The white fox walked around the forest calmly. It's large blue-grey eyes blinked and flickered left and right. You see, she had to be careful for she was no ordinary fox. She had a name, a mother, father, and most importantly, a human side. The fox was a shapeshifter. If she were found, a hunter could see her as a valuable prize for her extraordinary white fur and kill her.

She came to a pond and looked at her reflection, her voluminous tail flicking behind her. Suddenly, her hypersensitive ears picked up on rushed footsteps. The fox turned around, only to be caught in a net. She scratched and tore against the net, whimpering in fear. The troop of men that had captured her walked out of the forest and mounted horses. She was quickly taken to the village. The dirt streets smelled so strongly of humans and their homes, the fox wrinkled her nose and sneezed. Finally they reached the highest hill in the village where the princes palace was. They marched her straight into a room, put a leash and collar on her and presented her to a man.
"Here, an exotic pet for you Sir," a plump man said, bowing as he held her new leash.

Lox hadn't been in a particular mood to entertain guests when the hammering knocks came on his library door to interrupt his studies, something that he thought he'd made direly clear the last time it occurred. Yes he was a prince, and yes he was expected to delve in princely undertakings but he was peculiar in more ways than just his habit of studying considering he had just earlier turned down an offer to go hunting. Sighing heavily, Lox dreaded the idea of having to sit through yet another dreary tail of the thrill that was hunting as well as pretending to examine the stinking head of a dead animal. Looking down with a glare that made the servant in front of him quiver, the man stuttered a plea to attend one of the dukes in the large reception room. Sighing heavily once more he grumpily followed the nervous servant down and felt the strange urge to strangle the plump man who was waiting for him down stairs. That was until his odd crimson eyes caught sight of the leash and the beautiful little fox at his feet. "A good day to you Prince Lox, I had heard you were preoccupied this morning to come with us on our hunt but I've come to present you with a gift of our spoils." Even if the man smiled easily enough he knew damn well that this gift would win him more than a bit of favor, and as much as Lox hated admitting his own failings he couldn't take his eyes off the pet being offered to him.

Ever since Lox was just a child he had loved exotic pets, and over the years he had raised every messenger hawk owned by the king as well as a number of owls, lizards, and all other manner of critters available to him. Strangely enough he was extremely gentle when it came to animals that made it easy for him to tame them, regardless of the fact that he towered over most common folk and well muscled from hours spent learning the sword and playing with his pets. (One of which included a medium sized bear that he occasionally agitated and wrestled for amusement.) After taking the leash he exchanged a few choice words of gratitude and thanks before the duke departed to prepare a feast, but the moment he left and Lox noticed no one was looking he scooped the little fox up into his arms and went dashing back to his private study with his prize, kackling the whole way there with joy.

The man who was before her and was certainly angry. She shivered as he took her leash. The fox had never been handled in such a manner as an animal nor even a human. He quickly scooped her up into his large, muscular arms and being quite afraid of what he would do to her she cowered close to his chest. A small whimper or two came from her tiny muzzle. How long could she stay in this form? How could she escape? All she wanted to do was scream, "I'm no pet!" but of course, foxes don't speak.

The Prince, as she learned he was just moments ago, wound his way around the castle. She tried her hardest to memorize the path, so see which ways lead to the outside world. Even as the Prince held her, she could only think of methods to escape, the fox even thought of violence. But, she didn't want to harm anyone. In vain she wondered what would happen if she was stuck there. What kind of food would they feed her? What sort of stupid name would he give her? Though she was fox, and acted as such, she had human tendencies she couldn't cover up easily. She whimpered once more, unable to speak, protest, or even scream. Her ears were plastered to her head and her fluffy tail hung loosely in defeat.

When Lox came up to his private study he found one of the maids cleaning it and promptly ordered them to leave as well as a second order not to be disturbed for anything besides a dire emergency or supper before slamming his door shut and sighing with contentment. The study was huge and filled with shelves upon shelves of books and scrolls, with a fireplace and a blaze going against the north wall there were also windows on both the east and west side to allow plenty of sunlight into the chamber for reading. In one of the darker corners though a huge owl was perched upon a stand looked intently at him and the small fox in his arms as it hooted gently. "A thousand apologies Sir Walace for waking you from your slumber, but I am simply overly excited today." Carrying his newest pet over to the large desk he put her down gently and looked the beautiful fox over as he ran his left hand softly along her fur. He sighed with relief when he found no injuries but the poor thing seemed to terrified that it looked like it would bolt any moment. Looking about quickly he found the small feast that had been placed on his side table for his lunch and rummaged about until he found some roast boar still warm from the kitchens. Carefully carving up the boar so it wouldn't choke her he took the food to the little fox and placed it in front of her with a smile.

"You probably can't understand a thing I'm saying but I won't hurt you little fox, and I have no intention of letting you starve either. I'm glad your not hurt but there's no reason to be frightened." Gently caressing her ears for a moment Lox undid the collar and tossed bot it and the leash still attached into his waste basket before leaning down and gently kissing the top of her head. "You know the boar really is good here, try to eat a bit and relax. No one else will be bothering you while your here with me." Eating a bit of the meat just to show her it was safe Lox moved around his desk and dug about for one of his animal books to see if there were any references to white foxes in them. He had never seen one before nor had he ever heard of a legend pertaining to them.

The fox poured her eyes over the large study in awe. She had grown up in a small village quite outside this town. Her home was of the poorest quality. Needless to say, the fox's heart almost stopped at the luxuriousness scene before her. The large arms that carried her gave way to place her upon a desk. She felt as if she should wipe her tiny paws before even being placed upon such an expensive looking piece. His large hand began to pet her and thought at first she was tense and frightened, the utter gentleness of his touch relaxed her. The fox's plastered ears now perked a bit as he sighed and spoke to her in soft tones. Curious, she watched with a titled head as he rummaged about the ornate room and finally presented her with a meal. Her eyes became large and her tiny mouth watered. The gracious actions of the Prince blinded her completely. Unlike the nature of a usual fox, she looked to the food, then to the Prince, as if to ask permission. Before she could eat he touched her once more, focusing on her ears, which twitched at his touch. Great relief was brought to her when he took of her restricting leash. The Prince planted a kiss upon her furry head and if foxes could blush, she would be. Then, she turned her tail to him and ate the meal quickly. Before she was captured, she had been lazily hunting and with all the excitement of the day, she was quite famished.

The pleased fox turned around, licking her lips. The man was now reading a book. Being a curious little thing, she titled her head and stared at the man. Within moments she decided she liked him and was now in no hurry to be free. What harm was there in getting treated well as you pretend to be someone's pet? The book he was examining caught her eye and with a small leap, she landed in the Princes lap. Sitting her furry tail down, she looked intently at the pages. Once he came to a page with a fox that looked similar to her mother's fox form, she pawed the page and whimpered. The fox missed her family. Feeling an ache in her tiny heart she sat back from the back and leaned against the Prince with a sound similar to a sigh.

As Lox glanced up to see the fox devouring her meal he smiled as he quickly thumbed through the book of lore in front of him, trying to remember what the exact page was that contained a legend about foxes... What surprised him the most about his new little friend was suddenly finding her in his lap looking just as intently into the book as he was. He knew a little about how intelligent his pets kind were but it seemed a little overly so with the way she pawed and whined the moment he flipped to the page that was beautifully illustrated with a fox similar to her. It saddened him how much his new pet looked longingly at the picture, and after quickly reading through the passage he closed the book softly and gently stroked his hand along her neck and down to her tail. "You miss your kind don't you little one.... I'm sorry you were so hastily captured earlier today but I don't know if you can be returned to your home. The hunters here will be crawling over that area if they know a rare type of fox is living there, and I doubt you'll make it very far with a few score hounds chasing you." Gently lifting the small fox into his arms once more he hugged her gently and softly murmured to her as he brushed his cheek against the top of her head. "I won't make you stay little fox, but if you like we can keep each other company for a while... Friends are in short supply as a prince, seeing as most people would rather me have a knife in the back to take the throne.

He stroked her again, causing her tail to flick up as his hand reached down. She couldn't help her animal instincts and nuzzled into him. He talked to her in that soft, apologetic voice that simply melted her minute heart. The fox wasn't shocked at all this time as he picked her up and hugged her close. She felt a certain warmth towards the Prince that she'd never felt before. As he held her she became suddenly aware of a frightening fact. She could not sustain her fox form for much longer. It greatly drained her energy and the only way to gain that back was to be in her human form. The small white fox became worried once again. What would he do once he found out she was a human? Would he kick her out and be very angry? She came to the conclusion that she must try and conceal her other form from him as long as possible. The small animal sighed once again in his arms.

Suddenly a maid entered the room and announced there was an emergency, holding her apron up from her toes with clutched fists. Immediately, the Prince set her down and left the room, closing the door behind him. Quickly glancing around the room she saw her opportunity, if only for a little while she could transform. She closed her large eyes and suddenly her form melted and grew into that of a human girl. She opened her eyes now shaded by long dark lashes. Her wavy hair hung at her mid-back in a soft blonde color. Coldness met her thread-bare skin. She hopped off of the desk in a hurry and looked around. The girl cursed in her head, there was no fabric to cover her naked body. She fell to the floor, not used to using her human legs, gripping at the nearby window sill. Without warning the study door opened again and the Prince walked in. The small girls heart stopped.

Of all the miserable excuses he could possible imagine his servant's pure ignorance as to what an emergency would entail was now thoroughly drilled into their thick skulls. It was a miracle he hadn't strangled one of them to death up until this point but with a tired and agitated sigh he skulked his way back into his study to stop dead in his tracks. When he had left there were books, an irritated owl, and a beautiful snow white fox that had been given to him earlier that morning but when he returned the books were there.... the owl was hooting even more irritatedly.... and there was a stunningly beautiful woman naked on the floor in front of him. While Lox prided himself on his education he could not think of any good reason why a lady as stunning as this would be in the nude within his study but as he thought about it he remembered a passage of writing just read moments before in his book of lore. ("While notoriously cunning and difficult to capture the fae fox are not truly of the animal world given their innate ability to transform into a fully functioning human form. It is not understood why exactly they shift it has been reported that they do so for a number of reasons often times to simply torment humans, or lure them to their dooms. There are currently no reports of these beings settling down with any given human as in marriage but a few cases exist of the fae fox mating with humans....")

It was ridicuilous to think such a fantasy creature could exist, or if any of the text was valid in all facts given but as he looked around he confirmed neither hide nor hair of the little fox he had left here. Looking into the woman's face he realized with a jolt her eyes were the same liquid blue the fox had, and as his mouth opened to same something the only thing he could truly do was close it again in stunned silence. Realizing she must have been freezing on the cold floor without a stich of clothing on Lox abruptly turned his head to the side as he took off the long over cloak he often wore about the drafty castle. Closing his eyes for a second he held the cloak out in front of him before covering her up completly and gently wrapping it around her before helping the lady to her feet. "........... You have quite a bit of explaining to do little fox......" Was the only thing he could come up with as he guided her to a comfortable chair beside the fireplace. Turning away once more he went to a large dresser beside his owl and managed to collect a few more cloaks to spread over her, knowing full well any cloths he gave her would simply fall off her smaller body. Once he was satisfied she would be adequately warm Lox held her face softly in his hands as he gazed into her eyes and spoke gently. "I'm not sure if you understood me earlier but my word does not change for whatever reason you became a woman instead of a fox. I will not harm you in this house, but I must demand your honesty if you wish to stay under my protection. For now though we can start with names unless you prefer being called little fox. I am Lox."

(If you want me to do something special pleas pm me! It throws me off really hard when my character is taken over and makes it harder to reply >__<)

(I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that Q.Q)

He simply stared at her, his mouth opening and closing. His simply stare gave her cheeks a violent pink blush. She attempted to cover herself up with her arms but found no security in doing so. As suddenly as he entered the room, he took off his cloak and placed it on her. Lox helped her to her wobbly feet and placed her in a chair. Holding the cloak over her exposed body she curled her knees into her chest. Her eyes were forever in a wide state of shock. Looking down, her lashes brushed her cheeks and she pondered how in the word she would explain herself. The Prince came to her once again with even more cloaks, exhibiting to her his uncomfortable feeling about her naked body. The girl wanted to give thanks but her throat was filled with fear instead of words. As gently as when she was a fox, he took her face in his hands and demanded her name. She stared back and stuttered out in a soft voice, "K-Kara. I am Kara." The girl looked down at her knees unable to keep such a gaze with a man like him. Kara thought of some response she could give him, some beginning to her explanation. All that came out was a sob, "I'm sorry." Tears filled her vision and she ripped her head out of his grasp, covering her embarrassed face in the blanket of cloaks about her. Kara had no idea what she could do in such an uncommon situation as this. She knew of the lore about her kind and it wasn't at all friendly. The small girl was no seductress, just a "monster", labeled my men who acted more the part than she.

Lox took a long steadying breath as he leaned down and very gently kissed the top of her head before he lifted her gaze up to him once more with his left hand. "There isn't anything to be sorry about Kara, I don't think you expected to be captured this morning or end up in the house of a noble. I may not understand exactly how you turn back and forth but regardless I doubt you could have brought cloths along during the change even if you wanted too." He actually snorted slightly and stifled a laugh, trying his best not to hurt the girls feelings or embarrass her further as he explained himself. "I'm not laughing at you my dear... Just the thought of coming across a fox wandering around the forest in a lovely sun dress." Drying her cheeks with his thumbs he let her go and opened his chamber doors just enough to poke his head out and summon a servant. It was easy enough having lots of food brought to them in his chamber but the only possible way he could get her out was if she changed back into a fox, and he knew she wouldn't have returned to her human form unless she had to. While he could simply say she was his lover come to visit it would not explain why she didn't have any cloths to leave with, and after telling the servant to knock and wait for him to answer he closed the doors quietly behind him and returned to her side. "Somehow I'll snag some cloths for you to wear out of here but it might not be until tomorrow given the fact that any other time would raise quite a bit of suspicion..."

It was at about that time his doors burst open and a booming voice made even his large study echo. "LOX! ANOTHER MANGY PET STINKING UP MY CASTLE AND YOU SLIPPING OUT OF YOUR DUTIES AS A PRINCE, AGAIN?! WHEN WILL YOU START ACTING LIKE A GROWN DAMN MAN...." The only soul who had the gall to not only talk to him like that but burst into his study was none other than his father, the king himself. And his face was richly red with rage as he stomped into the study until he stopped dead and noticed Kara covered up with nothing but a few cloaks. Just as Lox had been earlier the king was speechless, and just stood blinking and staring until he cleared his throat and began mumbling as he tried to find the right words. "I'm sorry son for barging in like this....... I didn't realize you had a lady friend with you.... You know your duties, but this time I'll let it go since you were.... preoccupied. Make sure you keep yourself accountable for you spawns if you have any outside of proper marriage but... I'll talk to you later about...... priorities." With that the king promptly turned and walked out, closing the doors quickly behind himself and leaving the two of them alone in silence.

His lips now gently touched the top of her human head. Silently, Kara reveled the feeling of his lips. They were so soft. With a kindly pressing hand he drew her gaze back to his handsome face. Once more his deep, gentle voice spoke in smooth tones, explaining his understanding. The small girl was utterly surprised, as he said all the right things, as if he could read her mind. Soft skin pressing upon her cheek wiped away her tears. She closed her eyes at this, to close off all other senses but feeling. Abruptly he went to the door and began a hushed conversation with a servant. Curious, she wondered if the Prince treated all women like this. His kindness seemed so easy, she figured she wasn't the only one. Her tiny heart sank a bit at the notion. Deep down, she wanted to be special to Lox, for he was special to her now. Kara watched his tall figure come back to her side, to tell her she would get clothes by tomorrow. Silently, she nodded, realizing she might be stuck in the drafty study for longer than she expected.

Suddenly a voice boomed, making the fox jump in fright. She clutched her pounding heart as a older man came in. Immediately she recognized him as the king. Flicking her grey-blue eyes about she wondered if she should bow before him. Instead, he was the embarrassed one as his eyes laid on her. Realizing her nakedness, he began to stutter and mumble, quickly leaving and giving very odd phrases. Her eyes were as wide as saucers and her cheeks a feverish pink. Kara gathered up the cloaks tighter around her, being sure she was as covered up as possible. The Prince was silent as well and Kara finally spoke up. "Maybe, I could just sneak out of the window and get some clothes outside of town. I could transform for a bit once I've regained my energy..." she trailed softly. "Or," she boldly continued, "I could wear a shirt of yours." Her sentence finished she turned her face away from his, embarrassed that she was so arrogant as to suggest wearing the Princes clothing.

Lox couldn't help but smile at how adorable she looked when she made herself flustered. The little fox really was quite a breathtaking beauty, and for a moment he did entertain the idea of having her as a playmate... right before his own face flushed red and prompting him to turn away quickly. "That would be the best course for the time being. But that still doesn't solve the problem of getting you cloths that would be appropriate. I personally don't mind in the least letting you wear my cloths but when others see you then that little rumor will explode and run amok throughout the castle as well as the nobility. They never have any thing better to do than spreading damn gossip." With a sigh Lox proceeded to remove his own shirt and draped it over her shoulders before turning away towards the door once more. "It will have to do for the time being, and I doubt my "Proud" father will keep his mouth shut for too long so I will fetch someone who can help us." Keeping his back to her so he wouldn't scandalize the poor girl more than she already was, Lox poked his head outside the door to summon a servant and had them scurrying away with a few curt and ill tempered orders. It wasn't long at all before three people came waltzing into his study, two servants pushing a cart and a very flamboyant looking man in pink. "LOX YOU SCANDALOUS WHORE! AFTER I PROMISED MYSELF TO YOU HERE I CATCH YOU FORCING A WOMAN INTO PERVERSE ACTS!" The servants were fighting a losing battle to keep from laughing as the dandy pranced about in mock despair until he caught sight of Kara. "My goodness! I can't entirely blame you for your outrageous carnal desires when you have such a lady friend present! Not to worry dear, I'm not here to ogle you but I've been summoned to make some suitable cloths for you. That doesn't mean I'm not mad at you for taking my Loxy away!.

Gerald, or Jerry the merry as most people called him was the royal seamstress for nearly every noble woman living within the court. He was normally more.... subdued but the bastard had a way of using the exact tools to make someone horribly uncomfortable or even ashamed. It didn't help that he was also a man lover and a gossip whore that would definitely spread rumors to every noble ear that would listen. The only reason he summoned him was that Lox knew he's gossip was far more preferable to another's, and while he had no doubt the bastard would make him out to be a devilish womanizer it was still better than people believing he was sneaking random women into his study. One tryst is enough to make his head hurt, let alone having people think he's been doing this all along. Besides, he didn't mind the idea of having a thing with such a beautiful woman even if he was in for a massive migraine. The servants pushed the cart laden with food off to the side as Jerry guided Kara to her feet and promptly began threatening the servants. "One miserable word from you cretins and I'll have you skinned alive for a fantastic people cloak. This is none of your damn business and if I catch you staring at places your eyes shouldn't wander to I'll kick your teeth in! Now my dear, stand up straight for Jerry so he can make lovely cloths for the princes Lover!" Lox smacked his head as he began to take measurements, regretting every second he had to listen to the man speak.

"Such a beastly prince! He must have torn your delicate cloths off in his passion to have you wearing his dreadfully bland cloths, and off his own sweaty back no less! Fear not my lady, the beast will come to his dues soon enough! But not until I've made some fabulous cloths that will make you shine!" Lox's cloths weren't sweaty at all considering he constantly kept himself clean and insisted on bathing every single day of his life. If anything his cloths probably just smelled a little like him and the lemon/pine soap he had always favored. Gods he wished the bastard would hurry up and leave.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she witnessed the Prince smiling at her. Suddenly though, he turned his face away. Fearfully, she thought she in fact had offended him with her suggestion. His deep voice prompted her to turn her face to his back. Intently she listened to him and gave a small giggle as he swore at the nobility. The small fox simply wasn't much of a talker and preferred to listen and think. Her eyes froze upon his body as he took off his shirt. A blush swam about her cheeks as he came close to her and draped the shirt over her. Immediately her sense of smell was overwhelmed with his scent. Making sure his back was turned, she grasped the shirt in her small hands and deeply inhaled. The Princes scent was so wonderous, so...delicous to her, she couldn't get enough of it. Kara then quickly buttoned up the shirt and let the cloaks fall, it being long enough to stop above her knees. She had just latched the last button when a man burst into the room and started shouting at Lox. The suddenness of his presence caused her to jump and clutch her beating heart. 'Whore? Perverse acts?' she thought to herself, 'What is he talking about?' He began to talk directly to her and she giggled repeating aloud "Loxy."

As Jerry brought her to her feet, she wobbled a bit, still not being used to human legs. As he commanded she straightened up, but not because he told her to, but because he called her the princes lover. Her large eyes grew even bigger at such a statement. She tried to protest but only stammers of vowels came from her parted lips, "I..! It's....No....," as she waved her hands about, flustered. The Prince seemed offended as well as he hit him across the head. Listening to his eccentric speech she couldn't help but smile. The fox had finally realized he was purposely trying to make The Prince angry. "Thank you," she beamed at the promise of new clothes. Though as he measured her body, she felt a bit exposed, only wearing a shirt. Her eyes kept flicking to Lox for reasons she barely understood herself.

When the flamboyant bastard was finally through taking her measurements and making the both of them uncomfortable Lox let out a sigh of relief as he studied the beautiful woman before him. There was something provocative about the fact that the only thing covering her up was his own shirt, and looking into those big beautiful eyes he couldn't help but smile affectionately at her. With an impish smile and his hands behind his back Lox approached her as he murmured softly. "You know Kara... I don't mind such rumors flying about when it concerns a woman as adorable as you. While your still here there's no reason not to have a little bit of fun with the fools, but I promise not to do a thing if it should offend you." Leaning down he softly planted a kiss against her head before he dipped his head to whisper into her ear softly. "Remember my promise to you little fox when i first took you into my home. If you wish you could stay here with me as long as you want, and I won't lie and say I don't dearly want the company of an adorable little fox here with me. I doubt you can turn back into a fox from what I read, but take your time and try to enjoy your stay here. I've only known you for a few hours and your already far more interesting and honest than any noble woman I've come across in my life time." Being so very close to her he could smell the soft scent of pine from her hair that tantalized his mind, making him want to stay close to see just what other scents were mixed in. He could also see that she bathed every day as he did, a quirk that he wished would be common practice among the rank men and disgusting noble woman who cover their filth with perfume. "Maybe I'll decide that I don't want to let you go and become an evil prince, capturing a fair maiden and keeping her close to his side forever..." With one more small kiss to her temple he stepped away and went to his desk to retrieve a spare shirt that hadn't been cleaned.

"Forgive me Kara, but I used this shirt to exercise this morning and it reeks of sweat. I'd prefer to clean it but I can't wander about the castle half naked if we are to ever escape this library. The only thing left now is to figure out how I can sneak you into my room without someone unsavory catching a glimpse of you and ruining an otherwise very happy day." He hated reusing cloths that he knew were disgusting, but he had to bare with it for the time and thought nothing of the other nobles. They always smelled so bad they wouldn't notice him but he didn't want to torment poor Kara more than he had to. He didn't envy the fox's sense of smell in the least, otherwise living here he might have ended his own life.

(I'm back from my field operation! I'll be on every night besides the weekends for the next few months :O)

(Great ^^. Sorry it's taken me a bit longer than usual to respond, life is getting a bit crazy.)

The Prince smiled and approached her as soon as he left the room. Her hands were held up before her chest, hands barely visible in the depths of the sleeves. His words made her eyes grow large and a blush appear upon her cheeks. "A-A bit of fun?" she questioned aloud, confused. His lips touched her head again, and she bit her lip. Kara for once in her life, couldn't sort her emotions. All too soon his lips fell from her skin and he bent down to murmur into her ear. The feeling of his voice and his breath at her ear made her want to cup them to stop such sensations that coursed through her body. What was this feeling? His words shattered her thoughts. Adorable? Interesting? Fair maiden? All these adjectives she had never been heard towards herself and barely knew their meaning, yet she understood them to be very complimenting. She wanted to say something, to tell him he needn't be so nice to her just because she was helpless. But, he kissed her temple and she lost her voice all together. Her mind in a boggled state, she watching him go to his desk and pick out a shirt, that to her looked just fine. The problem of escaping was brought up once again. Pondering for just a moment, an idea suddenly sprang from her mind. She quickly shuffled to the waste basket beside his desk and retrieved the collar and leash. Fastening it upon her neck and holding the leash to him she explained, "I can transform for a minute or so, that should give us enough time to get to your bedroom right? Just pretend you're taking me for a walk." Her soft voice echoed in the cold chamber and her large eyes pleaded to him.

Lox looked wary at the idea but he agreed and held onto the leash as he waited for her to transform. He had wanted to see if there was some sort of metamorphosis of some kind but he was mildly disappointed to see a simple flash of light before the little fox stood in front of him looking up with big blue eyes. Looking at the leash for a moment he smiled deviously down at the fox as he undid it and tossed it away once more but kept her collar on to prove she was his pet. Scooping her into his arms he couldn't help but nuzzle the top of her soft head and hug her closely against his chest as he smiled happily and departed from the library. "If I'm not mistaken changing forms is taxing to you and it wouldn't bode well if you changed back in the middle of our walk to my chambers. Not that I don't fully appreciate carrying such a soft, cuddly little companion with me." As Lox made his way through the large castle they were stopped more than a few times by noble woman who crooned and squealed in delight over such a beautiful creature. The excuse that she wasn't feeling well and was quite grumpy only made them eye him with a lot more than just appreciation, which made him uncomfortable as hell but he soon forgot about that when a particularly snooty looking woman swaggered up and huffed at the fox.

"A prince shouldn't be tooting around a mangy animal regardless of how good it would look as a scarf don't you think your highness?" It wasn't an insult directed towards him per say as the woman seemed to abhor animals given the fur she wore but for a moment the small crowd started to back away. While Lox's height was enough to intimidate more than a few that fact that nearly every muscle visible seemed to be straining made it look like he was about to snap. "A whore shouldn't open her ignorant mouth in a prince's presence unless ordered to do so, and since you've taken it upon yourself to not only to be rude but to insult me as well has tried my last patients." Lox's free left hand shot out and snatched the woman by her throat in a mere few heart beats, dragging her face to face with him so she could hear ever ground out word he spoke. "If I ever see you again I will kill you. And if by chance an accident should befall this scarf I'm carrying that would end it's life.... you will die in the same manner. Be sure to convey my ire towards your entire family, as they have my utmost hatred for harboring a disgusting whore." Shoving her away people were quick to make a path for him as he stomped up the many stairs to his chambers and locked the door behind him.

Gently setting the fox down Lox looked at her with sadness in his eyes. "I'm sorry you had to witness that but I will not tolerate a threat to you in my house. That woman will most likely be thrown out of the family in an attempt to save face with me and the kingdom and a vicious rumor will spread like wild fire. By my word I will kill any soul ignorant enough to harm you, so while you are a woman or a fox you will always be under my protection."

Kara understood, as he through the leash and picked her up why he did such a thing. 'He...wanted to be closer to me,' she thought, hazily. The frequent visits of people frightened her, she knew they only cut her precious time short in this form. If only she could speak, she wished to send them on their way. Suddenly a beautiful woman approached and confidently spoke to Lox. Her large blue eyes widened with her sentence. Sc-Scarf? Her small body shook in his arms and she pressed herself close to him in fear. But it was only increased as he took the woman by her throat and spat in her face. 'He was so gentle with me, but with another woman he is so violent and despicable. What ails him?' she thought in shock.

He finally reached his lavish room and his personality changed back to his normal countenance. He threatened to murder anyone who harmed her. The fur upon her body moved as she shook further. Either he was quite unstable, or he felt quite strongly for her. Her large blue eyes widened further though, as she realized she had no time to think this through. Her form was beginning to melt. Quickly she sprinted to the bed and flew under the covers, just as her human form came again. In a mix of fear and embarrassment, she kept her body under the covers, holding them over her head.

Lox looked sadly at the quivering form underneath his sheets and sighed deeply. He shouldn't have lost his temper in front of her but maybe if he explained why he had become so enraged that he threatened death might be enough for Kara not to be terrified of him. Sitting on the edge of the bed he rubbed his eyes tiredly, murmuring softly and steadily even though there was a heavy strain in his voice. "Kara.... I can understand why you would be afraid of me after that outburst, but there is a reason I am particularly sensitive about my pets, especially when someone threatens them. If you look outside the window in front of me you'll be able to see a large oak tree in the middle of the field, and beneath it even if you can't see it is a small grave stone." He was quiet for a moment as he thought back to that day he had lost it completely. "This kingdom is known for it's hunting dogs because I trained them, the carrier hawks because I hand fed them out of the egg, and some of the greatest mounts across the land I reared myself because I have an affinity to animals greater than most living on this continent. Since I was a child I have been raising animals but early in life I owned a pet I held more dear than any other before it." Even if she was across the bed she would be able to feel the small vibrations of his body quivering with anger. "It was an orange fox that just like you was captured when it was still just a baby, and because it was a runt the hunter gave him to me as a present to raise. For as small as it was, the little guy was smarter than any dog I've ever touched and could understand three times the number of commands I had ever even dared to train in another canine. He was my pride and joy but a noble just like the one I threatened today decided he had better uses for the fox. He was new to this kingdom and did not care who the creature belonged do and decided to make gloves for his wife out of my friends hide while he was still alive."

"He feigned ignorance and said he had found a runty fox that made for a good bit of sport when I arrived at the banquet my father was holding for the nobles. But at the time it wasn't known I had inherited a blood rage from my mother's side of the family. She had called the people afflicted with it berserkers... but I hadn't shown any signs of that wrath until that night. I was only twelve when it happened, but it took four of my father's personal guardsman to drag me away but not until I killed that noble, his son, his wife, and his three guards with my friends hide clutched in my fist." Lox sighed as his form seemed to sag with grief, bent over and looking out at the field where he had buried his little friend. "That is why my rage has no bounds when it comes to threats towards my pets, especially you since you are not a pet but a woman in your own regard. I doubt my father wants a repeat of that incident and will most likely hurl the whole lot of them out of the castle but I will not hesitate or back down from my word. If a soul does you harm then they will not escape me but also remember Kara.... I swore I would never harm you, and I won't ever break that promise.

At first, the feeling of his body sitting down upon the bed made her heart race. She was so disrespectful to him. Running away, hiding in his bed, and causing him so much trouble. Kara's face became saddened, she didn't want to be a bother to the Prince. He began to speak, the tone of his voice perking her ears. Before that day, she had never heard such a nostalgic, deep tone, one that rang with grief. As he spoke of the Oak tree she gently tilted her head up and tried to catch a glance of such window, but her view was blocked. Despite this, as he narrated his tale, the events flashed before her minds eye, the blue surrounding her pupil growing larger as she focused. Now, only sadness covered her features. She felt pity towards the Prince. To live with a temper which could not be controlled yet to be such a gentle person. Her brows creased as she felt the sinking her her heart. Kara was suddenly aware of a strong urge within her body. She wanted so much to please him, to make him happy, to not be a bother. But most of all, she wanted to hug him, to embrace him with her understanding and wipe away the pain of his past.

Despite her thread-bare appearance, despite the embarrassment and despite the knowledge that it was utterly sudden and disrespectful, Kara let the sheets fall from her body. Her features were painted with concern, her eyes brimming with understanding. Crawling over the expanse of the bed she never let her eyes waver from Lox. Gently, she sat in his lap and hugged him close, burying her face in his neck. Her arms hugged him close, wanting to make him understand the ache in her chest to make him happy. Finally she murmured, "I will stay with you Prince...." she paused, smelling him so strongly with her heightened senses, "I promise to be a good pet, if you'll accept me, I'd like to stay by your side."

Lox hadn't ever felt the same care in his heart as he now experienced with Kara sitting in his lap and hugging him, his mind slowly turning to mush at the feel of her warmth against his body and the soft touch of her breath against his neck. Almost instinctively his head dipped to rest his cheek on the top of her head as his arms curled softly around her smaller frame to hold her close. She was so very warm, and the grief he felt earlier faded away to be replaced by a loving affection he felt when he first laid eyes on her that grew with each passing moment. "You will never want for anything, so long as I still live little fox I will care for you until the end of my days." Dipping his head further he gently pressed a kiss against her cheek, his mind setting the memory of them together like this to forever be called upon when he needed to remember a moment of peace and utter joy. But sadly their moment together was short lived as a sharp knock came to at his door. Carefully laying her down and making sure she was well covered by his blanket he had time for one last little kiss against her temple before his door banged open to admit a very tart looking woman in noble cloths. "So it's true.... The great prince has more than just a fox as a pet it seems." Lox went completely rigid as every muscle in his body tightened, turning towards the woman there was nothing but loathing when he realized who stood at his door.

"If you value your miserable life Katrina, you'll leave my room. Remember that I have the right to force your marriage, not the other way around. Unlike you I don't fear my father and will meet him in honorable combat to stay my path. Your just a tool to be sold off to the highest bidder." The woman smirked and snapped the door closed behind her as Lox sighed deeply and rubbed his eyes tiredly. "You'll find it a hard task staying by my side Kara. My father is under the impression of marrying me off to gain more power to that witch but luckily he's wary of her family. I've never before witnessed a worse serpents nest as the Karthus family, and find it impossible that father would be ignorant enough to even consider bringing them anywhere near our own kin. They'd have knives in all our backs and smile to our faces all the same."

Kara blushed as he spoke of his loyalty towards her, as he kissed her cheek and held her close. She blushed through all this but still that affectionate smile still remained on her face. For some reason she could not understand, she felt comfortable there in his arms. Kara felt happy, warm, and at home. It was an odd feeling that only made her crave more. Sadly, a knock sounded at his door and he set her down upon the bed, kissing her temple and tucking her in like a child. A twinge of pain rang in her heart when she realized this.

Just as before he was so angry and violent toward the woman, having no respect for her, but Kara saw through the woman and understood his anger. She was snooty and thought herself great. She didn't say a word at his banter and simply slammed the door closed, Kara jumping at the loud noise. He turned toward her, exasperated and began to explain the situation. His words of staying at her side confused her, while the chime of marriage struck her heart. What does he mean stay by his side? How will marriage affect our relationship? Kara thought that she was only a pet to the prince, she thought the beats of her heart rang alone. The way he treated her, it must be so. "I...can be a good family pet," she uttered from the bed. "I don't see why problems would be cause with a marriage...I am simply a pet for you Prince." she said looking down at the luxurious sheets, her soft voice becoming low.

Lox smiled in a devious kind of way as he leaned towards her and crawled further onto the bed, carefully placing his arms on either side of her and giving the poor little fox no where to go but farther back until she was laying down. "Tell me then my dear little pet, you would be perfectly fine with my marriage to another woman?" Gently placing a kiss against her temple he couldn't help but sigh with pleasure at having such a beautiful woman so very close. "You wouldn't voice a single complaint having me sold away and having children with someone else considering that's the first thing I'm expected to do." Slipping his hands up to hold her cheeks in his hands he propped himself up on his elbows so their bodies lightly pressed against each other. "My dear Kara, your offering to be my loyal pet and living with me regardless of being expected to produce as many heirs and even keep a harem when I become a king myself? Because in all honesty I'd much rather prefer keeping my lovely little fox just as you are now." Hugging her against his chest and rolling over suddenly Lox smiled impishly, liking the idea brewing in his mind more and more. "We are already called lovers Kara, would you let me go to another woman when I'm already very very fond of you? If you'd prefer me not so close I will respect your wishes, but I do love the way you blush."

In all honesty, he hadn't pursued any sort of intimate relationship inside the court which was viewed as strange given his access to as many women as his title of prince gave him. Regardless of that fact he had chosen to forgo all advances due to the unsavory type of woman who inhabited the court, Katrina being a prime example but his little fox was different. She had a shyness that was utterly adorable along with the general honesty he could never expect from any of the other ladies he was wholly expected to fornicate with to produce heirs. The more he thought about it the more he wanted just a single lover to share his life with, and poor Kara was making quite the impression on him weather she knew it or not. "To be honest Kara, you could be far more stunning and graceful than all of the other ladies of the court combined... And I don't think it would make me happy in the least not having you at my side while cavorting with some woman I neither know nor care for. I know so little about you but your the first lady that I'd dearly love to know better..." With a little kiss to her cheek Lox smiled affectionately up at the woman who appeared in his life not more than a half day, and yet he liked her more than anyone else who sought his fancy. How very strange this world could be...

Suddenly the princes demeanor changed. His lips were upturned in a smirk and he was slowly advancing upon Kara. Her eyes wide with questions, she felt her back meet the bed. He asked her how she felt about him being married and once again placed a kiss upon her temple but this time he sighed. The feeling of his lips and the sound of his breath so close to her ears caused her to blush deeply. He only increased her embaressment when he cupped her hands and thier bodies lightly pressed together. S-So intimate, she thought. He kept teasing her in such a tone that she'd never heard him take on before, talking of children and living together. Her mind swirled so that she could barely grasp just what the Prince was talking about.

Suddenly the tables turned and he rolled over so that she was now laying a top of him. She could feel their hearts beat in time with one another and her cheeks became more rosy. "F-Fond," she softly stuttered, looking up at him from his chest. As he complimented her on her blush, it only deepened. The prince began to talk, this time of his unhappiness at marrying another woman and comparing her to the women in the court. Kara felt she should say something or do something. She started, "I-" but fell quiet, having no idea what to do. She could not remove herself from him, nor could she keep her eyes off of him. The fox looked down at her hands which were spread out upon his chest and softly answered, "Prince I....I'm not sure what you mean by all this. I am confused Sir, what do you mean?" Locks of wavy blonde fell at both sides of her pink cheeks as she stared at her fingers, which touched the man who so suddenly changed her life around.

Lox couldn't help but smile at the poor girls distress, she was so damn adorable it was difficult for him to believe she was still alone... then again she was a shape shifting fox. With his arms wrapped affectionately around her slender body he rolled to his side and dipped his head until his cheek rested softly against her soft hair. A deep sigh of pure satisfaction escaped him as he simply held her, his mind forever working the moment into his memory so that he'd never forget. It was true he hadn't courted her in the manner that his peers would approve of, on top of the fact that she was still quite unclothed (something he secretly was very happy about) and in a position that wouldn't occur with no one else asides lovers. His bliss was short lived as a rapping sounded at the door, which made him produce a sound that was terrible similar to a growl. "It seems we will never have but a few moments of peace little fox... But maybe we'll have some time after things quiet down a bit to continue our conversation." With one last kiss against her forehead Lox untangled himself from her and moved to open the door, thankful at least that whoever had knocked didn't have the gall to simply come barging in without invitation.

Low and behold it was once more someone Lox didn't want to deal with as Jerry came waltzing in once more with a sly look on his face. "Gone for less than an hour and your taking advantage of this poor woman again?! Your a terrible beast Loxy, I can't imagine how you managed to convince such an innocent little lady into such acts! On a lighter note dear, I've got some milder cloths being made for normal wear but one of my customers decided to not pay! And I think you'd look fabulous in this dress for tonight's ball!" The sound of Lox's head slamming into the solid wooden door produced quite an audible thud as he ground his teeth in frustration. "Oh my! Loxy forgot all about the costume ball tonight didn't he? Such a terrible shame! It's a good thing your bestest friend Jerry took the liberty to make you a strapping costume for the festivities! You should really treat me better.... Maybe to dinner some time! It seemed to Lox that all the gods of luck had decided to not only abandon him but curse him with such ill fortune as to laugh at his distress. Tonight was a grand ball that he was supposed to attend and supposed to come up with a costume, which he had promptly forgotten about with the appearance of Kara... And now he was royally screwed because he had nothing but what Jerry had came up with.

In all reality it was most likely going to be horrid, but at the very least he had a new friend to talk to instead of entertaining a bunch of stuck up bastards....

As the Prince held her so intimately close, Kara's heart wouldn't cease its flutters. This moment she was having with Lox was special, she knew that much, but to what extent she couldn't even fathom. Her face was buried once again in his neck and as she looked at it, she was so tempted to kiss it. Blushing she thought of pressing her lips to it and of tasting him. Her lips were parted and she inched her face closer to his neck when suddenly a knock came to his door. Flustered, she snapped away from his neck and regained her normal countenance. As he went to answer the door Kara sat under the covers questioning her own sanity. Her head snapped up from the silky covers at the word, "Ball." Only in her wildest dreams had she attended luxurious balls with dashing men and gay music. Kara's eyes flicked to Lox as he slammed his head upon the door. The event was gone from his mind until that moment, that much she could deduce. But still, her awe at being able to attend a ball kept her face lit up in a smile. Softly she responded to Jerry, "I'd love to go to a ball." The little fox was giddy and it was quite obvious. It wouldn't come as a surprise if her fox tail popped into existence at that moment, wagging happily. Holding the blankets close above her chest she looked expectantly at both Jerry and Lox, waiting for some sort of additional news.
