It had been one hell of a week at work and Allen was feeling completely wiped out. All he really wanted to do was just kick back with a drink and get a little reading in. But most of his books and comics felt particularly tired. With no idea what else to do with himself, he ended up grabbing up his beer and reclining in front of his computer, idly flipping from website to website. In a very six-degrees kind of situation, he'd gone from a YouTube video to a random Tumblr, and a few clicks later found himself at some random person's blog. However, despite the rather inconspicuous nature of the writings, the moment he started taking in the words, he was completely engaged. Hours went by, and his beer sat off to the side barely half-drunk. He was sixteen again, wandering around the library and discovering some of his favorite authors all over. But this time, it was no literary celebrity but a little-known woman. How she had managed to go this long unpublished completely baffled him.

He read through a wide selection of stories before finally feeling the need to reach out. It seemed silly, surely she got tons of replies and comments all the time. Yet it seemed that almost no one had heard of her and very few people had said much beyond "Good read!" or "Really enjoyed it!" None of them seemed to understand the beauty on the screen before them. Well, he intended to rectify this fact immediately. She opened up the reply box only to stare at the blinking cursor silently for minutes, occasionally running fingers through his long dark hair. What to say? This seemed to go on forever, but finally a spark seemed to flash in his bright blue eyes and he grinned wide. His fingers flew across the keys for a few moments, and finally he looked at what he'd just written.

"Taking a look at my clock, I can see it's nearly midnight, and from what I remember, I found your blog somewhere around 8:00. The time absolutely flew by, and if it weren't for the fact that I should really sleep some time in the near future, I would have read for another four hours. Here I thought I had completely forgotten what it was like to fall in love with the written word. I will be sure to send this blog on to everyone I know!"

He hit the button to post his comment and immediately retired to bed with a smile on his face. He'd had a good night reading some amazing work, and had potentially brightened this woman's day as well. Or at least he hoped so. More satisfied than he had felt in ages, he fell asleep almost immediately.
