It was a glorious day; the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the flowers were in full bloom. It was spring, the season of new life; even some of the fellow clan members were expecting. Everything was perfect.

It had been years now, years since this particular group of people had lived amongst others, amongst the 'norms' as the liked to call them. Arfter a decade people like they were able to live in peace once again and even though it may not be to everyone's liking, they managed to live without troubles. These particular people are different from the 'norm', they were cast aside or thrown out onto the streets because they were different; because they could change shape. More specifically, they could shift their human forms into different forms of animals; from lions, to tigers, to bears, to mice. It was to be expected that people treated them differently, nobody likes to accept people who are different, so moving to their own space, to their own village was the smartest move to make. Who knows how many Shifters could still be living amogst the 'norm'? How many hide their identities and lie every single day of their lives? In fact, some prefer to live like this, they choose it. And that choice was a mystery to the villagers, espcially to a particular girl, Faye.

"Faye! Get out there and get Maria some clean water!" Bellowed an older woman's voice from inside a small, wooden hut amongst many others. "Alright! I'm going! Geez, no need to shout, woman!" Though he voice was just as loud. Ducking out of the hut, Faye shook her head, shaking out her hair more then anything before grabbing a dented metel bucket beside the hut with a swift motion before taking a few steps forwards in the direction of the thick wood that surrounded the little Shifter village. In seconds though her body was shrinking, her body turning feral as she sank down onto her hands before they turned into black paws and her skin turned into a bright, firey red fur; her body now that of a fox with the bucket hanging from her mouth. Dashing forwards, Faye disappeared into the trees, her destination the small lake not far from them, the quicker she was, the better.

Ever since she was a child she'd always been told about the other creatures that inhabited the woods; the Lycan's. How they kidnapped Shifters and other wanders before eatting them or slaughtering them. She's always been told horror stories of her ancestors and how they died and she was always warned to be careful when out in teh forest alone, espcially at night.

In minutes, the female Shifter had reached her destination; the lake. The small fox paused at the tree's that lined around the lake and took a look around to make sure she was alone. It seemed like she was. Taking a step out into the open, Faye dropped the bucket from her muzzle before her body started to shift again. She stretched to her feet, now standing only on two legs, her arms stretching over her head with a muffled yawn. The girl just stood there for a moment to glance around and take in the enviroment; it really was beautiful and no matter how many times she saw it, it would never be less pretty.

Faye was an average height, standing at 5'5" and her body type would be lean and athletic; before she left the city she used to take part in a lot of sports at and even after school. It was something she'd always enjoyed. She had black, layered hair that reached just below her shoulders, her skin was pale like porcelain, a complete contrast to the colour of her hair and her eyes were a bright blue. She was currently dressed in a pair of tight blue jeans, a plain black tank top and a pair of flat black shoes.

Heavy, panting breaths escaped past the grinning young man’s lips. His feet pounded over the earth, moving quick to escape his pursuer. It was this game of chase that he most often enjoyed, running from the girl that had been his destined mate since birth. Feeling her nails rake ever so gently over his side, she almost caught him, but he whipped around, laughing like a lunatic, and flexed his abs and threw his shoulders back.

These were the features she liked most on him, and his smirk broadened as her eyes widened in hunger. There were no boundaries for the two; they were to be wed this spring, and he had already lain with her many a time in the grassy valleys below their mountain home.

Her voice was sweetest when nothing more than a gasp in his ear, a breath against his sweat slickened shoulder. She was in love with him, and he...

“Stop.” A command voiced by her mate was not to be ignored. Jaclyn slowed immediately, keeping her hands to herself despite the desire to allow them freedom to roam over Matthew’s back. For a man of no more than twenty, he had a lot of scars from a lot of fights. Her particular favorite was the one that had almost killed him, right on the junction of his neck and shoulder. Just knowing that the male she was to wed could get out of a scrap that bad with his life was enough to pride herself on. She would never have to worry about the safety of her family.

Matthew licked his lips and cast her a glance over his shoulder. “Stay here.” He could smell a rat. Those damn vermin didn’t know how to keep to their own territory, never had. The lake belonged to his people. It was Lycan land and marked with Matthew’s scent amongst others in his pack.

Two piercing gray eyes locked on the woman as he descended the slope. Rocks clattered down, making a racket, but he had no fear of making his presence known. Catching her would be no trouble at all.

“I would have thought your kind would have figured it out by now!” Matthew boomed, kicking aside some low brush as he stalked past a cluster of oaks. “To keep your filthy selves away from this area.”

Faye had knelt to collect water, her hands holding either side of the metel bucket as she dipped it in to allow the lake water to run into the item with ease. Her bright eyes watched as she silently waited for it to fill near enough to the brim before she began to tug it out, standing on her feet so that she could use her weight to tug the full bucket out of the lake. That's when the noise of crumbling rocks caught her attention and she quickly lowered the bucket to the ground before standing straight and glancing around silently, trying not to panic. She knew it wouldn't be possible for her to escape if she had to tug the bucket along, but she wasn't just about to take whatever orders she was given laying down and she refused to give up and go out without a fight.

The woman stood still, frozen to the spot at the deep, gruff voice of a male echoed around her and the once beautiful enviroment was clouded with a tense atmosphere. The dark haired girl remained silent as the male came into view and she tensed, glaring at him defensively. "This lake doesn't belong to you. If we need the water, we'll take it." It probably wasn't a great idea, provoking the scared male. Trying to swallow, to get rid of the lump that had began to swell in her throat, she glanced around for a second; he appeared to be alone.

Slowly, Faye lowered to grab the bucket with both her hands, her bright blue eyes focased on the male the whole time. It would be a mistake to take her eyes off him.
