Somewhere over the rainbow.
A figure crouched low among the golden waves of plants, his plain clothes hiding him perfectly. He needed to get past the guards, out of the borders of the village. Everyone here was too superstitious for the 19 year old wayfarer, which meant the second he crossed the border into 'Lamia Territory', he would be free to look for the food he could not afford in town. He sighed, creeping along the grass. He didn't make it far before the guards spotted him. The alarms went up, and Trystan made a mad dash for the borderline. He dived just as the first arrows were fired, barely making it across the line. Without a backwards glance, he walked on, knowing they were too scared to dare set foot in such, 'dangerous' lands.
His hay-colored hair, and average complexion, combined with average clothes made him virtually unseeable as he continued to duck arrows, heading farther away. Emerald green eyes and a small, unsheathed dagger gave him away though.Eventually, he made it out of the archers range. Now, to find food.

Alisa sat in a tree completly naked her body was beautifully tanned, her long tail gently wafting in the dessert breeze, she was eating an apple when she saw a young man come over the horizon, this man was obviously somewhere he didnt belong, and in her long life she had never seen a villager in these parts, they only worked by supply lines and never left their village, and for good reason, as beautiful as alisa was, she was one of the most dangerous predators in the world, she watched the boy with her keen eyes, he was getting closer to her tree, she noticed he was carrying a small dagger, if he tried to use it she planned to use her long whiplike tail to immediately disarm him.

The wayfarer looked around, chuckling. Superstitious fools. There was nothing out here but grass, and hopefully a safe haven. He looked over his shoulder, sheathing his blade. "Hm. Finally being free from those bastard guards of that bastard king sure has a weight lifted from me." He chuckled to himself, scratching his head. His clothes was thick, and he rummaged around in the tall grass, finally pulling a blade from the ground. "Heheh. Preparation is key." He smiled to himself, strapping the long sword to his belt. He bent down again, rummaging around until he pulled out a set of Archer Armor, all made of leather. He whistled, walking on.

Alisa sat upright in her tree branch when she saw the man pull out a sword and some light armor, she was now looking forward to this meeting, this traveler was smart and well prepared, and probably not even aware of Alisas presence, she hopped down from her tree and landed without a sound, the traveler was close but his back was turned, she crept up behind him and put one hand on his shoulder and stopped him from walking, "Dont you know there are things that go bump in the night out here?" She whispered in his ear.

Trystan froze, growling. "Don't you know it's bad to sneak up on strangers?" He leaned back onto his attacker, pulling out his dagger. Taking a small jab at the creatures wrist, he danced out of it's..., her reach. He stopped, looking in amazement at the lower, snake like portion of the body. It was only the briefest second though, until he danced back far enough to pull out his nimble longsword. He crouched low, baring his teeth. He knew he couldn't run. Based on how she'd caught him off guard, she was a fast little bugger. The growl rumbled from deep in his throat. "If you were smart, you'd leave me be." He watched her every movement, waiting for her to strike first.

She circled him and when she was behind him she put a hand on his shoulder, "Relax handsome traveler, I am not here to harm you as long as you sheathe your blade." She picked up a rock with her tail and crushed it using only her tail, "Not that you could, fight me off if i tried to kill you, but, reguardless, i really mean no harm to you." She stepped back in front of him, "I am why your people do not enter the dessert, they fear me, why? Because i drink blood, travelers and animals alike, anything that bleeds and lives, its blood is my life, and you smell really really good."

He shook his head, straightening a little in shock as she breezed behind him. "I bleed yes, but so do you. What can bleed, can die." He growled at the mention of the village. "Those people are superstitous and old. People fear what they can't kill. I merely view it as a challenge." He winced as she crushed the rock to powder with her tail. "Leave me be. I've come for food, and food only. I don't plan on losing blood here." He growled, trying to make a move around her, sheathing his longsword, but keeping his dagger drawn.

"Your sword, cannot break my skin traveler, but as i stated i am not here to hurt you, you are looking for food, i can show you how to get it, i LIVE in this dessert, i ask nothing in return of simply helping you, and besides the sooner you are out of my territory the easier it is on me to have my space back." She smiled and her snakelike tongue slithered out of her mouth, as she took a breath, "I wont drink any of your blood either that thought hasnt crossed my mind."

The traveller sighed, sheathing his dagger. "I don't believe you don't expect anything in return. Help me find food, and another way out of your territory, and I might give you something in return." He looked around, noticing for the first time the snake-girl, he refused to call her a Lamia, was completely naked, he blushed, the red on his cheeks betraying his otherwise cool demeanor. "Well, lead the way. We are losing daylight, and I'd prefer it if I was gone by sunset."

She smiled a snakelike smile showing her fangs, "Im sure you have more than what i require, and if you leave at night, you are already in trouble, as i said there are things that go bump in the night and im the least of your worries, about a mile ahead there is an oasis with some of the most delicious fruit you have ever tasted, along with my small home, the water is fresh, and cool, if you need to bathe, no one around for miles so privacy is endless, when you are ready to depart i will lead the way."

He nodded, looking around. "Well, let's go then. The quicker I get this over with, the quicker I can leave." He followed her, sword drawn, his eyes scanning for threats along the desert sands. "Stop. Don't move. There's something watching us." His ears picked up the sound before his eyes registered it. He tackled the snake girl out of the way, blocking the needle with the blade. "Looks like we have company. Watch how we do things, then judge whether my blade is a threat." He leapt into the air, narrowly dodgeing another needle. The creature firing at them, a large, heavily armored scorpion. He landed in front of it, smiling as the thing readied it's claws. He chuckled, dodgeing it's first attacks. He sliced the joints on the claws, and then with pinpoint accuracy, hucked his dagger into the scorpion's poison pouch. He looked back at the Lamia, accepting it now, judging her reaction.

Alisa clapped sarcastically, "That was nice." and at that very moment another gigantic scorpion was creeping upon her, its stinger raised high, the instant before it hit the ground with a dull thud, she quite literally disappeared in a flurry of sand, she was on top of the creature, the scorpion was still trying to yank its stinger out of the ground when alisa reached down, grabbed both joints of the claws and yanked them off effortlessly, the scorpion wriggled and stuggled for a few seconds till it bled to death, she hopped down and in another flurry of sand she was next to the traveler, "Very effective indeed, you have excellent fighting skills with weapons, but without them your strength is gone against the creatures of the dessert and i would preferr the natural balance not being upset in my home, so lets just keep moving and avoid any threats."

Trystan rolled his eyes, yanking his dagger from the dead scorpion's tail. "Now, can we go? The next thing that tries to kill me is going to get sliced, so if you don't want dead desert creatures all over, we'd better hightail it." He growled, kepping his dagger drawn. It was then, as the sun bounced off of it, that it became evident that the blade had tiny, wicked teeth. His eyes still swept the sands, waiting for another damned scorpion to peek it's ugly little head out of the ground. Unfortunately, none did. The way to the oasis was relatively calm. All he had to worry about was his armor overheating. Hot armor was weak, and weak armor often meant death.

They arrived at an outcropping of trees with a weaved vine entrance to it, she walked through ahead of him swaying her hips and gently arching her tail and moving it side to side, as she jumped in the oasis a gentle splash was heard followed by more splashing and the barking of a dessert wolf who jumped in the water as well and swam over to alisa and proceded to lick her all over her face, she giggled, "Boe, calm down now we have guests." The dog actually listened, he swam back out and stood next to the vine entrance as if guarding it, it was the only way in and out of the oaisis, and boe was a rather large wolf.

Trystan eyed the wolf, nodding at it respectfully. He watched as the snake-girl played around in the water, and he dug through his pockets, pulling out a piece of homemade jerky. He tossed it over to where the wolf was standing, in case he got hungry. The traveller had an amazing respect for wolves and other canines. He looked back at the girl. "Where is the food? I need to stock up and leave before it gets dark." He sighed, rubbing his neck as he shifted uneasily from foot to foot. When she was in the water, she looked like a normal, extremely attractive woman. He was halfway tempted to join her, but remembered the power of her tail. He didn't want to be trapped here. God knows what could happen in his sleep.

"Darling look around you, look at the trees." There was a ladder leading up to every fruit bearing tree in the oasis, the ladders were natural vines, she had power over nature as well, she had commanded them to grow into ladders, there was a variety of fruits ranging from the simplest of apple to even the most exotic mango, "Take what you like, and you arent going anywhere, i havent had a visitor in years, and i do so adore your company, please stay, i wont murder you i promise, and when i give my word i dont break it." She smiled and dove under the water, after a few moments of fishing around she came back up with a few fish and some clams, "Why dont you start a fire, we can eat like kings!"

As he looked around, he saw only fruits, the only meat it seemed coming from the pool the Lamia was swimming in. His mind was working over how long it would take him to prepare the fruit for desert travel. "I can only stay 3 days at most. There is an extremely important meeting of sorts I must be present for." He looked up at the fruit-baring trees, and quickly began to climb, picking fruits here and there. "It will take about a day and a half for the fruit to be ready if the weather keeps up. I'll need another half day to sharpen my weapons, and build a bow and some arrows." He was thinking aloud, an old habbit of his. He wiped his forehead, which was covered in sand from his scuffle with the scorpion.

"You can stay as long as you like, this is my paradise and you can stay for the rest of your mortal life if you like." She dove under the pool which was a good fifty feet deep and she rocketed out of it doing a mid air flip and landing gracefully back in, she was going to seduce this mortal tonight, she was going to show him pleasure he had never felt before, "There is some wood by the house and tinder in the drawer by the door, you can start a fire with that." She leapt in and out of the water playfully like a dolphin, boe ran around the edges of the water barking playfully at her.

Trystan was transfixed, his eyes riveted on the Lamia's beautiful form. He snapped himself out of it, going to grab the firewood and tinder from where she said. He got the fire going in not time, placing the sliced fruit on a slab of wood just outside of the fire's burning fingers. Every now and then his eyes would focus on the Lamia, and he would think of how refreshing that water must be, how dirty he must be. He shook his head, remembering the rock from earlier. He focused on gutting the fish, cleaning the scales and adding it to the wooden slab, along with the clams. Finally, when there was nothing left to do, he took off his light armor, rolling his shoulders. His bad shoulder was acting up again, and as he cracked it back into place, he winced. He rubbed some more sand from his face, shaking his head. He was truly tempted to jump in, regardless of what her tail was capable of.

Alisa swam over to the shore slowly and gracefully, with hips swaying and tail dangling she got out of the water and over to the fire, she lowered herself on a coil and warmed her hands on the fire, her hair dripping wet she grabbed it and wrung it out, "That water is sooo refreshing." She moaned, "You should have joined me." Her tail twitched and moved, boe walked over and sat next to her and she pat and stroked him with her tail, the dog playfully nipped at it as she toyed with him, a roar was heard from the dense foliage in the back of the oasis, and a massive jungle tiger walked from it, he started sprinting over, and stopped inches from Alisa, the cat curled up next to her, and purred like a kitten when she petted him.

Trystan blushed as the Lamia slithered out of the water, but his lustful thoughts were cut short by a roar coming from the dense foliage. He stood abruptly, drawing his dagger as the tiger jumped and sprinted towards them, only to stare in amazement as it stopped and curled up next to the snake woman. He sighed, shaking his head as she wrung the water out of her hair. "I get the strange feeling you want something from me Lamia." He leaned forward, narrowing his eyes. "What is it. Just tell me."

Alisa laughed, "All i want is a little company, silly mortal, perhaps some fun, who knows?" She shrugged, "Youre getting something out of it arent you, food, something you were seeing, and foregoing the fact i am half snake, you do find me attractive i can see it in your eyes and i know that you want to try things with me, things you cant try with a mortal woman, the fantasies of gods, and im here to tell you that, that would be all okay with me." Her forked tongue flicked out of her mouth.

He looked up as the light started to fade from the canopy of trees. "And so, the first night begins." He blinked, blushing as he realized what she said was true. "As a soldier, I must acknowledge you do speak the truth, but on the same note, I must refuse. If I do not appear at my destination, many, many lives will be lost. War is brewing, Lamia." He stood, shaking his head. "I'm here to keep you company, and only that, until it is my time to leave." He eyed the tiger nervously, not really worried about the wolf. He walked over to the pool, crouching, scooping the water to clean the dirt from his face.
He glanced back, a questioning look in his eyes. "What do you mean by 'have some fun'? I do hope you aren't referring to me." The blush on his cheeks betrayed his innocence on the subject of women.

"I certainly am, my fleshy friend." She smiled a fangy smile and her snakelike tongue flicked in and out of her mouth, "I dont mean anything dangerous, i mean pleasure, but for now i think we should eat, im starved and im sure you are as well, so why not feast on natures bounty and we can discuss matters of pleasure later." She smiled again as she picked up one of the now cooked fish and started eating it.

He shuddered, trying to force the blush away from his face. He picked a cooked fish, pulling something out of a pouch and sprinkling onto the cooked fish. "Every traveller knows to carry his own signature spice. Mine happens to be a concoction called 'Firepowder'. He chuckled, breathing out a small flame. "The effects go when water is added." He sighed, quickly finishing his fish. He looked away from the snake girl, nervous about what would happen now. It was dark outside now, he knew from the lack of light through the trees. His knight eyes weren't the best, and he couldn't see very far beyond the glow of the fire. "You uh, may need to lead me to your house. It's too dark for me to see much of anything." He shuddered, closing his eyes. He'd have to be close to a powerful tail, and a woman that made him blush. Wonderful.
