The initial colonization of Gliese 581d had finally been completed several months ago. Five large habitats with living quarters, research labs, and a small security force were spread over the planet. The scientists and their support personnel were finally settled in and beginning their work of exploring the planet and determining what they could discover.

Out on the rocky surface of the planet Callum sweated in his suit under the intense heat. Wishing the claims that he'd be comfortable no matter what the conditions were to be true he got back to work. Running the excavating equipment he guided the remote driller further into the narrow cave hoping to break into what appeared to be a sealed cavern by the end of the day. He had been hounded the past week to get this done because of so called "interesting" readings that the satellites were picking up from there.

Many eons ago, this planet had an unnatural heat that made living extremely difficult to live on. Throughout the course of time, a new breed of species developed and had the ability to withstand the extreme heat and had gutted out the middle of the planet and built a civilization inside. Although, throughout the time this species lived here, a strange thing or what seemed like a meteor crashed down onto the plant leaving many to wonder what exactly its purpose was of being there. Over time, this meteor omitted pheromones of a strange chemical which enhanced the species brain waves. In conclusion, these species are more deadly because of their telekinetic power.

Inside the sealed cavern, Eleanor traveled through the paved streets in search of a way to waster her time. She couldnt help but think of her mothers words that she heard yesterday, "This world is coming to an end. I can feel it in my old bones that something will happen and this whole civilization will fall." She wasnt much for believing her mother because she was a drunk but the words seemed to haunt her. As she reach closer to the town cemetery, She heard the faint sound of what seemed like drilling. Stopping in her tracks, she stood and listened to the noise. The noise grew louder and louder and as she looked up, she was staring into the face of a man in a strange suit.

The feedback from the drill told him that it was close to breaking through into the cavern. Callum didn't believe that anything too interesting would be in there. So far he had explored several caverns but found nothing except an occasional small deposit of some gem or mineral, nothing significant though. The sounds of rock tumbling and increased roar from the driller told him it had finally broken through the rock wall. Moving down the cave he backed the drill up to make room for him to visually inspect the cavern not trusting the video equipment on the driller. Peering into the cavern he was shocked. Callum was starring straight into the face of a humanoid being and though he was unable to look away he got the sense of an entire city before him from his peripheral vision.

Taken aback by the strange man staring at her, she stumbled back a few feet. Eleanor cocked her head to the side and moved closer to the creature she was nearly face to face with. With each step she took, her green eyes pierced deeper into the face mask of the suit as she tried to see his face. In a matter of seconds she was nearly close enough to where she could reach out and touch him. Her fingers trailed along the contours of the face mask and her look went from motherly to infuriated. Taking a few steps back, she stared at Callum and he was pulled through the hole he drilled and held up in the air. Running her hands through her long brown hair, Eleanor walked closer to Callum, who was still suspended in the air. "What are you doing here?" Her voice was something of a bittersweet melody, alluring but deadly.

Watching in shock as the creature stumbled away from him then slowly came closer Callum adjusted his visor, lightening it so he could see better in the cavern. Staring into her green eyes as she got closer he tried to reach out but was unable to move. As he wondered what was happening he found himself being pulled through the hole and suspended in the air by some unseen force. Hearing her voice he was puzzled he could understand her and was unable to answer immediately. Watching as she ran her hands through her hair he knew that his life was currently in her hands. "I'm....I was sent to explore this cavern" he answered shakily.

Slowly, Callum was lowered to the ground and she stood in front him, "Who sent you?" Her voice wasnt as deadly, but almost worried. Eleanor was a petite girl, so looking up fully at Callum she was slightly terrified. Reaching out a hand, she fiddled with the mask he was wearing. Noticing his panic, she shushed him, "Inside here, the temperature is not so hot. Your silly suit is not necessary." She examined the suit that was strange to her and tossed it aside. "Will you answer my question?" she asked with such politeness.

He felt a temporary relief as he was placed back on the ground. Looking down at the small girl he began to answer her but when she reached for his mask Callum tried to stop her but the unseen force held him again and she told him he would be safe. Once she had removed his mask and suit he stood watching as she tossed it aside carelessly. Feeling rather vulnerable standing before her in what was little more than underwear, a light and form fitting shirt and shorts, he nodded his head. "I was sent by my superiors to see what was in this cavern. They got some readings from it and hoped there would be something here to help us colonize this planet" he said hesitantly.

She looked him over slowly and walked closer to him, pressing her body into his. Her attire was thin, like medical gauze that seemed to only cover her breast and a slight bit of the lower half of her body. Eleanor stayed close to him and stared into his eyes, "You're superiors are nothing more than fascists pigs. This planet has long been colonized. Im sure you see that." Her words came out smooth and she gestured at the area around them. "If you feel this planet still needs colonizing then you are certainly mistaken. This is no place for the likes of your superiors." She locked her eyes onto his and stepped back a few feet. Callum's suit that was a mere 10 or so feet away was lifted into the air and brought back to them by unseen forces. "If you wish to stay, feel free to, but do not make a mockery of our kind. If you wish to leave, then do so, but the next time one of you comes in here it will be off with their head." She spoke the last sentence with such venom that she could feel her hands shake. Eleanor turned on her heels and sashayed a few feet away. Looking back, she stopped and waited for a response from Callum.

Standing there he watched her come closer and press her petite body to his. Her thin minimal clothing let him feel the details of her body. Callum felt his heart beat faster in excitement even though his mind was confused by the different ways she had presented herself. Lost in her green eyes he listened to her tell him the planet was settled and didn't need others on it. When his suit was dropped in front of him and she told him he could stay or leave he stared silently at her a few feet away, noting the emotion in her voice. With a small cough Callum cleared his throat..."If I stay what will become of me?" he asked curious as to what place he could have in this society.

Crossing her arms behind her back, she leaned back on her heels, "If you wish you stay you would become a member of our society. Once you choose to stay, you cannot go back to what you once had before. We cannot risk having our society fall at the hands of something so cruel." Eleanor stepped closer to him and reached out to touch his hand. She trailed her fingertips along the contours of his hand and then she entangled her hand in his. Her green eyes pierced into his eyes once more and she was silent, all words seemed to escape her. "What are you?" her voice was soft, almost a whisper as she continued to try and analyze Callum.

He listened to the woman and wondered if he really wanted to stay and join her society here. There was little he would be giving up as he had joined this expedition due to having nobody and nothing back on Earth to keep him there. Looking down at her Callum smiled watching as she stepped closer and traced her fingers over his hand. "I'm a human...we're from a planet many light-years away" he replied softly as he enjoyed the soft touch of her skin on his as he entwined her hand in his. "And I'd like to stay here" he said in little more that a hushed whisper. Staring into her green eyes he felt it was the right choice.

She smiled up at him and looked away, "I am not human.. unfortunately. Here, we are a species called Dyclonious." She dropped her head and her hair hung around her face, exposing small horns on each sides of her head. "Those horns you see are a genetic mutation. We have a talent not many other species have. The ability of telekinesis, or whatever you humans call it." Eleanor lifted her head and smiled at him once more, "From what i heard, you want to stay here. Let me show you around." Tugging on his hand, she led him down towards the town. "By the way, My name is Eleanor. We never properly introduced out selves."

Callum watched as she bent her head and showed him the small horn like bumps on the sides of her head. Dyclonious he thought to himself trying to recall if he had ever heard the name before. However he was quickly distracted when she said her species was telekinetic. Hundreds of questions raced through his mind but when she smiled and introduced herself he blushed ashamed he hadn't told her his yet, or thought to. "My name's Callum" he said letting him lead her to town. His eyes looked around trying to pick out what details he could.

Eleanor motioned around to different areas of the city rambling on about the history and what exactly it was. In her head, a million questions raced through her head about his life on earth but she decided to hold off on the questions. Stopping in front of one of the restaurant, she looked up at him, "Are you hungry. Because i'm hungry." She lead him into the restaurant and took a seat at a near by table. "So i'll make you a deal with you. How about after lunch, We exchange questions?" Her voice was quizzical.

As they walked Callum tried to take in everything she was saying about the town and her species history. However it was too much and he was quickly lost and overwhelmed by the extent of her civilization and how they had adapted to this planet. Suddenly he found himself pulled to a stop in front of what appeared to be a restaurant from the smells drifting out of the entrance. "I could eat a bit" he said cautiously curious as to what the food was. Sitting across from her at the table he smiled softly looking her eyes. "That sounds like a deal Elanor" he replied. "You should probably order for me" he said looking around at the decor as the server noticed them and walked over to their table.

With a nod, she smiled and reluctantly pulled her eyes away from him to look over at the server. She spoke quick but the server wrote down everything she said and was off in a hurry. She looked back at him, "I ordered us some tea as beverage and a little bit of chicken. A lot of the foods we have we get from Earth." Eleanor smiled triumphantly at her knowledge of where the food originated. Just as soon as he left, the server came back with a black tea set with a intricate design of the river painted into it. Eleanor poured some tea into a cup for Callum and she slid it over to him, "Our planet is know it have the most exquisite tea in the galaxy." Again, another triumphant smile spread across her lips. The server was right back with a tray of what looked like sesame chicken. She couldn't help herself and picked up her fork and began to eat while she finished pouring herself some tea.

A brief look of shock passed over Callum's face as she said much of their food came from Earth. However as the server brought their tea and Eleanor poured him a cup he remembered that one of the reasons this planet had been chosen for a colony was it's location along a shipping route. Taking this information in silence he examined the intricate design on the cup as he sipped at the tea. Smiling over at her Callum nodded his head slowly. "Well I have to agree...that's probably the best tea I've tasted" he said watching her begin to eat. He felt rather bulky and clumsy as he watched the petite girl noting the smooth and fluid way she moved. "Is the chicken as good as it smells?" he asked while helping himself to some.

Looking up at him through her side bangs, she smiled, "Very much so! You should know these things. It comes from your planet, Callum." She said his name sweetly and almost adoringly. They finished eating in silence and she scooted her chair back, "Would you like to go back to my house and finish having our discussion or see the rest of the town?" Her voice was slightly low when she said this so nosey eavesdroppers wouldnt hear her question. The server slipped her the bill and she paid it right back just as quickly and stood up. She grabbed Callum's arm and walked outside.

He grinned and felt his cheeks warm as he blushed in embarrassment. "Yeah I should. Guess I never payed that much attention to certain things" he said softly finding the way she said his name to be exciting. Callum finished and thought about her question as she paid and gently led him back outside. Leaning down to whisper in her ear as they passed a small crowd of people that did a poor job hiding their glances at him, he finally answered her. "Lets go back to your house. We can talk more privately and you can finish giving me the tour later" Holding her hand softly in his he let her lead him back to her house.

She smiled softly and blushed slightly. Squeezing his hand, she led him the a large apartment building. Eleanor opened the door and led Callum into the elevator. Leaning into him, she stood around patiently as the elevator took them up to the 12 floor. As the door open, she led him down the hall to room 5. She put the keys in the lock and pushed the door open. Closing the door behind him, she motioned to the couch. Her apartment was a victorian style with a color skyme of maroon and black. Eleanor sat down on the couch and patted the space next to her.

Callum followed closely as they made their way to her apartment. His eyes constantly drifting from the surroundings back to her. As they entered he was struck by the classic look of her apartment and sat wordlessly next to her on the couch. Turning to look at Eleanor he smiled as his body was close to hers. "So what do you want to know?" he asked in little more than a whisper.

Eleanor stared into his eye speechless. This was the first time Eleanor had ever brought another man back to her apartment, most would have rejected her for something far more interesting. A smile slowly spread across her face and she leaned in close to him. Her face was inches away from his and she slowed her breathing. "I want you to tell me about your life back on earth." She said in little more than a whisper.

Returning her gaze Callum could feel how close she was to him and his heart beat slightly faster as she leaned in and whispered to him. Slowly reaching out he grasped her hands in his and began to tell of his life on Earth. "There's not much to tell..at least I don't think there is" He then started to tell her everything he remembered about his life beginning with his erratic childhood, moving constantly as his father chased one crazy opportunity after another. Then how his mother got sick and died when he was little more than 10 yrs old and his fathers resulting mental break down. It was hard to talk about and he quickly glossed over his adolescence in government homes and schools before finally joining this expedition.

She pressed a hand to his face and traced the curve of his jaw, "I understand that must be really tragic for you. Im terribly sorry for your lose." Eleanor pressed her forehead against his and slowed her breathing. They sat like that for some time and she pulled back and looked at him, "Is there anything you would like to ask me?" Her voice was quiet and the room had a peaceful silence she was afraid of breaking.

Callum leaned against her hand as she pressed her forehead to his. After awhile he smiled softly. "Thanks...I'm ok though" his voice light as he looked at her. "Why did you offer me a chance to stay here?" he asked curious. There were so many things he was wondering about but he felt a need to know why she hadn't made him leave.
