William Turner was not badly behaved for a young man of 19. He was mostly quiet, often paying close attention to to his work, maintaining good apprentice standards. He respected the Port Royal's blacksmith that he worked under, even when the man drunk himself to sleep, and he was forced to finish the remaining order of swords and various weapons. It was rare that the boy was offered jobs outside of the workshop, so whenever they came along, he never refused.
Commodor Ashertson, a man of fair wealth and little humor, had need of a skilled craftsman in his home, someone to come down every other day to fix his and the military's weapons. Asherton was amiable in his own way, but did expect a quality being and stood for nothing less. Will began his job on a bright and clear Wednesday in March. In his usual leather vest, white shirt, knee breeches and short ponytail, he set off on foot, bringing along a small pack of supplies. The meeting with Asherton was simple and to the point; clean everything, fix everything and I shall pay you. He was greeted by the man's wife before they even started, but was soon whisked away. All he caught was a glorious smile and pretty eyes, though it seemed that they held a glint of mischief.
