It was raining sheets, coming down cats and dogs it seemed. The rain was just pouring down in a torrent as the streets of Neo Metro, the so-called City of the Future. Blues, greens, yellows, reds, and purples of neon lights glowed in the darkness of night as the shops usually active at night closed up and people took cover in night clubs, bars, restaurants, wherever they could find.

Rafe slowly opened his eyes, huddled up next to a garbage dumpster, trying to shield himself from the rain. This was his first memory. He had little more than a light cloth jacket and some shorts to his name. This was all he knew...his earliest memory. He whimpered a bit as this frightening knowledge came to his mind. He was dirty and his short, silvery hair was mottled with grime and dust. Bright green eyes pleaded for help.

But deep inside this innocent facade, there lay darker knowledge. He became aware of a need. A desire. Flesh. A hunger for soft, fresh, sweet young flesh. Not to consume, but to mate with, a consumption of a different kind. He had a burning need to do something terrible to something young, busty, and fertile.

Alexis shivered slightly as she made her way down the empty street, occasionally glancing up past her umbrella. It had been raining all day now....if this were any other city then there would probably be near floods running down the streets by this point...well, fortunately this wasn't just any city, it was the most advanced city in the world. Built from scratch to be the pinnacle of human technology and civilization, everything was perfectly controlled by a network of computers, monitored closely by human overseers. "Just wish they could do something about the rain....even with my umbrella I'm getting soaked...." The young 20 year old sighed and shook her head, then continued her walk back towards her apartment building, though as she passed a relatively dimly lit alleyway something caught her eye. "Hm?"

She stopped, glancing into the alleyway and blinking. She caught a glimpse of some kind of...reflection? She took a step closer into the alley, seemingly unafraid. After all, there was no crime, not in this city. As she got closer she saw the source of what she was seeing, light reflecting from silver hair, atop a young man sat huddled in the alleyway. "Oh my god!" She gasped, then rushed over, kneeling down infront of him. "Hey, hey are you ok? Oh god you look terrible..." His eyes....they were bright, contrasting with the rest of him, covered in dirt. "Oh my....what happened?" There weren't any homeless people in this city, how had he ended up like this? Had he somehow made his way past the controls of the city limits? No...no that was impossible. He had to be from within the city, but something must have happened. Alexis smiled softly, feeling a strong compulsion to help the boy, at least until they could figure out where he needed to be. "Come on" She gently took hold of Rafe's arm, motioning for him to stand with her. "I'll take you back to my apartment. I have a spare bedroom. We'll get you cleaned up and you can spend the night somewhere warm and dry, then we can figure out what's happened to you k?"

Rafe looked at her with need. He looked like a lost and frightened stray that needed a home, that needed her understanding and care. Yes, he needed her. And his instincts told him to act docile and helpless, but inside his heart was pumping and racing. Even in this rain, since she was so close, he could smell her scent wafting on the soft wind. It told him all he needed to know about her, age, gender (in case such a thing was in doubt), fertility, what she was thinking, her health, even, to a degree, her generally psychology. It was still confusing, but Rafe knew that she would keep him safe and for now, that was enough. When she extended her hand to him, he slowly took it and pulled himself up next to her, trying to cower as much as he could under her umbrella as they walked. Some technology was so pinnacle at what it did, there was little room for advancement.

Rafe's predicament, if he even knew about it, was indeed puzzling. There were no homeless, if one could not afford a home or apartment, cheap and affordable public housing was an option and a civil service job was available to the unemployed, the two often going hand in hand. There was no crime, strict controls, education to the young against crime, constant street patrols, and harsh government crack downs practically eliminated crime, making it assured that any criminal would not get far and would have a very uncomfortable future. There were no mentally disturbed, the advances in medicine had all but stopped mental and physical disease and defect. So what was a healthy, employed, homed citizen of Neo Metro doing here in the rain next to a dumpster in this state?

Rafe looked up at her as they walked, again doing his best to look confused (which he was), frightened, and in need of her. Instinct told him to act as such. "Rafe..." He said softly, the only word he seemed able to vocalize.
