Red stomped his way irately through the woods towards his grandmother's house on the far side of the shade's break forest with look of deep agitation ingrained onto his face. It never failed to amaze him how he could set foot in his home village for a single moment and by some miracle or perception beyond the understanding of man his Nanna knew he was there and had a note waiting for a delivery of a number of herbs to her house both amazed and agitated him at the same damn time. For the most part since Red was old enough to leave he roved the lands amplifying his knowledge of medicine and herbs for both the satisfaction of helping those who needed it and feeding his own hunger for his trade, and to be honest his Nanna was the reason for his love of medicine in the first place so there wasn't getting around making the delivery for his own sense of honor. There was more than one occasion where a lands lord and few rare cases where kings had offered Red the chance to live his life in their castle for the sole purpose of serving as their healer, but even when he was young it was his prerogative to rove, and thus he found it impossible to find any one place to settle for more than a few weeks. Though it had been easy to find most of what his Nanna had asked him to gather it seemed as time passed she asked for one or two rarer items that didn't occur in the area, and so far no matter which lands he traveled he made sure to keep a small stock of those rare plants in the case he might ever need them. While it was amazing that she always knew when he was ranging home he knew her well enough to know she wasn't tracking his every steps, but a small smile spread across his face at the idea that she wasn't simply asking for these things but also testing his knowledge on the art and just how advanced he was becoming.
The path he took was a familiar one, well worn through the thick forest and though there were many who cursed these very woods for harboring creatures of the dangerous and magical variety Red hand never witnessed a single instance that put paid to those words. The only thing that was mystical and strange in these woods was his Nanna, and even though she preferred her solitude she was a caring parent in the absence of his own during his youth. To this day he still wears the deep crimson cloak and hood that is his namesake, and remembered fondly when she told him why his name was thus. It was simply because the day she found him he was wrapped in a silken red cloth that covered him, and seemed fitting enough for the quite baby he was in his youth. Though it grated on his nerves that she always had a shopping list waiting in town when he visited, he wasn't in any way unhappy about seeing her giving the time he had been away. He wrapped the cloak closer around him as he adjusted the small pack on his back and continued, the hood always up just and his eyes closed with his ears opened to the sounds of the birds and woods in early summer growth Red easily made his way towards the small cottage without worry.
