It was a beautiful day to be sure. A bright and merry yellow sun hung in the pale blue sky. Clouds, white and cottony, drifted aimlessly across the palate of blue. Birds were singing their early morning prelude and the fresh clean scent of late spring surrounded the small town. To most this was the perfect day. It was warm, sunny, and simply stunning. There were many things that could be done on a day like this.
Elaine had decided to visit her grandmother, who lived in the woods that surrounded the village. It had been a long while since she had seen her and Elaine figured that such a day was perfect for them. Although it was early morning, the beautiful young woman was already out and walking on the path through the wood. Around her arm was a large basket full of goodies. Nothing pleased the girl more than having a nice picnic with her nana along the side of the creek that trickled behind the old cabin.
The brilliant rays of the sun were catching Elaineâs hair at itâs finest. It was bright red with flecks of gold and orange and it made her look like she was radiating light. Her soft leather boots made barely any noise against the dirt path. A full skirt swished around her ankles and a smile was on her full lips. Nothing could be done to ruin such a wonderful day.
Little did she know that something had its eye on her as she made it through the woods. This time around she had decided to take the path that wound around the same creek that was behind her grandmaâs quaint home. Although she was only a few months from being a full adult, eighteen, she still behaved like a carefree child while no one was around. She spent the trip giggling and jumping in the water, enjoying the simple things that life had to offer.
Near midday she made it to her grandmotherâs and knocked on the door.
âGrandmother!â she called, inviting herself in before she answered. âGrandmother I brought you a basket of goodies! I thought we could spend the day talking. It has been awhile.â
