Greetings,
I'm looking for literate male or female writers to play games based in Swords and Sorcery settings, either established or original. I don't go for males playing females but I don't mind if females play males. I'm sexist like that.
For those ignorant of what constitutes Swords and Sorcery a brief description follows courtesy of Wikipedia:
Since its inception, many attempts have been made to redefine precisely what "sword and sorcery" is. Although many debate the finer points, the consensus characterizes it by a strong bias toward fast-paced, action-rich tales set within a quasi-mythical or fantastical framework. Unlike high or epic fantasy, the stakes tend to be personal, the danger confined to the moment of telling.
Many sword and sorcery tales have been turned into a lengthy series of adventures. Their lower stakes and less than world-threatening dangers make this more plausible than a repetition of the perils of epic fantasy. So too the nature of the heroes; most sword-and-sorcery protagonists, travellers by nature, find peace after adventure deathly dull.
Characters in Swords and Sorcery tales tend to be motivated by personal reasons such as revenge, greed or lust for adventure, as opposed to high ideals of goodness and justice. They are more human in their conception and frequently make mistakes, fail and do the wrong thing.
There are usually none of the typical fantasy races like elves and dwarves, very little magic and worlds have a gritty feel. Enemies are more likely to be other humans, wild animals, or to add a fantastical element, sometimes demons and undead.
What I need from you
Literacy- Use a spell check, Word comes with one.
Effort- I'm not here to carry the story, if I wanted to write most of it myself I'd just write fiction.
A Level of Realism- Yes, realism in a fantasy story. It's not possible to jump thirty feet into the air in this world, and it shouldn't happen in a game either. No DBZ uber moves please.
Attention- Read my posts. If I've said my character as a tall, slim woman with white dreadlocks and a cool demeanour don't turn her into a short, busty redhead, with a warm smile just because that's what you fancy. If you don't like my characters the way they are then don't offer to play with them.
What I can do without
Time Wasters- If you think that you might not be able to fulfil a game for whatever reason then don't bother to get in touch in the first place. I will name and shame those who drop games without an explanation.
God moders- I write for my character, you don't. If you start doing this I'm dropping you like a hot potato.
Smut- If you want to just jerk off then visit a porno site, I want to write an epic tale.
Uber Characters- I really don't like writing with Elite characters, if your character can save the world all by him/herself then off you go and save it.
'Girlie' Girls- I want to team up with fellow warriors, shamankas, sorceresses, strong independent women. Even freed slaves who have some fight in them and don't just expect to be saved all the time are good. I can't stand giggling 'oh my' girls.
So, if you're still with me here are some proposals;
Sisters to the Slaughter
FxF or Small Group
Basic Concept: The people of the Northern Lands are a hardy people, a race of warriors and shaman, who frequently fight with their neighbouring tribes over land and hunting rights. In a particularly violent raid, two childhood friends on the brink of womanhood are captured and enslaved as their village is burned to the ground. The two young women are forced to work in the mines, hauling ore to the surface, until they eventually escape and vow revenge on the marauders that killed their friends and family.
Background: This could either be two warrior women or a warrior and a shamanka, either way I'd be playing a warrior. The idea being that the women would flee their former masters and engage in a life of adventure before killing said former masters.
The Scarlet Circle
MxF or FxF
Basic Concept: Paiking, seat of the sorcerers of Khitai who rule the eastern land with their dark magic. Cults dedicated to demon worship and black sorcery abound, though none more successful than the dreaded Scarlet Circle, an enclave of evil sorcerers ruled by Yah Chien from his violet towered fortress. You are a fearless or perhaps foolhardy adventurer, a foreign treasure hunter who has heard rumours of vast wealth contained with the Scarlet Circle's lair, and are determined on liberating some of the treasures. But as you scale the seemingly impenetrable tower you encounter a young Khitai woman who has recently lost her brother to the Circle's evil and is determined to kill Yah Chien.
Background:
Two people with a similar goal, though different motives, decide to work together to overcome a common enemy.
Taken
Bride of the Spider God
MxF or FxF or Small Group
Basic Concept: A fighting duo, or small group, are enlisted to free a captured princess from an evil cult that worship Zath, the spider god of Zamora. However when they eventually fight their way to the cult's underground lair they discover that the princess is a willing convert and the cult's High Priest plans to wed her to their infernal deity.
Background: Any configuration of players for this one, it'd be a generally epic adventure set in Hyboria.
EDIT: The Sex Stuff
Actually, the adult content isn't a major factor and may be used to season the story as opposed to being the driving force. I'm perfectly happy to exclude any sexual scene altogether or keep them fairly PG13. However I'm open to games with an explicit sexual content as well so here are some yays and nays.
Yays
Vanilla Sex- Oh no, how boring. Really? When was the last time you saw Red Sonja with nipple clamps outside Rule 34? Or Conan wearing latex trousers and a butt plug? Vanilla sex can still be passionate, hot, gasping, sweaty and exciting without the violet wands and D/s.
Passionate Sex- Gasping, moaning, sweaty, up against a wall, on the floor of the inn, in the woods, gimme some passion.
Nays
D/s, BDSM- This was mostly covered under the Vanilla Sex paragraph above but just to reiterate, I'm not interested in this kind of thing. I'm not going to play a Barbarian Domme Queen who'll kick your balls nor will I play a slave girl who enjoys licking your boots and being anally raped.
Rape- If she doesn't want it to happen it isn't going to happen.
Weird Partners- Yes, I guess it would be kind of weirdly interesting if the High Priestess of a fertility cult had a dick as well as boobs but that doesn't mean I'm going to shag her. Same goes for animals, monsters and anyone not an adult.
Sloppy Stuff- Watersports, poo, bukkake = no way.
Mutilation, Gore, Vore and Death- I don't count scars and bruises as mutilation and as long as it's not for sexual purposes I don't mind if a character loses an eye, a finger or something like that, over the course of the adventure. However lost limbs, sexual torture, incredibly graphic descriptions of gore and snuff aren't for me.
PM me if interested, I'm more likely to see the big white envelope at the top of the screen.
