Hogwarts Secondary, like its sister school Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, is a castle and has some fairly interesting (and dangerous surroundings). It also has some nearby villages with local shops and entertainment as well.

<These will be filled in by your GMs accordingly. -DA>

THE CASTLE

The castle has a Great Hall, located on the main (or 1st) floor, where everyone congregates for meal times and castle-wide meetings/gatherings. These meetings/gatherings can be parties, ceremonies, any number of things. The Sorting Ceremony is held in the Great Hall at the start of each academic year and everyone is expected to attend, though only those being sorted along with 2nd - 5th years are required to attend. Faculty and staff typically are required to attend as well unless some unforeseen circumstance arises in which they are excused.

The castle has an Astronomy Tower, which is located on the far northwestern corner. It is used for both Astronomy and the branch of Divination (ie, Astrology) that utilizes stars as a means for predictions and other such things.

The Dungeons are located in the deepest part of the castle, underground. To get there, you need to take the staircase located in the far southeastern corner of the castle.

The Library is located just above the Great Hall in the central part of the castle. It takes up the second and third floors of the castle. However, about one third of the third floor of the library is labeled 'Restricted'.

The Kitchens are located on an enchanted floor just below the Great Hall, the ground floor. It is in this area that the House Elves make the meals for everyone attending, working at, visiting, and/or staying at Hogwarts Secondary. All House Elves volunteer to work at Hogwarts Secondary. None are forced to work there against their will. The reason the floor is enchanted is because since the House Elves are working with food and other such things, it can become rather aromatic. The enchantments help keep such things from filling the air too much.

The Hospital Wing is located on the western side of the castle and takes up floors four and five.

The Greenhouses are located on the south side of the castle and on the ground floor.

The Were Awareness Foundation (WAF) rooms are located just off the Dungeons in the southeastern corner of the castle. There are two levels, a basement and sub-basement level.

Every 'House' has its set of Dormitories. They each will have a separate girls and boys dormitories linked together by a common room. To enter each common room, you must know the password for your 'House'. Gryffindor's is located near the Hospital Wing, Ravenclaw's is located near the Astronomy Tower, Hufflepuff's is located near the Kitchens and Slytherin's is located near the Dungeons.

Nearly every floor of the castle has classrooms and every floor has two sets of Girls Bathrooms and two sets of Boys Bathrooms. One set located on the north side of the castle and the other located on the south side of the castle. All floors also have Corridors, the one on the ground floor allowing people to either enter or exit the castle, all floors are connected by Staircases located in the central part of the castle itself. Exceptions being those leading to the Astronomy Tower and the Dungeons.

The castle has TWO Rooms Of Requirement, rooms that present themselves to students exhibiting great need. One is located on the second floor while the other is located on the fifth floor.

Some Things To Keep In Mind
01) 5th - 7th Years may apparate as wanted on school grounds, all other years have to walk.
02) A major must be declared by year 5 at the latest (preferably earlier).
03) All 1st Years & Transfers must be Sorted prior to starting their classes, etc. (if they start 'late', they will speak to the Headmistress and get Sorted then)
04) 1st - 5th Years (and Transfers) are required to attend the Sorting Ceremony.
05) 6th & 7th Years have to have interns.
06) The rough order of a typical 'class' day ~

Class Day 'Order'
Breakfast

Muggle Defenses ~ Braeden
Flying ~ Donovan
DADA ~ Magnus
Charms ~ Alexander

Lunch

Transfiguration (though this class won't actually have a thread or be played out) ~ McAllistair
Care Of Magical Creatures ~ pending, though most likely taught by Lupin
Potions ~ Magnus
Magical Law ~ Braeden
Muggle Studies ~ Alexander

Dinner

**Since Transfiguration is taught by McAllistair and she's an NPC, we won't actually play out her class. However, we'll assume it to take place immediate after lunch, just to give us an idea of time references and whatever for when things roughly happen. As for the other classes........ those we'll just sort of interperse as needed and they can occur in between these classes or after. Just we won't be playing them out unless Lupin substitute teaches for one of them at some point.

SURROUNDING GEOGRAPHY & CASTLE GROUNDS

Just east of Hogwarts Secondary, and considered part of school grounds, is a Cliffside Path.

The Cliffside Path leads to The Cove, an area where students can relax and enjoy themselves however they'd like.

North of The Cove, is The Hidden Cove. This 'semi secret' cove is a considered 'hidden' because it is tucked away inside a small cave, thus keeping it partially hidden from the public eye. It can also be difficult to get to at times since the tide can indeed fill the area with water. The best times to enter this Hidden Cove are late nights and early mornings.

West of Hogwarts Secondary is The Haunted Forest. A dangerous place indeed, especially at night. Students are warned every year not to venture in there without the guidance of a professor and, during day time hours, to stick close to its perimeter if gathering special ingredients for potions and to ALWAYS travel in groups. ALWAYS. There is a magical barrier surrounding the perimeter of the forest, protecting the school from the forest's inhabitants. One of the more known inhabitants are the Lost Souls, which are a type of ghost. These ghosts devour the souls of the living until they are fully extinguished. Once the living soul is no more, they occupy the body for as long as possible (much like a zombie, only without the flesh-eating bit) before they are no longer able, in which case the body is left to decay per normal and the Lost Soul is cast out to search for yet another living soul to devour. Only now that they've devoured a living soul, they are hungrier for more.

NEARBY TOWNS & ENTERTAINMENT

To the east and slightly south of, and approximately two miles away from, Hogwarts Secondary is the town of Hogsdale.

In Hogsdale, along the North Sea, is Hogsdale Marina. Here is where students, visitors and tourists alike may travel to and from Hogsdale as they wish.

On the east side of Hogsdale and to the south are Hogsdale Train Station, Hogsdale Apparation Station and Hogsdale Floo Systems Station (which has 30 Floos in its network). These are just other means for students, visitors and tourists to travel to and from Hogsdale.

In the center of town of Hogsdale is the Hogsdale Carriage Service Station. This is a special service that acts as a taxi traveling to and from Hogsdale and Hogwarts Secondary.

Hogsdale Wizarding Bank is located in the center of town of Hogsdale and is the bank used for residents of both Hogsdale and Hogsmill Island as well as for students attending Hogwarts Secondary.

On the south side of Hogsdale is Hogsdale Inn, the largest inn of the town and located not too far away from Hogsdale Train Station.

Hogsdale Bed & Breakfast is located just on the outskirts of Hogsdale, in the north.

In downtown Hogsdale, there are three prime bars/clubs. They are Conundrum (which is more of a dance club), Enigma (which is more of a goth and metal bar/club) and Something Old (which is more of a lounge/blues/jazz bar/club).

The Witch's Brew is a coffee & tea shop located up on the northwest side of town in Hogsdale.

Located in the southern outskirts and just outside of the town of Hogsdale is the Were Awareness Foundation (WAF) Facility. Due to the fact that it houses weres, those who fund and run it thought it best to be located in a more remote location away from both the town and Hogwarts Secondary.

A bit further east of Hogsdale and out into the North Sea is the tiny island of Hogsmill Island. The island is small enough that everything is within an easy enough walking distance.

Like Hogsdale, Hogsmill Island has Hogsmill Island Apparation Station and Hogsmill Island Floo Systems Station (10 Floos in the network) on shore on the west side of the island.

On the west side of Hogsmill Island is also Hogsmill Island Dock & Pier. This is where boats may dock for passengers to travel to and from the island.

Hogsmill Island Bed & Breakfast is located in the northwestern corner of Hogsmill Island.

Hogsmill Island Bistro is a restaurant with a diverse variety of cuisines and ambiances located in the central part of Hogsmill Island.
