Katherine sighed as she looked at her locker. Someone - probably one of the more popular football stars of the school - had thought it would be funny to pump... She didn't know what it was when it'd been pumped into her locker, but it smelled like sour milk now, and it looked like... Well, she wasn't going to say anything like that out loud. "Oh, no..." She grimaced as she saw that the 'air holes' in the bottom of her locker were leaking the liquid into the locker below her. "Oh, I'm sorry, Charles," she whimpered to the freshman that had the misfortune of being put under her that year, biting her chapped pink lips as she adjusted her glasses.

"I-it's allright... You did warn... Oh, man, my jacket," the boy said, sticking out his tongue as he pulled out his favorite jacket. "What did you ever do for those jerks to do this?"

"I refused to to their homework," she said, closing her locker, "I"m going to go get the janitor to help... You better get to class..." As she walked away, she saw a group of the football players in the open lunchroom, enjoying their lunch period. She glared at the boys as she walked before she saw him. She blushed before she pulled her green eyes away. No... He was probably one of her tormenters. Though, he'd seemed nice enough when they'd been paired together for chemestry... She blushed again, shaking her dark curly head, muttering to herself, "Stop that!" She started walking quicker, wanting to get to the janitor's office before he went to lunch himself. "Mr. Fredricks," she asked, knocking on the door, "Sir?"

Matt didn't really enjoy eating lunch room meals to much noise and mixing scents Matt sat a little ways apart from the other football players while on the team he wasn't much for their immature boasting. Matt was common for a football player, tall wide shouldered standing at 6'4 he was average with the others on the team. He sighed as he pushed his black hair back, looking out over the lunch room he noticed Katherine hurrying over to the Janitors office. Curious about what she could be doing he stands and strolls over to her he was the rugged handsome sort with amber colored eyes, he walks over to her.

"Hey Katherine what's up?" he asks honestly curious even as he catches a faint hint of sour milk. He didn't like what the other boys on the team did to get back at them for telling them she wasn't going to do their homework. "Something happen?" he asked looking at her with genuine concern, many of the pranks could be hurtful to some people and for Matt he didn't want it to be Katherine in a odd way he found her attractive.

Katherine barely hid her squeak as Matt came up behind her, turning around, she saw the other football players still hamming it up at their table. "Ah... Matt..." She bit her lip as she looked up at him, a horrible nervous habit. She frowned as he asked if something happened, "Like you don't know..." She then turned away, knocking on the door, "Your jerk 'friends' decided that they wanted their chemistry homework done this morning when I said 'no' for the umpteenth time yesterday afternoon. I think they put whipped cream in my locker. Idiots probably thought that it would stay cold."

Matt was not surprised to hear this he knew his team mates would do something like that, "I'm apologize for them they're idiots. I'll help you clean up." he said offering his services. Matt admitted that beyond the Sour Milk smell he could smell her that light perfume that hung around her was attractive, "I had nothing to do with that I swear." he said crossing his heart in an X. Matt never needed help on his homework he wasn't smart but he passed with B+ average. He glared back at his table trying to puzzle out who it was that had done but he had little luck most of the guys were just talking about the latest fling. He looked back at her hoping she would take him up on his offer of help.

She pouted softly, unsure if she should trust him or not still. Sighing, she nodded, "Alright... Looks like the janitor isn't here anyways... I wonder where he went off too..." She gave a shrug, "If you'll go get a bunch of napkins, I'll get some water to clean it up better." She smiled softly at him in way of thanks before she started walking, going to one of the coke machines to get a water for cleaning up the mess. Her hips had an unconscious sway as she walked, perhaps one of the more attractive things about the mousy bookworm. Always wearing big and unflattering sweaters, no male in the school was sure of her chest size until Jimmy Mayden - a football player - managed to sneak up behind her in a lunch period to pull it up, making a big scene about her decently sized breasts in a simple cotton bra. She still had nightmares about that day. A few of the goths still whistled at her. Maybe she should have just let herself get fat, she thought, then at least she'd stop getting hit on by jerks that heard of that day and the body she had underneath her sweaters. She'd been run out of the school library for fear of them.

Nodding Matt hurried to do what she asked grabbing a napkin dispenser he would put it back when they were done. Matt had been there when one of the football jocks had pulled up Katherine's sweater he had been surprised to see such a nice body hidden beneath such a bulky thing as her sweater. He hurried to wait at her locker his nose wrinkled and he covered his nose and mouth the smell made him want to hit a bathroom it was so bad. Ignoring the smell he found one of the hall trash cans and brought it over so they could dispose of the foul substance easily and with out making it worse. He had to feel sorry for the kid who was beneath her getting this on ones clothes or even books would be a bad thing.

"Ewww... Well... At least no books were ruined... I warned my downstairs neighbor about this," she said, pulling out a bit of old homework and throwing it away before she took some of the napkins. "Can you get his locker? The combo's 35 - 78 - 64." She was careful to make sure none of the vile stuff got on him as she cleaned the upper locker. As they finished, she used some of the water to clean her hands before handing it to him, "That should get you by till you can get to the bathroom to wash... Oh, God..." She could smell the vile stench on her fingers now, "Yeah... I'm gunna go do that now... Then I gotta get to class." She looked up at him, biting her lips gently, "Ah... Thanks for the help..."

Matt smiled, "Don't worry about it, though the smell is going to linger." he joked chuckling lightly. "Listen again I'm sorry this happened I'll talk to the coach." he offered as he dumped the last of the napkins into the trash. He could already smell the disgusting stench on himself which made him self conscious. "I'll see you science." he said as they parted ways he went to the bathroom using soap and water got rid of it mostly but to his nose it was there faint but there. He hurried to lunch room to grab his bag and was off to study hall for him he hoped that the guys would leave her alone.

"Oh, Lord, please don't. The last time someone did that it only got worse," she said with a sigh, "Thanks for the thought though." She gave him a quirk of a smile before she began moving to the girl's bathroom, hurrying so she wouldn't be any later for class. She used hot water and soap, scrubbing a good bit till she couldn't smell it any more - or at least smelled the soap more than the milk. "Alright..." She sighed softly, leaving the bathroom and heading to class.

-----

Later, she was in science, trying to ignore the snickers coming from two of the football players that sat away from her - it was probably them, she figured, seeing as they were the ones asking for homework the most. She sighed and leaned forwards in her seat, resting her arms on her desk, she slid forwards more to lean and lay her head on them comfortably as she closed her eyes, counting the seconds in hopes of making time go by faster and waiting for the class to start.

Matt had to stop by his locker to switch out his books before making his way to class, hefting his bag he cursed his luck that his locker had to be across the school from his science class. He made it however just as the bell rang he had had to run thankfully the hall were mostly empty he found his usual spot taken but saw that Katherine sat alone. She looked like she was resting so he sat down next to her with out saying anything, the stench of what they had cleaned from her locker had faded to be replaced by the smell of the schools soap though there was still a trace of it. He looked at the football players and glared at there backs before getting out his science book and making it into a pillow, "Not the best place for a nap isn't it?" he asked Katherine.

"Matt? Aren't you Marry's partner this week," she asked, looking up, she saw his usual seat taken by the cheerleader's current conquest - a poor band boy who didn't know what he was in for. Also, her current partner, "Ahh... Nevermind..." She sat up, "Just wishing class would start... I can hear your team mates behind us, most likely planning something..." She sighed and shook her head, "We're going over molecular stability today right?" She brought her hand to her curly mousey hair, shaking out the messy curls as she looked at the board, "Yeah, that's what chapter seven's about..."

Matt sighed he hated science mainly because he was something that science said should not exist, "Wake me when its over." he said in a joking tone as he laid his head on his desk. He just wished school would end and he could go for his run he rolled his shoulders as he settled into his chair and opened his book to the chapter. Matt looked over at Katherine just watching her for a brief moment till the teacher walked in and the class started. He droned on and Matt took notes in silence his eyes drifting toward the clock as it slowly ticked away the time till the class was over and so was school.

Matt sighed in relief once the bell rang he shoved his book and notes into his bag and zipping it up he stood, "See you tomorrow Katherine." he said as he looked back at her. Again he caught himself eyeing her up and stopped himself.

------------------------------

Far from school near the woods that separated his house from the school Matt was in a thicket he made sure no one could see him as he changed forms after stuffing his clothes into his bag. In his other form the world looked and smelled differently even as dusk fell he started off moving toward his home his pack on his back he sniffed the air and caught a scent that was familiar and made his way toward it.

"See you," she said, giving him a wave before she stood up herself with her bag and notebook. She headed to her locker, getting her things to study before she left the school. As she was walking home, her sneaker clad feet padding softly on the sidewalk, she blinked as she saw a familiar figure on the sidewalk: Her dog, the poor old, decrepit and tiny Yorkshire terrier. "Snooper," she said with a blink. What was he doing out of the house? As the dog began to take off, she yelped out his name again, running after him. "Holy! Dammit," she cursed, knowing the dog hadn't run like this in years. He was nearly as old as she was. "Snooper!" She ran after the dog, finally ending up with him in the same wood two hours later that Matt had come to. "Oh, Dammit! Snooper!" She called to the dog as it ran into the bush. "Snooper!" She gasped for breath - she wasn't an athlete and two hours was a long time to run. "Dammit... This is why I wanted a fish!" Who in their right mind gave a three year old a puppy, she'd always wondered of her parents. She took a minute outside the tree line, catching her breath before she started in, an hour later, the young woman realized: Not only was it getting dark, and she couldn't find Snooper, but... She was lost. "Oh, shoot..." She looked up, not really able to see the sky from beneath the trees.

Matt ran through the underbrush revering in the feel of his muscles moving effortlessly beneath his fur as he chased down that familiar scent. That's when he spotted that old Terrier such a clever dog always busting out of its yard, Matt sniffed at him he was old but full of life he barked at Matt who moved on still following that familiar scent. He came to the edge of the tree line his amber eyes looking out at Katherine, he could smell her perfume, the soap from school and the smell that was just her. He growled lightly more curious as to why she would be so close to the woods, he looked at her from the shadows of the underbrush.

"Snooper! You terd, where are you?" Katherine continued to call for her pet, beginning to become afraid as it started turning twilight. Being alone in the woods at night was never a good idea, especially with their town's history of no one coming out again. "Dammit, Snooper!" She wasn't even sure which way to go... "Dammit... Mom, this is why I want a phone," she grumbled, wishing her mother would get with the century. She deserved to have a phone for her grades, and it was good for dangerous situations like this besides! "Snooper!"

Matt came out of the bushes and padded toward Katherine in all evidence he looked like a large wolf with a back pack on his back. He trotted closer to her before stopping and sitting on his haunches watching her only a few feet away his eyes just watching her. He had decided to have some fun nothing dangerous maybe walk her home or give her scare she would never know it was him and besides it wasn't as if he was going to chase her down. He sat there watching her as the wind picked up a little kicking up the scent of the forest.

"SNOOPER!" Katherine sighed, where was that dog? She was just about to curse in her fustration before she heard something - something big - behind her. She turned around and saw the wolf. It's appearance drawing her attention away from the backpack on his back, her eyes widened as she saw it. "Oh, God..." She slowly started backing away - wolves were not known for being friendly. Her eyes were wide with her terror as she backed away, quickly turning to start running away from the beast.

Matt started after her he would just chase her and nip her arm, he was unaware that the old myth about biting some one made them a werewolf as well. He rushed after her easily overtaking her he passed her and came to a stop growling low as he snarled he meant no real threat but she would be unaware of this or even who he was. He stalked closer to her his amber eyes fixed on her as he moved ever closer till he reached her. He came close then to her hand he could just make out the stink from the substance they had cleaned from her locker and he bit her hand harder than he meant to but then turned and bolted off. Oblivious to what he had just done carried consequences he had no knowing would come of what he believed to be harmless fun.

"Oh, god... Ohgodohgodohgod!" The young woman ran as she was chased by the creature. "SHIT," she cried out as it overtook her, stopping in front and growling. Oh, she was gunna get eaten... She slid on her feet to a stop, her non-athletacism showing it's colors as she fell onto her rear end. She stared at the creature as it stalked closer her eyes trying to find something she could use to beat it away. It was so big! It looked like some sort of dog... "S-stay away," she whimpered, backing up as it came ever closer. She tried to swat at him as he came closer, but only giving him an opportunity to hurt her when she did. She cried out as her hand was bitten. Bringing it close to her, she watched as the creature then bolted away, not understanding anything of it. "What..." She trembled in the dark woods, woods she definitely did not like anymore. "I knew I should have told my parents to vote for the mall..." There wouldn't have been any scary wolf things in a mall. Slowly she stood, blinking as Snooper came out of the bush - having followed them as fast as his little legs could carry him. "Snooper! Pest," she grumbled as he came to her, even as she petted him affectionately. "God, my hand..." It was bleeding fairly badly, nothing that would kill her, but she was getting blood all over her clothes... She picked the dog up, starting to walk with him hoping she'd be able to get out of the woods quickly if she just tried to keep the moon at her back while the night was still young. West was the way you headed for civilization, supposedly. She used a rip of her shirt to wrap her hand, she'd have to get stiches in it when she got back, she thought, looking at it. "Shit... What was that thing..."

Matt made it home rather quickly stopping just inside the treeline to pull his clothes on before strolling in, he sighed when he smelled the food they would be eating. He hurried to the bathroom to wash when he was done the food was on the table, he ate and talked with his parents. Then went to bed unknowing how he had changed Katherine's life with his little fun.

The next day he arrived at school wearing his skater boy outfit as he called it, He had three classes with Katherine First class was History an easy A for him. He sat across from her he waited to talk to her again he liked her though he worried if his fun had been to dangerous last night.

Katherine managed to get home - unfortunately after curfew. With the dog and her hand however, her parents were too worried that she was given enough leeway to escape getting grounded. A bookworm like her though, grounding wouldn't really matter. Sometimes she wondered how well her parents knew her. Her mother being a vet, she checked out Snooper and stiched up her hand before sending Kathy off to bed. Kathy herself just couldn't stop thinking about that beast - what was it?

Her mother insisted on Katherine wearing bandages to school the next morning - better to be safe than sorry against infection, who knew what was under her desk! As she sat down for history, she noticed how much Matt was looking at her, seeming to want to talk to her. With their history teacher's drone and 'no talking' rule, however, that wouldn't happen till after class. She listened to the drone and took her notes, history was one of her not so good subjects, though she didn't know how. She was good in english and math of all combined things. Ask her who the tenth president of the US was or about cellular mitosis and... Well, she was clueless unless she'd studied for it. She didn't know where the information went after her tests.

Matt waited for the teacher to turn to the board before talking, "Hey what happened to your hand?" he knew but he had not known he had bitten her that hard. "Did something happen with the jocks?" he asked even as a member of the team he did not associate with them. He spoke in whispers so as not to alert the teacher to the conversation, a old fear crept up inside him as he tried to dismiss it he couldn't fool his nose so he ignored it for the moment.

"Not really sure, I got lost last night when my dog got out of the yard," she said with a sigh. "It was in the woods... I think it was probably just a tree branch or something catching me..." The giant wolf thing couldn't have been real, after all. She had to have hallucinated. Why did she hallucinate? She didn't know, but t here was no other explanation in her mind. Such a giant creature couldn't exist!
