Samantha attended a rather high class private school, exclusive to only the richest of families that lived in the area. There were no scholarships, there were no 'free entries'...no...this school offered the best and expected payment in return. Samantha belonged to just such a family, her father a succesful businessman, her mother a skilled surgeon. The school wasn't a boarding school however, the students were free to come and go at the end of the day, returning to their lives of luxury in the city nearby.
Today however, Samantha had stayed late at school, her personal driver waiting outside in the car, waiting patiently for whenever Samantha was ready. Right now she was in the library, alone, doing some studying for one of her classes. One thing this school didn't allow the students to do, no matter how rich, was to get an easy time and a grade without the effort. Students were expected to study, not only that, but to excel in their studies. As such it required rather extensive work. Fortuantely, the school library had an extensive collection of books, some that could be found nowhere else.
The hours passed quietly, Samantha eventually finishing her studying and standing up, carrying several heavy books, perhaps more than she should really be carrying. On her way back to the shelves, the inevitable happened. Samantha stumbled, losing her balance and toppling into a stand, on the top of which was a rather old vase that the school had acquired. As expected the vase toppled to the ground, smashing into many tiny pieces, the sound echoing loudly through the empty library. "Shit...." Samantha muttered, then quickly gathered up her books, putting them into place on the shelves and turning to leave quickly. If she just left, nobody would ever know this was her.
Samantha returned home quickly once she left the school, doing her best to act as if nothing had happened. She made small talk with her parents as usual, ate dinner with them, stayed up a little longer, then finally retired to bed. Changing into her usual elegant night gown, Samantha yawned, crawling under the sheets. She was already forgetting about the stupid vase....wouldn't be the first time the school had lost some stupid object that had been left out in the open. They'd grumble and complain, then buy some other equally tacky piece of art to replace it.
With a yawn, Samantha placed her head on the pillows, and was almost instantly soundly asleep.
