Everything was falling apart, or maybe it always had been. God knows it hasn't been the same in years. He knew he was reaching the end of his rope, or had he long let go of the last string. A ten year marriage that maybe should never have been. Neither of them were smart enough to have blown the whistle on this one, too proud, too comfortable, too safe...regardless, they were on the verge of collapse and he had seen it coming from miles away. His marriage to Joceyln was held together to lies and concious ignorance of their reality, refusing to do something about it or just let it go for one reason or another that he couldn't even figure out.
Other than that, Jensen's life was fine. He had amassed a small fortune selling, and eventually designing unique sports cars, and they had a nice house in a nice suburb with a nice lawn, fence and cars in the driveway. All of that seemed so senseless now as he sat in the bathroom of his parents-in-law, so painfully aware of the denial his wife and him clung too to make their relationship somehow work. There was no spark in the bedroom, hadn't been for years and though they could hide the strain behind fake smiles and stories, the constant question as to why the two of them haven't had children yet was one that was hard to avoid with a masked face. Christ, he and Jocelyn were in their late thrities and never made a plan for offspring, let alone going through the act. This made his just run his tired hands over his face, the silver and gold wedding band catching the sun streaming in the frosted window. Passing back through his dirty blond hair he sighed as he stared at the floor.
"Fuck he mumbled to himself as he thought about the pain of being at this family reunion..the questions, the lies...and that strange little cousin of Jocelyn's. She had grown into herself quite well since her younger teens..but..
"Bah..don't give it a thought..." Jensen mumbled to himself as he slowly stood up, straightening his black dress slacks as he walked over to the sink, running the water into his hands before splashing his face, turning off the stream before staring at the glass. "Just have to wear it for three more days." He told himself as he did up the first few buttons on his shirt. Drawing in a deep breath, he opened the door and with a fake smile plastered on his face, he rejoined the wild circus, make sure to stay clear of that cousin...
