Two men stuck in a tin can with nothing to do sounds like it should have lead to entirely different questionable events. Thing is, the trip was only 2 and a half weeks anyway. Fly out to pick up one of Mar's trojans for mining, test out the new engines, televise the whole thing (when contact with Earth can be established via quantum teleportation).
The whole world got to watch as a wave of radiation hundreds of thousands of miles wide lashed out at them. No one was quite sure where it came from and it was certain that it would be the topic of many a scientific inquiry, but in its moments passing through the Sol System it changed the lives of two astronauts completely. Alex Raynor felt sick. Thankfully artificial gravity remained active since that meant when he staggered over to the toilet and threw up it didn't just float around the ship. After the sickness came the pain. It started at his core but it wasn't till it hit his extremities that he felt like it was going to kill him. His arms and legs burned, particularly where they met the walls and floor. He looked over to his arm and saw the metal crawling along his skin, his limbs taking on a mechanical look as his body grew. He shut his eyes and concentrated and the pain was gone. He knew it should still be hurting but it wasn't. He'd shut off the part of him that felt pain and he had no idea how he did that. The rest of his mind went next. He blacked out for a fraction of a moment as his brain rewrote itself in an instant, bringing his mind to a new zenith of thought. His eyes opened, gone from a soft blue color to a vibrant red.
Alex knew in an instant he wasn't human anymore, not really. He was something better and there was no doubt about that. He was just under 6 and a half feet tall now. While he'd been in pretty good shape before he was built like an olympic athlete, not that he really thought that would have mattered, some part of him told him that regardless of what he looked like he'd have blown past any record that a human had ever set. His limbs didn't quite get the same muscular treatment since they were now some sort of techno-organic metal compound. It was weird, they felt just like his old ones did, apart from the fact that he was pretty sure he could punch a hole in the ship now, not that he wanted to do that. He wasn't sure whether or not he still needed air.
He plodded over to the radio, running his fingers back through his now rather shaggy blond hair. His hair color hadn't changed a bit, and for that he was glad. Before he even touched the quantum relay it flickered to life, as if his mere thought had goaded the machine into action. "What the hell happened to you Alex? Are you alright?" there were dozens of voices fighting for a chance to ask him various medical questions, none of which he was interested in. He was fine, better than fine, better than any human had ever been. One of them, however, did make a good point. "You do know you're completely naked, right?" He realized then that he'd ripped out of his suit when he put on some muscle weight and expanded his frame. One glance down also revealed another nice feature. His cock was hanging down between his legs long and fat as it could be. It must have been nearly 10 inches and it wasn't even hard yet. His balls were plump and juicy looking too. No, he didn't need pants right now, the world could go ahead and get a nice good look at the new him. "So I am." He said unsurprisingly, turning to look for his partner. There was a brief pang of worry as he considered that his friend might now have had the same lucky results that he had. Sure, they didn't always see eye to eye, but he didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
