaps another time was better too ask if Rene could have a job. This was a time for the family to come together and enjoy the news of another member on the way. " It can keep until tomorrow Mom.....I'm so happy for you and Dad. " Lilly had a huge smile on her face as she threw her arms around Isabella's neck. She was glad that the family was so happy now. Her Father seemed so grim since the Germans invaded France. The news on the war made him even worse. The Germans seemed to be everywhere. Four soldiers even came into the tavern tonight. This news she wasn't planning on sharing with her Father.

The Butler, Jenkins appeared at the door to the study. He announced that two gentlemen wished too speak with Master Andros. This was puzzling since the hour was late, but Andros asked Jenkins to show the men in. A moment after leaving, Jenkins reappeared with two German Officers standing behind him. " Field Marshal Herman Von Strucker and his Aide.......Captain Erik Warner. " Jenkins then bowed and left the room. Von Strucker looked over everyone in the room. He could see the stunned looks in their faces, but he was use to this. " I am the Commanding Officer of the German Army Group B........We've set up a base 25 miles from your house.....My Aide and I are traveling around introducing ourselves to the families of good breeding. " The Field Marshal wasn't a tall man, he stood only 5'9" and weighted 175 lbs. His aide, Captain Warner was handsome with blonde hair, blue eyes, standing 6 feet while weighting 190lbs.

Mathew suddenly felt his blood begin to boil. He couldn't believe that these men dared to enter this house. Mathew felt the need for ripping out their throats. Lilly on the other hand was quite taken with the handsome Captain. She knew that his uniform wasn't going over very well with her Father, but she found him to be cute.

Isabelle put a restraining hand on her husband's arm. A slient command to Calm down as she watched the men who'd entered. 25 miles, which direction? Good breeding? Of course they did.Their breeding was nearly 1000 years in the making. She though would not be the one they found appealing. Wiht her dark skin, and dark hair and Dark eyes. I twas the French side of the family. She also put a hand on her daughters arm. Looking at the girl for a moment. "Andrew, Lilly, Could you two see to drinks for our guests?" She asked to remove the girl from the room.

"That will not be necessary miss." The Field Marshal.

"Oh I insist." Isabella said as Andrew took the Que as her daughter was pushed towards her brother and they went ot get wine. "You cannot come and introduce yourself and not have a glass of wine." She kept a hand on Matthew knowing which man would be the more likely to attack.

Elizabeth took a que from her daughter - in - Law. "Please, Have a seat." She told the men indicating the wing-back chairs not being used. "Tell me, where is your base? 25 miles can be many different places around here."

Andros like his son wasn't happy with these men being in his home. But unlike Mathew, Andros kept himself calm. He knew that there would a time and place for killing. That time and place was not here in the family home. Andros allowed Isabella and Elizabeth to entertain the men while he took Mathew by the arm. He pulled Mathew aside while the ladies began speaking with the Germans. Andros whispered too his son a warning about keeping himself calm. They couldn't afford making trouble with these men inside the house. Mathew gave his Father his word that those men would be safe.

Lilly & Andrew returned with the wine and two glasses. She openly flirted with the handsome Captain as she poured his wine. " 25 miles west of here Madam. " Field Marshal Von Strucker added as Lilly poured him a glass of wine. He noticed the bottle which Lilly was holding in her hand. It was Brimstone Wine, one of his favorites. Von Strucker remarked about keeping many bottles in his own wine cellar back at his home in Stuttgart. Andros walked over thanking the Field Marshal. He told the two officer that they were the one who owned the Brimstone Winery. Andros then asked Andrew to get the gentlemen two cases of wine from the cellar. " Andrew will place it in your car. " The Field Marshal was pleased. He hadn't expect too meet the very family who makes such a flavorful wine. " Please for give my manners......I am Andros Adonis.....This is my wife Elizabeth.......My son Mathew.......His lovely wife Isabella.......My Granddaughter Lillian.....And that young man was my Grandson Andrew. " The Field Marshall was stunned too hear that the man standing before him was a grandfather. He looked so young and fit. Andros always wore his brown hair long. He was just a shade under 6 feet and weighted 180 lbs. " You look so young Sir......May I ask what your secret is? " Captain Warner spoke up. Andros gave a lite laugh before answering. " I go to bed early every night......I eat plenty of protein.....I never argue with my wife and I drink Brimstone wine. " Andros smiled at the two officers, he was a master of using his charm to disarm those around him. It was one of his skills that kept him alive all these years. The Field Marshal laughed then toasted this charming family.

Isabella Let Andros take over the entertaining and laughed when the man mentioned he didn't argue with his wife. She watched her daughter making sure that the look she sent the girl was subtle enough that the men wouldn't see it. It was unlady-like to flirt with men in your home. Especially when those men where well... German. When her son left to handle cases of Wine she leaned against her husband's side. "Listen to him gentalmen, My Father is particularly well versed in staying happy." She assured them.

Elizabeth smiled at them herself as she sat on the couch where Andros would eventually realight. "Lillian, Dear, do have a seat." She instructed her granddaughter. She two found the flirtatious handling of the German Captian unacceptable. And found a polite way to tell the girl to stop.

Lilly listened to the woman, you didn't disrespect family, and Elizabeth was the matriarch of the house until the day she either was killed or Isabella truely stepped in and took over the job. But, her mother seemed less inclined to take over - her and Matthew cared for the winery and the Tavern, they left the family to Andros and Elizabeth. She relucantly moved away from the Captian. Sitting herself in one of the open seats, though the only open ones where behind a desk or in the window. She chose the window seat. THey kept her in the conversation - but both mothers seemed pleased that she was no across the seating area from the guests.

Isabella looked at the Captian, and the Field Marshall, "So, you are in Ploneis?" She asked them curiously. The marshall nodded. "Yes Ma'am." He responded to the woman who consideredt his.

"I've a friend over there, Madam Rusellione." She responded. "she makes fantastic Biskets." she chuckled.

Lily knew that she was in trouble for flirting, but the Captain was so handsome and this was the 1940's for God sake. The dark ages ended years ago and Lilly was feeling the urge to mate. She had reached a point where her body wanted to be touched. Plus knowing that her mother was pregnant again was making Lilly long for a baby of her own. Lilly $ Andrew were taught from the very beginning that Grandma and Grandpa were the finally word in this house. They were the elders of the family after all and vampire elders were always respected.

Mathew wrapped his left arm around Isabella's waist when she leaned into him. Just having her there made this madding scene bearable. He could have easily killed those men before they even had the chance too know what was happening. But, still Mathew knew deep down that his wife & father were right. The house was no place for a bloodbath. It had been many years since Mathew was a warrior. Still he could smell, taste and even feel the rush & trill that came from combat. Mathew had been the best Angel of Death the church had and it was all thanks to him being a Dhampir. After seeing those German Officers inside the family's home, Mathew knew that it was time too fight again. He had longed too live in a world of peace, but that wasn't going to happen. The war was no longer somewhere else, it had come into this very house.

Field Marshal Von Strucker and Captain Warner enjoyed their time with this family. Von Strucker even remarked that it was refreshing too find people of such good breeding. His meaning of breeding was that they were wealthy and had class. Unlike the poor around the area who would spit at the Germans as they passed by. Von Strucker informed Andros and his family that they had nothing too fear from him or his men. The family was free to continue making and selling their wines & other spirits. He assured them that nothing would change since the Germans took over. After two more delightful glasses of wine, the time came for Von Strucker and Warner to leave. This was their last stop of the day and they had 25 miles to travel before reaching their beds. Andros showed the two officers to the front door and thanked them for the visit.

Once the German's were gone, Andros returned to the study. The family was still there and Andrew had returned. " The war has come too our door step......We can no longer sit idly by and hope for the best......We must take action or risk letting the Germans find out who and what we all are. " Andros stood in front of the family as he spoke. He looked at each member as they looked back at him. " We must keep a close eye on those two.......Von Strucker is a fool but his Aide could be trouble.......We must also know how many men Von Strucker has under his command......What types of weapons they have and where they're kept. " Andros then looked at his son. " It's been many years since your skills as a hunter have been used my son.......I'm sure you know what needs done now. " Mathew squeezed Isabella a bit harder against him when Andros spoke too him. " Yes it has......And yes I know Father. " Mathew knew very well what his father wanted done. Andros wanted his son to put those skills he learned all those years ago to good use. Mathew would seek out and find the German's camp. He would then gather the information and return to the manor. This was of course dangerous, but no more dangerous then the work Mathew did when he was a Priest.

Isabella right after they left growled and walked to the window watching them head to their car, dipping her finger in one of the large candles she insisted be lit at all times in the home. At least while people where up. She went about lighting them every night. And she wrote a warding signal across one of the window pains. "Pigs." She hissed. Ready to flay the one who insisted on their great breeding. She had been Poor - her people where some of the type Hitler was putting inside concentration camps. "Lillly - Do not go anywhere NEAR the germans." she told her daughter. She would get the girl what she needed for protection - much like she would everyone else within days. "They are dangerous." She added.

Lilly opened her mouth to protest but Isabella spun on her. "I said Do NOT go near them!" She snapped. "That little French Man you keep telling me about at the Tavern. Hire him. As I know you want to - DO NOT go near the germans. They will kill you before they do anything else. You are Gypsy." She warned her.

Andros and Elizabeth blinked stunned by the outbirst. Isabella didn't do this very often. She lookeda t Matthew. "Make sure they never come to this house again." She told her husband.

Lilly was quite shocked when her mother spoke the ways she did too her. Everyone was taken by surprise at how suddenly Isabella lashed out virtually at her daughter. Each knew the reasons why Isabella was so fired up. The Germans were taking those people who they felt didn't match up to their idea of good breeding. Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Dwarfs and people with birth defects and mental problems were all being shipped off to concentration camps, or locked away in asylums. Families being ripped apart in the name of Aryan perfection. Lilly rose up from her chair, she looked around the room. " If I can be excused.....I'd like to go too my room. " Elizabeth turned her head from where Isabella stood to where Lilly was. She just nodded her head and Lilly darted from the room. Lilly had never seen her mother in such a state before and it frightened her.

" Isabella.......Don't you think that was a bit harsh? " Mathew was of course speaking about how Isabella snapped at Lilly. " I know full well what the Nazi's are doing.......We all do.......But don't them set us at each other's throats. " Mathew's words were soft as he came up behind Isabella placing his hands onto her shoulders. He knew that Isabella wanted him too kill those men, but what Andros wanted wasn't blood. There would be time for killing, Andros wanted information on the German's strength in the area. Right now the Germans were in the dark about this special family. This fact could change at anytime and Andros needed to know what they were facing.

She pointed out that window. "our Daughter is more interested in what that GERMAN looks like than what he's capable of. I will not Have her thinking this is some petty game of Thrones. Those Men will take our daughter to one of those camps before believe she's not part Gypsy and you better believe they'll come after me when they realize I'm not a French Maden with dark hair." She warned her husband. That Vehemence still there. She would speak again and nicer to her later. but she was making sure her point had been made. "If you think me to Harsh Matthew. You to talk to her and tell her everything those Germans have done in Poland, Switzerland, Paris - And Do not think I have not kept up on the current affairs. I read that paper before they bring it to you." She was quite now, but raging. She closed those dark eyes and inhaled slowly. Tryign to bring back that inner peace she'd had before those Germans interrupted her life.

Mathew would speak with his daughter, but that had to wait. Right now Mathew had a mission, he would go to the German camp and spy on them. Intelligence gathering was nothing new too Mathew. It was common when he used the night as cover in order to seek out the enemy. The enemy had changed since those long gone days. Mathew was no longer stalking and killing vampires & lycans. His skills would be turned against the German army and those who served evil. The hour was already late and Mathew knew that he wouldn't get back until Isabella and his parents retired before the dawn came. Mathew took Isabella into his arms placing a kiss upon her lips. " Rest well my love.......I'll see you when you awake. " Mathew gave her a wink of his eye. He then bid his parents a good rest after assuring his father that he would have the information Andros wanted.

Mathew left the study and dashed upstairs. He entered his & Isabella's bedroom going to the large closet. He reached in pulling out a huge black trunk. Once the trunk was unlocked, Mathew pulled out the outfit he use to wear while being an Angel of Death. These clothes were not what a Priest would normally wear. Everything was black, his shirt, pants, boots and a long leather coat where his weapons would be carried. There was no need for holy water or sliver throwing stakes, but his twin swords could be useful. Even thought the swords hadn't been used in many years, Mathew always kept them razor sharp. Mathew slipped the swords into the back of his coat, they crossed over his back. He then went to the balcony doors in the bedroom, opened them and stepped out into the night air. Mathew closed the doors then leaped down to the ground. He was soon gone into the shadows heading for the German camp.

Lilly in her room seemed distraut. Then again Isabella had never done as she had tonight - and literally forced her will, normally she allowed the girl to be the free spirit she was. And so when her mother knocked on the door an hour perhaps two later she was hessitant to answer though she finally did. She looked at her mother Dubiously.

"I apologize for being so nasty - But I implore you to listen to what I said." She said softly. Her mother was apologizing.

"You're forgiven." She muttered though there was displeasure lacing the tone in her voice. She moved letting Isabella into the room.

"I got far nastier with an adult woman than I should have. And I do try to treat you as an adult Lilly." She said softly as she wrote the mark on the girl's window. Lilly arched a brow. Watching as she smeared Wax across a lower pane.

"Why did you do it then?"

"Because that German Pig would sooner hang me for being a gypsy than be in my home." She pointed out. "Had we lived like I did as a girl - all of us would be in a concentration camp."

Lilly blinked, her mother never really talked of her life. But she had joked of giving Lilly a Wagon and horse when she was of age and a portable dark space to sleep in. "You really lived ina Wagon?" She asked.

"Yes." Isabella sat down and her daughter cautiously joined her. "When I was a young girl - my mother danced for coins and my father sold Tonics and Gin." She started off as she took her daughters hand. "I learned to dance, I learned to steal, I learned quite the intersting assortment of skills including lockpicking. By the time I was 10 I could get away with a man's bilfold with them never being the wiser." Bella smiled just a tad as she recalled being a young girl. "By the time I was 16 I danced as well and sometimes better than my momma. And I was entertaining guests while the younger children in our Trope did what I used to. One night. I met your father... Matthew came to see someone who was hiding among our wagons. We where enjoying meals around fires and singing with eachother - ladies dancing in the flames while girls braided hair and did up fingernails. We worked coins into scarfs and Joked with the strangers working our wagons.

"I caught your father's attention when I almost spilled wine on his black robes. Oh you should have seen it! I was so imbarassed. But he was so sweet about it, No demanding I apologize or grovel or anything of the like. He smiled at me. Asked if I knew someone. I told him yes but I did not know where the man was at the time - I lied. I think he knew I lied. But the man he sought was a hard worker in the caravan and I wasnt' about to tell someone who was a stranger where he was. So - instead I invited your Father to sit and sup with us. And enjoy the music. He did. More I think to find out about the one he was looking for than anything else. He did this for nearly a week before someone finally told him where the man worked. By then I cannot decide if he came to see me or he was still hunting the vampire. Though... After the Vampire's demise he still came around. My father didn't trust the man of hte cloth but would never tell him to leave." Isabella paused. "We left the town two weeks later. I left Matthew with my Tarot cards. And a Fortune of death and destruction and the end of a path." She smiled. "I did not realize that it would be the end of both of our paths."

Lilly listened stunned as her mother Recounted the first meeting with her Father.

Isabella smiled. "I did not see your father again for nearly a month when our caravan entered a City he was in. We played Court for nearly a week." She chuckled. "And then he was gone. We met Again in Rome, Once in Venna. I was turned in Monte Carlo. By Andros and... I ran to Matthew terrified I had been in hiding for nearly a month before he'd come into the city hunting. He saved me." She grinned. "And you know the rest."

Mathew left the Manor behind him. He slipped away into the country side being mindful of everything going on around him. As the miles between the German camp and Brimstone Manor melted away, Mathew felt more like he did long ago. He remembered the hunts and who he enjoyed tracking his prey. The country side hardly seemed any different from those days even thought the cities were much bigger and more modern. The only major change that was often seen around the country side was vehicles. Cars and trucks moving along the roads once only used by horses, carts and wagons.

Mathew would have to stop when he came to a road. He needed to check both ways in case a German patrol was out on the roads. None were seen until Mathew grew closer to the German camp. Mathew saw two checkpoints leading up towards the main entrance of the camp. The roads with in a mile of the camp had patrols moving around. Mathew was able to avoid these easily. He was soon sitting on a hillside over looking the camp below. The Germans had guards at different parts around the camp area. Mathew started taking mental notes on everything he was seeing. He spotted where the motor pool was and where the barracks which housed the men were. Mathew spotted other builds such the hospital and what he believed to be Von Strucker's headquarters. He heard some noises coming towards him. Mathew slipped back into the shadows headed for a new spot. There were a few roaming guards wandering around the woods just outside of the camp. When Mathew reappeared, he was on the other side of the camp. This is where Mathew saw the ammo dump. This was the place where the Germans kept the ammunition for their weapons and their explosives. Mathew had a better view of the motor pool from here. He saw the trucks and cars used by the Germans, plus he was able too see the tanks.

Lilly seemed to finally understand her mother and the fear that she'd shown, Hitler's master race was not an unknown, everyone knew what he was doing. "Alright Momma, I will stay away from the Germans." She said softly.

Isabella smiled as she brushed her daughters cheek.

"And I can Hire Rene?"

She moved standing. "Well, before you do I would make sure it is fine with your Brother. The two of you run the Tavern with a joint effort. But I did say you could so hash it out between the two of you. I will see you next evening." She said softly kissing her forehead and she walked away. Moving through the rest of the house systematically blowing candles out for the morning and marking the wards into the panes of glass.

"Mother... What is that for?" Andrew finally asked.

"It is a protection Ward from Evil." Isabella responded looking at him. "From a world long since forgotten by most. But not me." She said as her boy followed her around the house and he blew candles out while she wrote. "Your sister wishes to Hire Rene." She told him softly. As they walked.

"I know." He assured. "I don't like him." He added. "Something about him just... rubs me wrong." He had heard the outburst so he knew that her mother had said the girl could, but he didn't have to be willing.

Isabella nodded as they reached his room and she drew on the window. "Sleep well, Andrew." She kissed her son's cheek and then left the room closing the door behind her. To do the rest of the windows in the Manor before going to her own sleeping chambers and closed the door behind Matthew. "Safe hunting - My love." She whispered before going to the larger coffin hidden in the closet.

Mathew spent his time ducking and dodging German patrols as he spied on their camp. Once Mathew climbed a tree as two sets of guards, one set from the east and one from the west came into the area. They passed beneath the tree without noticing Mathew. It would have been an easy task for Mathew to have killed those four men. But such a move would have been reckless and at this time unwise. The last thing Mathew wanted at this time was for the Germans to be on their guard. Right now these Germans were relaxed, they had beaten France and chased the British Army back acrossed the channel. Mathew made another close pass around the camp, he even entered it for a few minutes. He was pretty sure about the number of men Von Strucker had under his command. Mathew had counted each tank, twice just to make sure the count was right.

With the darkness starting to fade, Mathew slipped away leaving the Germans unaware that anyone had been spying on them. Mathew had to be little more careful moving around since the dawn was breaking. He finally reached the safety of Brimstone Manor just after 8am. Mathew was glad too see the black stones which made up the outer shell of the fine old home. It was from these black stones that the Manor took it's name since they looked like the fabled stones from the bible. Mathew entered the Manor and was greeted by Jenkins. He asked the family's faithful butler to get his a glass of blood and to bring it to the study. Normally fresh from the vein is how vampires and dhampirs enjoy their blood. But there were times when that just couldn't happen. So the humans who worked in the house and on the property willing gave their blood to be bottled for their masters and mistresses.

Mathew removed his long black coat and laid it over a chair. He then quickly set about writing down everything that he saw. Jenkins brought in the glass of warm blood and set it upon the desk. Mathew thanked Jenkins then continued with his work. He expected that his children would be rising with in the next few hours. Mathew was planning on speaking with both of them about strangers. Mathew wasn't about to let anyone get close too his daughter with out him knowing who it was. He also expected that Andrew keep a close eye on Lilly. Mathew knew very well that Lilly was being to feel the urge to mate. Soon it would happen too Andrew and there would be 2 horny dhampirs running around. There were no other vampires or dhampirs in this area and Andros wouldn't stand for his grandchildren mating with lycans. Andros had a long hatred for lycans since a small group had killed his former wife.
