The young woman huddled under the box, her breath puffed out in white before her eyes, the sky was dark, hinting at the possibility of snow soon. The people at the mouth of the alley hurried by her, she was just a lowly street rat now. No one cared anymore, she pulled her knees closer to her body, trying to keep warm. She had little clothing left to her thin figure, she had been out on the street a month now. Her mother had died, leaving her a huge amount of debt, which she had tried to pay while also trying to keep the house. It had failed, they took everything. She closed her light blue eyes, auburn hair knotted around her head from no use of a shower, nor a comb.
Oh how she missed warmth, and food. Her stomach growled weakly now, sending shooting pains behind her ribs. She winced, her skin was pale, mixed with bruises in all stages of healing. She'd gotten into a couple of fights the past could of days, trying to steal food was difficult, she coughed, her body heaving, she was sick. She knew if it did snow, she wouldn't live through-out the night, she would be frozen by the morning. If anyone stopped, she would beg them, she would offer herself up in anyways so long as they could take her in for the night, longer if they pleased. "Please... anyone...." She called out softly.
