“I wonder….is this right?”

Aziel said softly to himself as he paced the hall of his friend. He wasn’t too sure if he should confess his love after 5 years of being friends. What if she rejected him? What if she laughed? Or worse—said nothing at all?
“Shit kid…get your head in the game. This is no time to be second guessing myself. I have to seal the deal before those bastards catch wind of what I’m up to.”

Aziel being the youngest of two brothers was always the subject of their pranks. He didn’t trust them at all. You could even go as far as to say he hated them to a certain extent. If they knew he was trying to mack on their closest friend they would purposely do the same thing so he wouldn’t get any play. Well he wasn’t trying to just get into her pants…he was trying to develop a romantic relationship. Maybe one that would perhaps lead to marriage. He was a fairytale kind of guy. A daydreamer of sorts. Taking in a deep breath he stopped pacing. Standing before her door he prepared to knock. There was no point in delaying his plan any longer. He should just knock already. A half an hour was definitely enough time to make up his mind.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Right after he knocked his cell began to ring. No doubt it was his annoying brothers clocking his whereabouts as always. Normally he would give in and tell them his location. But at the moment he was busy, there was no need to get them riled up. Reaching into his pocket he quickly retrieved his cell. He would have to play it cool or they would suspect something. Looking at the caller ID, no doubt he was right.
“Yo.”

“Hey where you at? Ash and I are gunna go out drinking you in?”

“No, you know I don’t do alcohol.”

“Why so frank brother? Usually you’d beat around the bush before you
say no. What’re you up to?”

“Nothing you idiot. Maybe I’m just tired of being a push over.”

“Awe poor baby.”

Ash teased.

“Shut the hell up!”

Aziel retorted quickly.

“Well in any case we’ll call you later. Be good kid. We’re gunna be too fucked up to bail you outta any trouble.”

Hanging the phone up hastily he took in another deep breath. Dressed in a black tank, black jeans with rips in them, and a panda hat on his head Aziel hoped he looked aright. A few seconds later he snatched the hat off his head thinking of how stupid he looked. He didn’t look no stupider than his retarded brothers who decided to get drunk before the evening even started. For god’s sake who gets drunk at four in the afternoon? Obviously his brothers but…geez… They were such a hassle. But, back to the situation at hand he had to figure out just how he would confess his love when the other finally answered the door. Perhaps if he knocked again he would get a quicker response.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

When Alyssa opened the door partially that meant only one thing… She had just gotten out of the shower. Great. On top of all that he was feeling he had to deal with her running around in a towel. Not that he didn’t mind. Honestly he would have like her to shed the towel and hop into his arms bridal style. But that was just a little dream. A dream he would probably never come to realize, but didn’t hurt to dream.

“Sorry I didn’t call Lyssa. I was preoccupied with something.” He said slipping passed the woman after she had invited him in. He made sure to keep honey brown eyes on the floor because he knew he wasn’t going to be able to make eye contact with her in his current state without giving away something was the matter with him. However, regardless of him doing that she still caught wind of his uneasy mood. With a smile his eyes chased after her as he prepared to speak. “I’m fine really. Just irritated at those two nutballs.” He lied. Of course she wouldn’t believe that though. She could read him just as well as his older siblings could. However it couldn’t her to lie. Could it? When she disappeared he’d thought about her excitement. She had been looking forward to their date. Well…she didn’t know it was a date. But soon she would when they were eating dinner or probably when they made it back to either his place or hers.

As he waited for her to get dressed he sort of fantasized about what she would be wearing. It wasn’t an official date so she wouldn’t be getting all dressed up. But she honestly looked good in whatever she put on. He imagined her wearing his favorite faded blue jeans that accented her lovely hips and legs… One of her loose t-shits that fell over her torso so delicately, just slightly revealing her curves to him. How beautiful she would be. When the woman returned to the room questioning him about his thoughts he laughed casually. “Really it’s nothing Lyssa.” He said as he made his way over to the front door.

“Come on, I’ve got a whole day planned for us.” He said as he casually slipped his hands into his pockets. He planned to take her to dinner, a movie, and a nice walk in the park where he would most likely confess his love to her. That is if their time together wasn’t cut short because his brothers wanted to go home during their date.

As he drove to the café the other had gotten a call. No doubt it was one of his brother’s trying to pester her into drinking with them. Listening to their conversation he was right. Ash was calling this time instead of Zeal. Those two couldn’t get him to drink at 4:00 in the afternoon so they tried to get Lyssa to. Fat chance on that. He had Lyssa for the day and he wasn’t giving her up until their time was up. “They just won’t quit will they.” He murmured to himself.

He was happy that she didn’t bother asking him why he hadn’t told them he was hanging out with her. He normally would tell her anything so if she was to ask he would have to confess in the car and he wasn’t ready yet. He didn’t like lying to her. Lying to his brothers however, was a different story. When they pulled up on the café he smiled at her reaction. “Yeah I remembered how much you talked about their food.” He responded as he parked.

Slipping into the store with the woman he smiled to himself. Things would be so much sweeter if she knew that they were on a date. He thought however, that she would be more open to dating him when she experienced a taste of what he could do for her boyfriend wise. He probably wasn’t even her type. But he thought perhaps he could win her over with the special night he had planned for them. Always a dreamer he was. When they were given their seats on the balcony he couldn’t help but analyze her. She seemed pleased. Things were going well so far, even in spite of her getting that call from Ash.

“Yeah it is pretty nice in here.” He commented as he too sipped on his water. “So what other surprises do you have in store huh?” he smiled at her question before taking another sip of his water. “Well if I told you they wouldn’t be surprises Lyssa.” He replied rather smoother than he thought he could. Looking around the place he idly shrugged taking in the environment. The stories she told him were all true. The atmosphere was calm, tranquil even with the music they played in the background. It was an atmosphere he could unwind in for an hour or two.

Thank goodness the waitress came when she did. Aziel was trying his hardest to resist her charms. Sure he was used to her puppy-dog eyes and adorable little pouts. But that didn't stop them from melting his heart. He needed strength to override the guilt he had and the waitress provided him with such. He was all too shy to spill the bean in front of the stranger. "To know what?" he joked with Alyssa before he turned to the waitress to tell her his order. Aziel was going to have a simple steak and gravy with mashed potatoes and a side of string beans. When the woman moved away from the table he turned his attention back to Alyssa.

"My brother's and I are fine. Luckily enough for me I have my own place now so I don't have to be bothered too much with them. I'm happy for you. I'm glad you're back on your feet." or so he hoped when he began renting his new apartment. Even without living in the same house he still had to deal with the two. They bothered him more than normal now that he had his own place. Which was so troublesome. But he loved his brothers all too much and would put himself through hell to make them happy.

When she questioned if anything was the matter with him again he shook his head silently. Nothing was wrong with him he supposed. He was just a little anxious and worried. Worried that she would stop being his friend after he confessed and anxious to finally give his heart to her. She continued on talking about how surprised his brother was and he just shrugged nonchalantly to the fact. "I didn't want them to tag along. I wanted this to be our special time out. I wanted to celebrate your success my way." he said with a smile. "I'm glad we can do this also. I knew you would need some time to relax and whatnot."

After they finished talking the food arrived. Before he went to dig in he smiled at her. "So do you enjoy your work?"
