Many Members have posted pictures in their entries, and continue to do so successfully. But when I click on the "Insert Picture" icon when formulating a post, the dialogue box prompts me for a URL. I've looked this up in several places and I conclude: I don't have one. The pictures (or other graphics) are all on my various hard-drives. What can I do?

The best way to do this is to store your pictures on something like photobucket or imageshack or something like that. Then you can post the url for that.

Good luck with that. I used Photobucket for mine. But I know that they'll take things down that are on the too explicit side. Soo.... anyone?

Well, all of the sites I know say in their ToS no naughty things. But, I don't think they'll be checking every single image uploaded. So, my list includes:

Photobucket (already mentioned)
Tinypic
Imageshack
Flickr
Imgur

Good luck!

I have some photos in photobucket that are against the terms. As long as they aren't in a public folder I don't think it matters. I have a few private folders, and one that is password locked. The Password locked folder contains all of my 'picture plots' to help me come up with both pairings and settings. They have yet to be deleted from their database and nobody can access them unless they have the guest password.

I cannot make this work. I've registered with Photobucket and their posted pictures just will not migrate to this site. WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE for whatever Management critter who controls the physical site of this community (web-page designer) to add, AS A CHOICE rather than as the only option, the opportunity to insert pictures in the same way that avatar pictures are, i.e directly from the Member's hard-drive?

I'm a bit confused........... I use images from photobucket for things on here all the time.
@_@

What exactly are you having problems with??? The link not working, the image tag?????

As for things changing with that being an option.... not sure how easy that will be to include. First off, it'll probably have to be 'written' in. Second off, it'll probably won't be happening until the upgrade.

Actually, It MAY be working. I sent a signature tag to another Member (via P-M) and from her comments I believe she actually did see the tag. However, I cannot see it, but only its URL, with the well-known red "X". I will continue, as opportunities arise, to post certain graphic entries and, since you've taken an interest in this case, let you know how it comes out. Thank you for your attention.

Well, we always want to know what issues people are having so we can address them. Whether it's a fluke, something that's fixable on the techie end or the user's end or something else entirely...... it's always good to know and be aware as it's the only way to keep things running smoothly not to mention make it better over time.

And you're welcome.

I am having an issue with posting an image but it is not the posting that is the problem, as I know how to type the code out to get it to show. But my issue is resizing it and then making it float left or right to the text, a feature that is useable on Elliquiy.

For example this image:

6b69ce9ebcc5d0cd.jpg

is way too huge for what I need it to be.

So I went into paint and then found better resize values that keep the ratio much as I always do.

On Elliquiy, it will still show but it will be resized. And now let us say that you want it to be to the left or the right of text, it then becomes:

6b69ce9ebcc5d0cd.jpg

Should the text run into it like it sometimes does then you may have to add padding so that it will not come within a certain frame of pixels of the picture, most of the time I use 15, so ultimately it would become this:

6b69ce9ebcc5d0cd.jpg

This is what it should look like in this form:

So I was wondering if there was something off in my code or if this is a feature that I am sure several other members of this site could use if it was implemented.

Far as I know, BMR doesn't have the capability for floating images at this time, nor for resizing. So for the resizing bit, that you'd have to do yourself prior to posting. The floating.... that just cannot be done. At least, not right now anyway.
