The sun rose as always over the city of Menoas, brightening the horizon and giving the city a wake-up as the castle of the queen brimmed with activity. The castle itself was set into the western mountains, creating an almost impregnable fortress of power, where towers dotted around it to create a solid defense.
The first tower bell rang stridently, waking up most of the occupants inside the Menoas castle. This included the elf that laid upon the covers of his bed, breathing softly as his right hand hung comfortably off the bed. When the bell rang a second time, the elf's ears pricked up as he opened his eyes, staring at a curved lump that his face was currently pressed against. He coughed gently, rolling off to the side before landing on the balls of his feet, his dark brown hair ruffled from the activities of the night before. As he was currently naked, the elf stood up and walked to the vanity desk, retrieving his pale-blue underclothes and white doublet, which fell down neatly to the back of his feet, which were quickly covered by dark leather boots.
Looking in the mirror and brushing his hair to the side, Haeder Youngflame made himself look presentable as he got himself clothed. He was Master of the Council for the queen, and personal adviser, so he had to look his best. A dark green dress was crumpled on the floor in a messy heap, making Haeder sigh and lean over to retrieve it.
"Wake up," he called out to the lump that was hidden beneath the coverlets. The figure moved partially out of the bed, revealing to be a golden-haired woman, who was covering herself up in a demure-like fashion. He smirked, and tossed the dress to her.
"I hope you enjoyed yourself, m'lord," the young human woman said with a shy smile.
Haeder scoffed and shook his head with a smile before speaking, "I did, but now I need you to leave. I must meet with the queen . . ."
The elf buttoned up his doublet, taking one last look in the mirror before grabbing the small pouch on the desk. He unceremoniously tossed it to her, paying the "lady of the night" for last night, though they were much more affectionately known as "whores".
Haeder left his room to be accompanied by his personal household guardsmen, who were also of his race, the Menoas Elves. They were silver-plated armor engraved with the royal family's insignia, carrying two steel broadswords by their hips as they walked down the carpeted hall of the "keep". After a few more twists, turns, and stairways, Haeder and his guards came upon the queen's room. As was suspected, the queen's guards stood vigil by his door, though they relaxed once they saw Haeder.
"Wait here," he ordered his men, stepping up to the width of the door and knocking gently on it at least four times. "My queen? Are you awake?" he asked out calmly, waiting for a response.
