It was the middle of the morning in the middle of June, around Ten o'clock and Roxanne was packing whatever she could of her belongings into two gym bags. Her Father had just left for work about ten minutes ago, having told her he wanted her gone by the time he came back and Roxanne had every intention of being long gone by then. So here she was, throwing what clothes she had into one of the gym bags while packing all of her important belongings in the other. She had no choice but to leave, since she was about five or so, when her Mother left the two of them for another man. Back then it had just been mental abuse and had started out as him putting ideas in her head about her Mother, saying that her Mother was ashamed of her and didn't want her; but as she got older, he began adding physical abuse around the age of twelve and finally a few months ago he had began sexually abusing her. When it first began it had been him groping or lightly smacking her bottom each time she would walk by him and despite the fact that it made her feel uncomfortable, she tried to tell herself it was nothing; that if she showed no reaction to his advances he would eventually stop. A few nights ago, it had escalated once more and when her Father came home he had tried to rape her. Luckily, she was able to get away from him and lock herself in her room to keep herself safe from her Father. That was how things had ended up like this and she knew if she didn't leave today she would be either dead or in the Emergency Room of one of the local hospitals within days.
Roxy finished packing her clothes into the first gym bag in ten minutes or so and zipped it up before finishing packing things into the other gym bag. She then zipped it up and took both of them down stairs. Roxy then came back up stairs, grabbed her purse, her computer bag, along with her cell phone and car keys off of her desk before heading back down stairs. She then began taking things out and loading them into the trunk of her car, beginning with her computer bag and one of the gym bags before heading back inside for her purse and the remaining gym bag, the one with her clothes in it. She placed the gym bag in the trunk before closing it up and unlocking the car where she got into the drivers seat, closed the door and started the car before sitting her purse in the passenger seat. She then backed out of the driveway and began to make her way to the park, it usually helped relax her. Honestly, she was clueless as to where she was going to stay as she was effectively homeless now. Upon arriving at the park she parked her Indigo 2010 Camaro in a parking space and turned it off with a sigh. She then pulled out a notebook and flipped to the page that held a note she had written to her best friend not long before he died, but she had never gotten the courage to give it to him. In it she wrote about the abuse in detail, wanting at least one person to know what was going on at him. On days like this she missed him even more than usual.
After reading over the note she closed the notebook and put back into her purse before picking up her purse and taking the keys out of the ignition, dropping them into her purse. She got out and began to walk to the lake, where she always went to clear her head when had a lot on her mind. Something about the water always seemed to calm her. It also held many memories with her best friend for her as she remembered countless times the two had gone swimming in the lake. As she arrived at the lake she looked out at it, feeling sad as her mind wondered to her best friend.
