One day, while Samantha had been in class, all Hell broke loose. Something crashed into the classroom, sending everyone scattering. In the streets there was chaos as Monsters from nightmares seemed to come to life, crawling out of firey holes in the earth. Everyone ran for the place they thought would be safe, some to their houses, some to bomb shelters and many other places. Sam had joined up with a group that wound up deep in the sewers beneath the streets. It seemed to be a pretty good place to hide. It was strong smelling enough to hide their scent from the monsters, and even if a monster did manage to find them, it was very rarely.

It had been two and a half months since the incident and the number of people in Sam’s group had started to drop, not only from attacks, but from starvation. While people had grabbed what they could on their way down, the food was now completely depleted. Samantha seemed to be holding up the best against the hunger so the group nominated her as the one to go up and find food. Only one other had tried to do this before, and he hadn’t come back. Before he even made it out of the sewers completely they heard something get him. It let him scream for hours in hopes that someone would try to save him, but no one ever came. The sewers had dried up from lack of use so the smell was fading and attacks were getting more frequent.

Samantha had been a completely normal girl before the incident. She was in her first year of college, making good grades and had one of the most unique hobbies. She was part of a team that learned how shoot guns and throw knives with intense accuracy. She was the second best on her team, and all the boys fawned over her, not only because she was talented, but because she was gorgeous. She had perfect fair skin, with light freckles on her face. Breasts just over average for her 5’3” frame, a thin waist, and quite a nice rear. But that had all been when she was healthy, now she looked under weight, her skin lacking its natural glow, strawberry blonde hair almost black with dust and dirt from lack of care. Her once nice clothes were now dingy and torn in random places.

Finally it was time for Sam to go. Everyone wished her luck, giving her the things they had been saving, like a long coat and a scarf, the very last bits of food in hopes it would help her bring back more, a few knives, and lastly a gas mask. Simply because no one knew what it was like up there. The entire Earth was said to be on fire because of the holes the creatures were crawling out of. And their guesses were right. Sam got closer and closer to the surface, being as quiet as she could as she finally emerged. She put the mask on just before she got outside, covering up her dirty face. She paused, looking around, moving slowly and cautiously. She didn’t see anything or anyone, though it was hard to tell because what was left of the city was just a smoldering pile of rubble with the exception of a few buildings that were mostly together. She inched her way over to one of those buildings, making it safely inside, pausing at every little noise she heard. Once she was inside, she looked around, noticing it was a grocery and she grinned. Maybe all the monsters had left and they were safe. She started gathering up as much food as she could, mostly canned goods that would take a while to go bad. The only problem was she now had no hands and she was letting her guard down.

((Sorry it's a bit long... I kinda got carried away.))

Humans were pathetic. They weren't even worthy of being called pets. They were animals. Insignificant specs on the Earth. Unworthy of taking command of it. For far too long, humans had had control of something that wasn't theirs. Now, it was going to be returned to the rightful owners. Beings with superior agility, strength, powers. Everything heightened far more than any human could possibly possess.

Cattle. They should be rounded like cattle.

And they had been. For two months, the parasites had been gathered to be feasted upon. The true owners of the Earth had finally risen, after thousands of years of solitude and hiding. They had agreed. Even beings of opposite, despising species had agreed on one thing. Earth was no longer humans' to inherit. The superior races were going to take it back.

It was easy. Nightmares came from their hiding place deep within the Earth. Vampires worked at night. Werewolves during the day. Demons corrupted the humans' souls, turning them against each other. The stupid humans panicked and it was easy to pick them off one by one. Not that they wanted to get rid of them completely. After all, vampires needed the humans to survive. Werewolves tended to live on the animals. Demons liked to pick at the human's minds, but it wasn't their necessity. Vampires, however, needed the humans. Unfortunately.

After a few months, the humans had learned to hide better. It wasn't difficult to find them, at first, but once they had used all the stupid ones, the smarter were more well-hidden. Packs of species generally stuck together. In this particular city, it had been taken over by the vampiric race. Werewolves preferred the forests, where the animals dwelt. Demons had left, bored, and too lazy to hunt for the humans that were hiding. But the vampires enjoyed the chase, and the thrill that came with it.

A particular vampire had nestled herself comfortably in a storage room of what seemed to be a grocery store. She had no use for the human's food, but the small windowless room had provided a place of rest while the sun was out. This day, it was cloudy, and had been raining on and off throughout the afternoon. It wasn't until she heard the clanking of cans that she awakened. The vampire's eyes fluttered open. The irises were a deep crimson, almost glowing with the hunger inside them. She rose from the floor and her sleeping place. Her neck twisted, cracking the aching joints.

She stood tall, and proud, sure of herself. Five feet eleven inches, barefooted. Long auburn curls hung messily down to her mid-back. Sultry lips glistened as her tongue slid across them. She could smell the human in the store, and it had sparked the insatiable hunger once more.

Her hands, long fingered and well-manicured, pressed to the door. Slowly, silently, it opened the smallest crack. She leaned close to it, inhaling deeply. The scent of the human's flowing blood was enough to make her moan with want. She smirked, the corner of her lips lifting dangerously. It had been too long since she had hunted. The vampire grinned, waiting almost impatiently for the girl to come to the back of the store.

Samantha quickly, but quietly moved to the front of the store, grabbing a few of those cloth bags that were supposed to be reused and used those for carrying the food she gathered. They wouldn't rustle and make a lot of noise, she would just have to keep the cans inside from making too much noise. but that wouldn't be too much of a problem. As she looked around, she noticed the non food section of the store. It was full of lighters and candles, and other various items that she figured they could use. Oh wouldn't they be surprised when she came back with not only food, but other essential things to survive off of. She grinned a bit, but still moved cautiously. The more time she spent up there, the more she was at risk and she knew that. Even if she hadn't seen a single living thing since she had emerged.

She slowly moved closer to the back of the store, but stopped in her tracks. Something seemed off. She looked around, deciding she would only grab a few things and not go that far back. She could always come back for more later. at least someone from her group would have to. Sam looked around her self one more time, grabbing a few packs of gauze and tape before she started back out. It seemed she was a bit smarter than the monsters thought.

As she moved towards the exit, she pulled one of the knives out of her pocket, that bad feeling she had was only getting worse. So Sam grew more cautious as she moved. Once again she was freezing as soon as she heard any little sound, moving away from anything that sounded like it was dangerous. The fact that she had been up here for a solid thirty minutes and still hadn't seem anything was starting to bother her. Maybe they were just stalking her. She thought. That was a very big possibility. She stopped, adjusting the mask so she could see a bit better. She would have taken it off, but she wasn't sure if the air was even breathable. She figured she would just take her chances as she slowly continued to move out of the store. Every few steps she would look behind her, hoping there was nothing there.

To her frustration, the human did not approach the back of the store. It would have been easier to capture the girl, then, but it didn't matter anyway. The vampire was stronger, faster, smarter, more agile. Better at everything than a mere human could be. Did the girl wish to give chase? Oh, yes, please, the vampire thought. Let me stalk your precious blood and feast while you think you are safe. No human could escape her hands, that were twitching at the very prospect of fresh, young blood to be drank heartily. The vampire pushed the door another inch further open, pressing her face to the crack and watching as the girl removed a knife from her pocket. The smirk on her lips widened. Oh, was she a fighter? How adorable. It would give this chase more fun that she could imagine. The vampire did so enjoy a good battle with a human who thought they could win. It was much more bittersweet to see their face fall, and have them succumb, when they realized what they were up against. Too bad the girl's face was hidden beneath the unnecessary gas mask. The vampire enjoyed watching their facial features.

The front door opened and the girl toed the exit line. The vampire crouched down, opening the door only enough for her body to slip through it. She wore a long black Victorian styled dress, elegantly crafted with a corset hugging her torso. There was red silk trimming on the hem and laces upon her breast. If that wasn't a given away that she wasn't human, the glow of her crimson eyes would be. Silently she crept through the store. Whenever the girl looked behind she was gone in an instant, hidden behind a shelf or disappearing in the shadows. Thousands of years of hunting had given the vampire expert skills to stalk and kill her prey. The predator was gaining on her prize by the second.

Only an arm's length away now, the vampire's grin bared the ivory canines. The girl had taken a step out of the store, and that is when she struck. With a sudden lurch forward, the vampire's arms wrapped around the girl's torso. One went around her waist, while the other crooked her elbow around the girl's neck, attempting to pull her backward. "My, what do we have here," the vampire purred into the girl's ear, "A delicious meal for me this evening? How very kind of you, girl, to offer yourself to me."

The closer Sam got to the exit, the more that horrible feeling grew in the pit of her stomach. This was not good. It seemed to take her forever to get out of the store, though it was probably faster than she went in. She could now tell something was stalking her, and the fact that she hadn't caught a glimpse of it yet was terrifying.

She almost didn't want to leave the building as she neared the exit. it wasn't right. She hesitated a moment before finally taking a step outside, immediately regretting her decision. She only let out a squeak as she felt the appendages go around her waist and neck, the bags she carried immediately dropping to the floor with a loud bang as the knife flew back trying to slice at the arm going around her neck, her other hand going to another knife that was soon going behind her head in an attempt to hit her attacker in their head. She struggled as much as she could, actually managing to get free after putting all her strength into it. She managed to take a few steps away, turn and throw one of the knives right at what appeared to be the woman's head, right between her eyes. The second knife flew seconds later, aimed at this creature's heart.

She didn't even pay attention to what she was saying, trying not to let it get to her head. She already had to try extra hard to focus because she was so hungry. The last thing she needed was a crazy monster trying to egg her on. Finally she snapped, yelling at the woman in front of her. "Stop bothering me! I just want to eat!" She did not look happy, though she didn't sound nearly as threatening with the gas mask on. In fact it would be a wonder if this woman could even understand what Sam was saying. Sam then pulled out her last knife, getting into a defensive stance, trying to be ready for whatever this woman had in store for her. Sam then noticed this woman's eyes. They were glowing red. And then there was the way she was dressed. Was she supposed to be some sort of vampire? Did all of them dress like that? No. Now wasn't the time to be thinking of those things, she needed to stay focused.

The girl managed to slash into the vampire's arm. It broke the skin, and the vampire frowned, but no blood came from the wound. It hurt, yes, nowhere near as it would for a human to be cut the same way. The skin rippled apart, tingling. Tensing, the vampire let the girl's waist go so she could catch the knife flinging to the side of her head, plenty of time to catch it before it even touched her hair. Boy, did this meal sure put up a fight! The vampire had expected the girl to be equipped with some sort of weapon, but not multiple hand-held knives. With a feral, guttural growl, she released the girl and allowed her a few steps ahead.

With lightning quick movements the vampire's hands lifted. She grabbed the knife centered for her eyes, and held it tightly in her palm. Her other hand did not grab the knife headed for her chest. She merely swatted it away as if it was an insect bothering her. The girl's angry words twitched a smile on her face. It spread into a grin. Her lips parted, revealing the straight ivory teeth, save the canines extending down. A maniacal laugh came from her throat, echoing loudly in the empty street. "I could say the same thing, pet," she giggled darkly. The girl's words had hardly been audible, but with her heightened hearing, she understood.

Fingering the knife, the vampire brought it up to her lips, and ran the blade across her tongue. It seemed she pressed down but the muscle did not cut, as if it was hard as steel. Twirling between her fingers as if it was a baton, the vampire tilted her head to the side, the smile never leaving her face. "Run, little girl." And let the chase begin.

The way this woman growled kind of scared scared Sam, making her flinch a bit. Most wouldn't have noticed, but with the heightened sight on this vampire, there was no way she could miss it. The only thing that scared Sam more was the way she just swatted her knife away like it was nothing, and then grinned as Sam yelled. She gulped as at the vampires next words. She didn't want to be a meal for this woman, She just wanted to get this food back to her group so they wouldn't die and then eat some of it herself. Her mind started to drift, Food. That was what she wanted. And food would be good, even something as simple as bread. Maybe even a sandwich. No, Don't think about that. Sam thought to herself as she licked her lips dryly.

Sam watched as the woman effortlessly twirled the knife around, then brought it to her lips. Her eyes widening a bit as she attempted to cut her tongue with it, but the muscle didn't split at all. She didn't stop smiling, which scared Sam even more. Sam was getting nervous, even when the woman told her to run, Sam didn't budge. She was frozen, mainly because she was wondering if it would even help if she did indeed run.

And then she was off. Samantha was pretty quick for a human. maybe she should have tried her luck with track. She probably would have done well, especially if she was properly fed. She was sprinting as fast as she could, dodging and ducking under things in an attempt to get away. She knew, deep down, that she was doomed no matter what she did, but at least she was trying. Her fist clenched the last knife she had tightly, almost so much that it cut into her skin. She looked back, trying to see if that woman was still behind her, praying in her head that she would just leave her alone. And then it hit her. What if that was the plan? To let her run back to the rest of them. Let Sam lead her back to the rest of the group so they would all be eaten as well. Sam shook that thought from her head, trying to focus on running, though her hunger was quickly catching up with her and she was feeling very weak now, pretty light headed as she willed herself to keep running for her life.

At first, the girl didn't run. Was she going to succumb already? Well, that wouldn't be any fun. The vampire was a predator, and she enjoyed hunting for her prey. The chase was no fun if it would be ended already. The vampire pouted at the girl, taking a step forward. Oh, well, she'd enjoy the girl anyway. Before her foot hit the ground the girl had turned to flee. The vampire smirked, watching with hungry eyes as the girl ran off. It wasn't difficult to know where she went. The streets were empty of other people. The vampire closed her eyes and listened. Adrenaline was coursing through the girl's veins. Her heart was racing, fluttering with every step she took to flee as far as possible. Once the sound began to fade, giving the girl plenty distance for now, the vampire gave chase.

It was much too easy to follow the sound of her heart in the streets. Even if the human was remarkably fast, the vampire was faster. She moved with inhumane speed in the shadows. Now and then she would kick an aluminum can, or punch a vehicle, to distract the girl. Otherwise, her movements were silent as she stalked her prey. Besides, she'd let the girl run as far as possible. It would weaken her, and make it much easier to catch the girl in the end.

"You can't hide from me, little girl," the vampire called out, her voice echoing. She rounded a corner, disappearing, only to reappear on the other side of the building. She held her back to the wall, face turned to the edge of the building. The girl was nearing on the other side, her footsteps slowing from exhaustion. Inhaling, the sweet smell of the girl's sweat and blood was intoxicating. Deliciously mouthwatering. The vampire inched to the edge of the building, and waited for the girl to round the corner. When she did, she launched herself bodily at the girl, in an attempt to knock her onto the ground.

Samantha was still trying to run as fast as she could muster, but she was just so tired. She decided she would try and hide, maybe this vampire was dumb and wouldn't be able to find her. or if Sam was lucky, everything rumored about vampires was a lie and they didn't have extremely enhanced senses. Little did Sam know, it was the complete opposite and this vampire was more enhanced than she thought.

Every time Sam heard something like a can being kicked or a car shifting, she would look back, trying to figure out which way to go. She got to a building, pausing and looking around, trying to figure out where this woman was and which way she should go. She walked backwards around the building, making sure she wasn't following her. but in doing so, Sam failed to see that the vampire had sneaked around that very building and was waiting for her to walk around the corner. Sam turned, not seeing the woman and started running again, only to reach the edge of the building and be knocked over fully by that woman's weight.

Sam hit the ground with an audible thud, grunting as the air was knocked out of her, causing her to be stunned for a moment. But as soon as she could, Sam started struggling again, flailing about and kicking, managing to cut the woman again with the last knife she still held. Considering the vampire was on top of her, Sam tried as hard as she could to land any sort of blow she could, hoping the vampire would just give up. She was sure that would be the only way she would be able to get away. Hopefully it wouldn't just anger the vampire more. In truth, this was the last thing Sam, expected to be doing when she woke up this morning, wrestling with a vampire and hoping she was going to survive. Well at least she was expecting to struggle to survive today, she just didn't know it would be a struggle with a vampire.

If the vampire had a beating heart, it would be racing, just as the girl's was. This was too fun! She was lucky there were no other vampires in the area. They were typically prideful bastards, and weren't known for their sharing. The vampire wasn't starving, but she would like a good meal, and she didn't particularly want to fight another vampire for it. Fighting a human was easier. But other vampire matched her skills, and some of them were stronger than she was. The older the vampire, the stronger they were. And in the vampire world, she was still quite young. Just a little over a hundred years old. She had since lost count of the actual number, but didn't particularly care to remember it either.

Their bodies collided successfully. The vampire grinned, her ivory canines sparkling from the dim light above. The sun was still safely hidden, but she knew she had to move fast. There was no television now. No weather man. Who knew how long the clouds would keep her safe? The sun would not kill her, if she managed to get out of it quickly enough. Grunting as the blade slid across the flesh of her chest, the vampire snarled her teeth. One hand pressed to the girl's chest, pinning her down, while other ripped the blade from her hand and tossed it several meters away. "Stop fighting, little girl," the vampire growled, easily keeping the body pinned. Still, the girl trashed and wriggled beneath her. The vampire straddled her waist, and grabbed her wrists to pin them on the ground above the girl's head.

Crimson glowed in her eyes. She licked her lips, inhaling the scent of the girl. Perspiration. Blood. Fear. It was all so very delicious. The vampire nearly cooed at the prospect. Slowly leaning down, her tongue flicked out from between her lips. It slid up the girl's cheek, swallowing the taste of her flesh. "If you stop struggling, it won't hurt as bad," the vampire promised, nipping the girl's cheek in warning.

Samantha really didn't know anything about vampires. Nothing about how they age, how they fed, not a single thing. She thought that vampires killed everyone they fed from, so she was sure that she was about to die a very painful death. Old legends said that the sun hurt vampires, but here this vampire was, only shielded by some clouds and she seemed perfectly fine.

The moment Sam hit the ground, she knew she was done for. The gas mask had come loose while she was running and came completely off. With the way this woman had her pinned, and with how strong she was, it would be a miracle if Sam could squirm out of this one. Maybe if she were lucky, and could stall long enough, the sun would at least distract this woman and Sam could run again. Granted how far she could run was very questionable considering how tired she already was. The little food she had eaten wasn't doing her much good. The way the vampire was grinning wasn't making her any more at ease. The slice that she landed across the vampire's chest made her a bit more hopeful, but that didn't last very long as it didn't seem to faze the vampire in the least, in fact, it only seemed to make things worse considering her knife was soon gone. Even sooner after that her arms were pinned above her head. Her eyes went wide as she now looked this crimson eyed monster in the eyes.

She flinched as the vampire smelled her, turning her head to the side a bit and shut her eyes. She shook her head as the woman licked up her cheek, struggling further. She really didn't want this to happen. "No! I wont stop until you let me go!" she screamed at her, this time it was much louder than with the mask on. Sam would have spit of her face had she had any saliva to spare, but currently her mouth was dry. She hadn't even caught her breath yet, her chest still rapidly rising and falling. She didn't know what to do. She still tried to thrash about a bit more, still not giving up. She glared at the woman, not really able to do anything else. "Just let me go." She said, almost calmly as she continued to try and catch her breath.

The girl was rather attractive, if she had to admit such a thing. She wouldn't of course. No human was beautiful. Pretty, yes, and perhaps attractive - but not beautiful. She was beautiful. With the glow of her milky skin, unmarked by any scars or freckles. Pristine and perfect. Humans didn't know perfection when they saw it. This girl was too stupid to see the unearthly beauty before her, hovering above her own marked and flawed body. Their flaws made them pretty, the vampire thought. It made them...human. It made them delicious to devour. But that would change. The vampire would show this girl how to respect the better race, and worship them as they should have been centuries ago.

The vampire chuckled quietly, shaking her head. "Now why would I do that?" she taunted, momentarily squeezing the girl's wrists painfully. A warning, to stop writhing, or she'd break at least one of them. "I grow bored of the chase after awhile. I have you right where I want you." Her tongue flicked out again, lathering the soft flesh with her saliva as she licked from the base of the girl's neck, to just below her ear. The skin was delicious, and she could feel the racing pulse of her blood against her tongue as she eagerly nibbled at the skin.

"Haven't you learned yet, girl?" she growled against her ear, taking the lobe between her teeth and gently pulling on it, "That we are the superior race? You'd do well to remember that if you wish to struggle against me further. You will lose." The vampire released her ear, lowering sharpened canines to the pulsing vein in her throat. "Make it easier on yourself. Give in. Embrace it. If you give in to me, I'll make it hurt as little as possible."

By human standards, Sam was gorgeous. Some liked to joke she was a ginger with her redish hair and freckles, but she loved those things about herself. And most other people liked that about her too. Well, and the fact that her body was gorgeous. She was actually very nice too, she was open to talking to everyone and anyone, about pretty much anything. That was kind of a problem when homeless people stopped her, but she didn't have to worry about that now. Sam hadn't noticed the vampire's beauty. She had been too busy trying to fight or run from her. Though now that Sam was this close to her, she had to admit she had beautiful skin.

Sam glared at the woman above her. She still struggled a bit, though it was much less than what she was doing before. Mainly just trying to wiggle her torso and arms, though she was so tired now, it wasn't much of a struggle. When the vampire squeezed her wrists, she stopped from a moment, her pretty face grimacing for a moment. but that was the only pause, she still wiggled around after that, still not as much as before. but as soon as she felt teeth on her skin, she froze.

She flinched she then felt teeth on her ear. Sam chuckled to herself. "If you're so superior, then why couldn't you find us? You had to wait until I came out of hiding." She smirked a bit. Sam sighed, a few tears rolling down the side of her face, though she didn't make a noise. This was it. She was sure this was how she was going to die any minute now. And so she just gave up. "Fine." She said. It was barely a whisper, but she knew the vampire would hear it. "Just make my death quick." She said, turning her head to the side and closed her eyes tightly.
