“Alexis! Breakfast is ready!”
The words echoed, but they didn’t stir her; it was safe to say she enjoyed her sleep. As she shuffled around to face away from the door, the female let out a groggy groan. The blankets were pulled up over her head and it wasn’t until her mother’s voice sounded again that she darted up right.
“Alexis! You’ll be late for school!”
Alexis stared forwards with bright blue eyes at her small, curtain covered window before turning to look towards to door. She knew she couldn’t be late. To stay on her scholarship she had to be on time every day and stay in the top three students of her class. Why couldn’t she have just gone to a normal school?
“Alexis!”
“I’m up! I’m up!”
Climbing from her bed, she gave a quick stretch and then rubbed her eyes quickly. Alexis quickly slid off her baby pink pyjama bottoms before starting to undo her matching button up shirt. Discarding the garments on her unmade bed, she walked across the room in only her white bra and panties set towards her small wardrobe. Opening it always managed to depress her. Girls her age had so many clothes to choose from and she had hardly anything; she couldn’t remember the last time she’d brought something new. Letting out a small sigh, she pulled a black skirt from a hanger followed by a white button up shirt and a sleeveless, jumper-style tank top in her school colours. The garment was a solid black while there was a red hem around then arms, neck and around the bottom of the item with the school logo embroidered on the left breast. Pulling the skirt up her thighs, she quick fastened it around her hips and then began on the shirt, which she buttoned and tucked in quickly. She then pulled the vest over her head before freeing her long blonde hair. Alexis swiftly jerked on her regulation over the knee black school socks before making her way over towards the mirror resting on the wall above her desk besides her bookcase. Picking up a hair brush, she rushed to comb through her blond locks before dashing out of her bedroom and down the stairs, turning left into her small family kitchen where her father, mother and younger brother sat enjoying their breakfast.
“Good morning.” Alexis gave a quick smile to her family before sitting at the table next to her brother. She scoffed down her buttered toast and gulped a cup of apple juice before thanking her parents for the breakfast and heading quickly out towards the hallway. She really couldn’t be late.
“I’m going on ahead!”
Slipping on a pair of scuffed black shoes and picking up her black messenger bag that contained her school things, she left, dashing out of her front door screaming frantic goodbyes.
-------
It didn’t take her long to get to school; just a quick bus ride that passed the town centre before stopping just down the street of Kings Private Academy which she was unfortunately made to attend. Of course she wasn’t angry with them; she knew they only wanted what was best for her but she couldn’t help but feel out of place. She didn’t belong here and everyone seemed to know that. Sucking in a deep breath, Alexis began through the grand gate and entered the school premises quietly. If she stayed quiet, maybe she wouldn’t get noticed as much.
