Ciar Coventry stood on the deck of her uncleâs ship, enjoying the hot sun and the gentle breeze that carried them toward their destination. Within the month, she was supposed to be married, though it was going to be hard without her mother being there. It had always been her motherâs dream to see her daughter get married to someone with a title. She sighed as she leaned against the rail, staring at the distant horizon. No, she was going elsewhere, to marry a man that she had never met, willing to take her despite her familyâs money troubles. She glanced toward the stern of the ship when she saw something out there, but she brushed it off as nothing. It was probably just a bird, nothing important. It wasnât until there was a call from the crowâs nest that she realized that it wasnât nothing. Ciar was rushed below deck by several of her uncleâs men. She sighed softly and sat on her bed, waiting for something to happen. She worried for her uncle, but there wasnât anything she could do right now.
