Why do you care?
Anyone familiar with 'Escape From New York' and 'Escape From L.A.' is very familiar with Snake Plissken and how the future of the US has become a crime ridden dystopia. However, the view of 'crime' is in the eye of the beholder to an extent. The US is governed by a president whose term is permanent. His views are radical, putting it mildly. Such things as consuming alcohol, smoking, being an atheist (or any non-Christian religion), eating red meat, etc etc etc get you a one way ticket to prison. However, prison isn't typical any longer. It's not a building with cell blocks or detention halls. It's no longer a facility where criminals are placed depending on the crime. Instead, criminals are placed on one big island surrounded by a containment wall where there is only an entrance, no exit. Police and special forces do not enter the island of criminals. Instead, they surround the perimeter on the other side of the containment wall. Inside the walls, the criminals are allowed free reign to do what they will and thus allowed to make the place their own. Inside it's the rules of the criminals and the criminals vary from what we would deem a true innocent to the truly criminally insane.

Anyone interested in this group RP, the setting would take place inside the containment wall where the criminals reign and it'll take place probably a generation or so AFTER 'Escape from L.A.'. Characters can vary from innocent to the twisted and depending on what people want to do with them, they can vie for power over the island of criminals to wanting to just survive to wanting justice for others, etc.

The biggest question as of now is where to hold the prison. Should it be NY, LA or another location entirely? A potential might be Miami...

Also, if there's enough interest, I'll post a template for character profiles that will need to be submitted for approval. Nothing major, just something to ensure some basic things. :)

Awesome!!! For some finer details concerning how things would fit into the timeline of the movies.....


After escaping LA, Snake Plissken shut down the Earth. During the time it takes for the Earth to get back 'up', he goes off the grid and is eventually thought to be dead. Again. Thinking him dead and gone, they build yet another containment wall around another area--the once peninsula, but now island (due to floods from hurricanes) that is part of the city of Miami, FL (extends from Bal Harbor down to Flamingo Lummus). This new jail rivals the ones that still exist in both Manhattan and Los Angeles. Once again, criminals only reside on the island where their rules are the way of life. Police and special forces only patrol the wall that surrounds it and never enter inside. And criminals only go in, they never come out.

I see potential here for people to have characters that range from insane to innocent and anything in between. I see potential for gangs and alliances to form, for various criminals to try and take over the island sort of like how Duke did for Manhattan. I see people attempting to escape. I even see people attempting to get in from the outside as a means of escaping the hypocrisies of America. So basically, a slew of all sort of possibilities and then some. :)

But I felt the need to delve a bit deeper and give a bit of insight from my own perspective to help draw more interest.

going to send my profile in a few min (still new to RP and that will be the first character profile thing to ever fill out so please forgive me if i mess anything up lol) I got a couple quick questions about the storyline if you don't mind. 1 of the big ones is the environment of the location. Will it be closer to NY where it was based more in a realistic setting that had just been pretty much destroyed or a little more over the top like how in LA there were the earthquakes and tidal waves out of control throughout the story? Meaning like your saying Miami was separated basically from Hurricanes or a strong one right so is it like normal hurricane seasons otherwise or has the global weather changed dramatically to where we can expect harsh weather to be a normal part of the life within the prison? Also what kind of tech/weapons are within the prison if taking place post LA has the electric situations been fixed or will this be based on using non electric things such as candles or torches for light and things of that sort. Sorry for all the questions just want to have a background idea going into the role play to base things off of. also going to have to get used to doing a multi-thread RP as that will be new to me as well i have VERY limited RP experience and only with it being in a single thread hope you don't mind a Rookie being on board for this RP as i am very interested in the concept for the story.

No worries, questions are a good thing. As for timeline, this is indeed taking place after the events of LA. So, Earth had indeed been shut down for a time, but it has indeed come back 'up' as well. But I'm thinking that things aren't quite up to where they were in LA, perhaps almost because they've had recoup losses and such and it's been taking them time to regain that. So they do have technology, but my thinking is that it'll fall more along the lines of somewhere in between NY and LA, but probably closer to that of NY. Of course, there might be pockets where people with enough intelligence and resources are able to scavenge themselves up some things, but that's about it and I'd consider it limited. As for location and such, this will indeed be taking place in Miami. I'm thinking that with all the global nonsense of late and probably things that could potentially happen in the future (and given the stuff that happened in the LA movie), it's not outside the realm of possibility that floodings and other resulting disasters from hurricanes in that area could occur isolating off some of the various areas of Miami. If you look at a map of Miami, there is an area that's a peninsula running north/south along Miami's Atlantic coast. My thought is that peninsula can get fully cut off and become a full out island, which will become our prison setting.

Hope that helps in answering your questions for the most part. Also, don't worry about being new to RPing or any of that. We're all pretty laid back here and NEVER hesitate in asking questions or anything like that. Also, since people seem interested, perhaps I'll start an OOC (out of character) thread for discussion? Yes? I'll post a link to that momentarily. :)

sent the PM with character info but um wasn't sure how to paste the code seeing there are a few little buttons for various codes I'm not very Tech smart when it comes to some things so not sure if i did it right i apologize if i didn't. also i didn't include a character image wasn't sure how to do that either tips on how to do that stuff very much welcome on this end lol.

Not a problem. But a simple copy/paste of the stuff inside the white box is good enough and then you can fill in the blanks. :) But not a problem. We'll iron out any tweaks that need to be made, so don't sweat it. :) As for a character image....... if you aren't sure on what to do there, that's ok. First step is to find something on the internet you like, we'll worry about size and such later. So go ahead and find something and provide a link. :)

got it figured out now fixed it up and put the photo (had someone show me how to get it to show up lol) and posted it all on the character profile section. are you looking for people to only play 1 character each or can we do more then one ? and thanks by the way for the understand/tips on the things i had questions on or messed up on in my message to ya.

Aww... no problem and yeah, saw the profile up in the thread and it looks great! :)

And feel free to do as many characters as you think you can handle. I know I'll be doing at least one more... after that, I'll be playing it by ear to see how I fare. I don't want to overextend myself and be like ACK! But I'll definitely be doing two for sure. Possibly more.

i sent you a PM with a second character i'd like to do 3 characters for sure with a possible 4th MAX i don't have many other RP's going on for me so i am sure that i can focus on that many at least on here. i'll send you the 3rd later when i get a little more free time to write it up.

This puts my lil project to shame, yet I am ashamed to say I never really delve into this series. Will definitely take an interest and possibly develop a character. Warning I tend to really get out there for my insanity like ritualistic serial killer to a rapist who captures women and has a brutal variation of a snuff/porn game show. <.<

I suggest watching the movies ASAP!!!! They won't take up much of your time and they are fantastic watches on top of that. But if you don't...... some great references to get the gist: Escape From New York and Escape From L.A. (these will literally tell you the full plot synopses for both films).

This RP setting is totally up your alley, San. lol.

hmm a different type of idea, I might make up a character or two, have a couple of ideas for ocs for this.
