Giving a soft sight and a delightful stretch, you know the one that made everything feel so much better. Her green eyes had found themselves staring out into the courtyard. The day was gorgeous, as was most first days of summer, and the last day of classes. The sun was held high and proud in the crystal blue sky, were a few white fluffy clouds roll carelessly though the afternoon. Gentle riding on the warm breeze that she knew awaited her.

"Ashlynn. Yo Ash."
She was brought back to earth by the high pitched voice of her friend, and the sharp jabbing in her side. Giving off a small groan as she turned her eyes to the girl who stood before her. Her school bag hanging at her side.

She arched a slender brow, and ran her fingers through the long tendrils of the most unique red of hair. Her skin pale, and flawless. A big chase for a lot of the men that attended her school. "What is it Evah"She said unknowingly missing the bell signalling time to start her Summer break.

Her friend burst out in a gut full of laughter. Her blue eyes shimmering with amusement. But it clearly show the lost of what was going on , on Ashlynns face. "Bell went. "She said once calming."Off in dreamland again? anyways that's not what I wanted to ask. I was curious to know what your plans were for summer holidays. Gonna hang at the beach, we all know you need some color in you." Her friend teased her her free hand rest upon her hip.

Again, Gods she really must be out of it. Smiling softly she gathered her books into a pile before looking back up at Evah who was obviously trying to be patient in her response. "Well I was planning on surprising my Grandmum at her cottage."She s Aid standing up. which was the truth, she hadn't seen her grandmum for three years now, busy with school and work. Being the jewel of the family.

With a small wave and an "Alright have fun, see you at pre college courses" She said happily and took off in a near skipping fashion towards the door.

She made way to her car, Inhaling the fresh scent that always came on the breeze of summer. A relaxing scent. A smile curved her painted red lips as she slid into the drivers seat, shifting the gear into reverse. backing out of her parking stall before shifting to drive. She had all her things ready in the back seat, including some homemade snacks that wouldn't transpire in the heat. Along with a suite case of clothing, her wallet and few study books, to become a vet.

Music blasting she drove up the winding path, into the mountains, were a small grove resided, and was few hours away from any true civilization. Her grandmums land, and when she pasted on it was to be hears. The house was small, three bedrooms, living room large kitchen, a bathroom, and a large basement. the works. A barn resided in the back where her grandmum stabled few wild horses that passed through.

The forestry surrounded the home and bare spread out for miles either way,a gate at the opening of the path, that she had a key for. Gate meant to keep trespassers away, unless they wanted to brave the wilds alone on foot for about an hour.

Humming Softly she slowed the car to a stop, cutting the engine before slipping out, her heeled shoes crunching the dirt beneath. Gathering up her things she went to the porch. She went to open the door finding it locked. that was odd, Grandmum never left home during the summer, unless of emergencies.

Ashlynn, or Ash for short bit her lower lip as she unlocked the door with her spare key. "Grandmum Its Ash you home?"She called out into the quiet of the house. But nothing stirred. Setting her bags down she began searching the clean kept home. releasing a held breath she was surprised to find herself alone. But for how long?

Maybe she was out at the barn? maybe a wild horse foaled, or perhaps one of the wild animals had young or were injured or something. Who knew. With a turn and clicks of her heels she went to the door, leading to outside. Pausing to gaze at her car. Her eyes were wide in shock, or disbelief. Maybe both. Her car was destroyed. yet no sound was heard, nor did she see what had caused this to be.

It had started about two months ago.  He could now look back upon it and wonder at the change, but at the time he had just accepted it.  Every day the lone wolf slipped up to the creek and lapped up the water.  Could it have been the water? he now considered.  But he had been drinking at that water since he was a pup.  Perhaps the old woman had done something.  All the animals of the forest had learned to respect the old woman.  She never hunted or trapped, but had come to the rescue of those whose paws had been torn by the iron branches that snapped around them at times.  Her touch and the strange liquids she put on their cuts had helped in the healing.  Even before the change, he and others had realized that.

But he understood so much more now.  He understood the strange noises of the old woman and others of her breed had meaning, meanings he was beginning to understand.  The traps now made sense to him, and he sprang them without harm, to eat the offered bait and escape undamaged.  He understood the loud humming beasts that roared along the hard surface at the edge of the forest far faster than any animal could run.  No beasts, but machines, made by those such as the old woman.  The mechanics of the traps led him to understand the mechanics of the cars.  He understood them; he had a healthy respect for them; but he no longer feared them.

What made him smarter was probably the same source of what made him stronger.  He knew his muscles had grown, even his length, when he stood on hind legs and balanced.  He kept going back to the old woman's lair, knowing it was built and how it had been done.  He thought the old woman could give him answers to the questions of his change, his and other animals that drank at the creek.  But she was nowhere to be found.

But today, one of the mechanisms rolled slowly up the dirt path to the old woman's house.  He now recognized that the one who emerged was of the old woman's pack, by her smell and appearance.  A female, despite her strange furs.  He could smell that too.  Young, and fertile.  He watched her through the foliage as she entered the house and looked around, calling for the old woman.  'Grandmum.'  It was a name.  He had never had a name, but he remembered the old woman offering him scraps and calling him, "Hello there, Lobo.  How are you today?"  Lobo.  That must be his name.

The woods were scarce of his kind.  He was an adult, vibrant male, and had not mated.  The young one of the Grandmum smelled of heat.  He knew so much more now, but he was still a wolf, and he knew what he wanted.  But the young one must not leave.  He looked around, seeing the bear and the cougar, his companions with whom he had explored the old woman's barn and shared their discoveries.  They had found tools and took them into the forest, experimenting and finding that their paws now adapted to their use.  Others came to help.  Wheels came off, while the bear held the car up until they could be taken into the woods.  Cables and wires were disconnected or torn out; rubber belts pulled from their pulleys.  They were needed for the mechanism.  Without the mechanism, the girl could not leave.

The group scampered into the woods and now watched the house, waiting to see what the girl would do now.  If she has no weapons, Lobo thought, no projectiles that pierced the toughest flesh powered by the loud bang, then she would be no stronger than the weakest of them.  As such she was prey, but not as a meal.  As a mate, and Lobo felt himself stirring to take her.
