In the alley he waited, lurking in the shadows, yellow streetlight falling at an angle, threatening to expose him. Behind him a skeletal fire escape trailed up the side of the apartment building he pressed against, like a metal vine, and there was a faint sound of dripping somewhere. Not the most crummy part of the city, but still pretty dank, Johnny still fit right into the scenery. Thin, angular features and dark brow ridge, he would be handsome if not for the dark circles that rounded his eyes and the gaunt look of a man haunted by chemical demons. Lean and muscular under his dark jacket, chain hanging by his left hip and dirty jeans, hair greasy and in need of a shave, and dark green eyes darting around alertly, Johnny was the perfect picture of a human life put on hold. Existing in the here and now, looking for that next rush, while the rest of him, his body, waited and fell behind.
He knew she lived here and would be on her way home from work and his eyes scanned the empty street, head dipping past the corner, light illuminating dark strands of hair and glinting off an eyebrow piercing as he quickly peered around before vanishing into the black against the brick again. Fingers twitched at his side and he itched all over as the ache started to set into his bones, making the sinews and tendons scream. Eagerly he awaited his prey and the chance to get the passage for what his body craved right now.
