The quick, eager footsteps sounded through the woods, frightening the small creatures out of their homes. The pounding of paws landed against the soft soil, belonging to hell hounds of all shapes and sizes, but all just as frightening as the next. Their large black bodies hid them in the dark while the bright red eyes gave their enemies a small sign of where they were. Not that it would give them a chance to get away. Behind them ran their masters, who were eager to catch the frightened angels. The demons recently ended one of the many battles that made up the dark war now plaguing the typically peaceful Earth. All of it was going on below the radar of most of the world, keeping hidden to areas far away from the large cities and out to the fields where they could spare the space. It was perfect for the higher beings. They could take out each other without worrying about humans taking sides. That was the very last thing they wanted or needed.

Lucas was in charge of this particular unit. Although he had only been in the military for a few years, he had climbed the ranks, stomping down all who opposed him, until he reached the spot he was in now. He was the commander of several units, including the hell hound he was now travelling with. The higher ranked men trusted him and went so far as to ask him for his advice, which Lucas was happy to give to them. But it wasn't all silver spoons and high praises. His entire life was a struggle from the time he refused to be like every other demon and join the military. He had a good reason not to. The last thing he wanted to do was go against his closest friend; a female angel. They had both made a pact to run together, allowing her to fall from heaven while he ran the risk of being hunted down like the harsh dog he was now leading. Sadly, or perhaps luckily, that never happened. His friend had refused to fall and he quickly joined the ranks of his own kind, much like she had with hers. It was years since Lucas spent any time thinking of the female for more then a day. But lately, as his unit grew closer to the angels they were against, the thoughts were becoming more common. And it upset him.

The large dogs barked as they grew closer to their prey. And before the demons knew it, they were on top of the angels. The hounds launched themselves forward, knocking several of the enemy to the ground, threatening each of them with their harsh growls, bearing their teeth as they held them down. The demons continued forward, surrounding what was left of the unit they had been against. The group began to shout, drawing attention to themselves and forcing fear into the 'holy beings'. Lucas stayed back a bit, letting his mismatched eyes trace the enemy, studying them as closely as he could. Since he had joined the military, his demon side had awoken, ageing and changing both his looks and eyes. The one was now red, as a sign of his rank in the military, while his body had been scared. He was, to put it simply, completely different.

((Btw, this is a shot of Lucas's younger self. He would have looked like that the last time he was seen.))

As always a contrast to the hell born, the footfalls of the three remaining angels were swift as they fled, but light and nearly soundless, leaving barely a trace where they landed. Were their pursuers beings born in Earth, they wouldn't have been able to track them, nor even keep up with how fast they moved through the woods. But then, if that were the case, it was unlikely the angels would feel the need to run at all.
However, that was unfortunately not the case. Demons that outnumbered them could and were keeping up, and rather than fatigue or strain, that simple fact and fear that came with it was the reason for any rushed breath that could be heard from the pursued.

To say Isabel had thought the battle was a bad idea wouldn't really be very meaningful, since that was her opinion on practically all of them. Not, however, because of believing she and those she fought along side with would end up like this...No one had expected this result, and she wasn't an exception.

Looking towards the others, her dark brown eyes widened as she caught sight of one of the large hell hounds giving chase, just as it jumped right onto one of the two others, the youngest among them.
A growling noise made her turn to look at the opposite side, but quickly shooting a wave of energy towards it, before she even saw the red of the hound's eyes, made the first sound be followed by that of a crash against a tree along with yelp of pain, surprise, or perhaps both. Sadly, this earned her little more than an extra couple of seconds on her feet, another pouncing right after, making her grunt as she hit the ground.
Flying had proved to be a bad idea early on, as they were much clearer targets in the air, still, as she blinked away the dizziness that came with hitting the ground, Isabel was able to tell the only other angel left spread his to try such anyway. After that, she took more notice of the enemies surrounding them, shouting, as she took care to remain still beneath the demonic canine growling and baring it's sharp teeth at her.

The hounds continued to threaten the angels even as they were on the ground, under their command. It was what they were trained to do from the time they were pups and nothing, not even death, could keep them from that instinct. The demons around them allowed the dogs to hold them, acting as back up to the canine companions. They were doing a good enough job, there was no reason for a demon to step in and risk the possibility of one of the angels getting away. Two of the demons, along with their dog, brought the first fallen angel forward, forcing him to the ground to join his companions, the dog returning to hold him down.

"You shouldn't have ran," the commander spoke, a tone of joy in his voice at what was going on. He had waited quite a while for this to happen and nothing was going to keep the joy from him now. "Just wait until the higher ups get you."

"They won't," Lucas said, stepping into the picture. The dark red scarf hung around his neck, making it easy for him to hide his face if needed. His dark blue uniform matched that of the others around him, but with several added pieces of 'flash', showing his rank, any awards he earned and of course, what unit he belonged to. "We get first dibs at their things. And well..." A few of the demons chuckled as they eyed the angels. Lucas though, had noticed the female angel laying on the ground. He had seen her before the others and approached her, his boots crunching the leaves as he walked. With a short, sharp whistle, the hound backed away, teeth still bared and ready to attack, but giving Lucas a chance to do as he pleased.

He reached down and lifted the female up by her arm, pulling her to her feet and grabbing her chin to get a better look at her. His fingers tightened, in case she were to thrash or move, and he held her still, his mismatched eyes looking her over.

Since the beginning, he had been on the search for his friend, hoping to get a chance to speak to her again before the war is over. Every female angel he saw was a possibility, as he had not seen her for some time and just as he had changed, there was a good chance she had as well. This female looked familiar and he continued to show some sort of interest in her. "Search the others," he instructed and the demons began to pat down Isabel's fellow angels.
