Jack pushed the back from his neck up on his head, adjusting the sun glasses too. He was in full uniform, being on duty. Though being the Sheriff of the small town, he had as much free time as he needed, and he had put aside enough time to pick up his Niece once she arrived with the next Greyhound. The desert colored uniform fitting his muscular body nicely as he stood in a posture, his legs spread at a 60 degree angle as he watched the bus appear in the distance.

He had made preparations for her arrival, though some might disagree with his way of handling the young troublemaker, but he knew it would make sure she stayed out of trouble. Fear was a way for him to work with the local youths as he had caught many in the act, interfeering with what happened. And now, he had talked with his brother about her, heard why she was being transferred to the small, local school.

He was excited, though it didn't show as he stood next to the patrol car. He was almost fourty, though it didn't show him as much more than thirty, his posture and status making him much calmer towards other people. He was muscular too, working out on a daily base and doing daily runs to keep in shape, he had to be a good rolemodel for the town after all.

Tabitha fought tooth and nail to avoid coming to this hell hole. "It doesn't even have a mall!" She screamed at her parents when the booted her on the train. They called her a trouble maker, but it wasn't her fault that everybody was just so damn annoying, that school was boring or. She shook her head. Stupid fucking town.

The thirteen year old girl crossed and uncrossed her legs as she sat on in the little cart that would bring her to hell. That about summed up the little desert town she'd be ugh, living at the next few weeks. She stared out the window to see the empty landscape. Her own reflection caught her eye. Long auburn hair in a single french braid, and hazel eyes that almost looked gold. She was a slender girl, something like a sapling tree. Her mother always said "Slender as a willow" thought Tabitha thought that was a mom way of saying "Flat"

When the train stopped she put on her sunglasses to avoid the glare of the sun, from what she understood. Her Uncle was top pig of this sty. "Goodly" she rolled her eyes as she stepped onto the platform.

Seeing the train rolling in on the small station, Jack loosened up a bit, walking towards the train in long strides while pulling out the picture of his niece. He had it memorized, but it worked easier for him to just pull it out as he noticed her stepping off the train with her luggage. "Good afternoon, Tabitha." He said as he got closer, giving her a friendly smile as he moved to pick up her suitcases, lifting them easily. "Come, the car's just around the station building." He said, nodding for her to follow him. He was sure she fitted his sister-in-law's description of her.

He didn't seem to talk much until they got around to the car as he put the luggage in the trunk, moving to the driver's side. "Let's get in and get home, we've got some stuff to talk about, haven't seen you in a few years." He said, giving her a familiar smirk as he got into the car, waiting for her before pulling off.

"Just a bit" As to his not seeing her in a few years comment. She kept her eyes wandering around the city streets as she walked to his patrol car. "Hey this is the first time I've been upfront in one of these things" She said dryly as he opened the door for her and she slid in the seat. "So what is there to do in this place?" she tugged on the collar o her blouse. It was far to hot and sticky here and she didn't like it one bit already.

Grinning, Jack nodded as he pulled off with her, deciding to give her a round in the small town. "Well, there's a diner for starters. They're looking for young employees preferably females. So if you want to work for money then that's the place." He begun, letting one hand out of the open window as he pointed to the diner they passed along with the recruiting sign at the front door. "Other than that, there's the sports section of the school, they practice three to four times a week. We have a small cinema, and a few shops. But if you want a mall, you'll have to talk with me because it's twenty miles to the next town where they have one." He finished, the tour didn't take long as they passed a few shops, one of clothes, an electronics and a general store. After that, it was only a short way to the house.

Pulling up on the curb in front of it, Jack got out first. "Well, this is my palace." He said, moving to get her luggage as he headed towards the front door. "It's a bit crammed, so your bedroom is right next to mine, there's only one bathroom with a toilet." He explained. "So rules are, closed door means no entry, open door means available." He said quickly, putting a bag down to unlock the door and let her in. He was somewhat glad that until she'd mess up, he'd have cable TV for her entertainment.

"You're kidding me" Tabitha stared blankly "No wonder I'm here. I can't get in trouble in a town that doesn't exist" she mumbled, grimacing at the diner. Though she could always get a job there and get the bus money to get the fuck out of this place. She blew a strand of hair out of her face as the car stopped.

His house was like nothing she was use to, it was so. Country. She shuddered. The hem of her skirt swaying. Well at least she enjoyed the chance to stretch her legs. "So is that it? The bathroom rule?"

"That's the bathroom rule." Jack nodded once inside. It was plain, almost spartan with no pictures besides a family portrait hanging in the livingroom. No flowers, no nothing. He simply didn't have the time as he moved to put her luggage in the spare room. In fact, there was pretty much only a small kitchen, small livingroom with a dining table, the bathroom and the two bedrooms. As well as the door to the basement. "And if you get any friends and want them over, there's three rules. "No alcohol. No sex. And absolutely no males." He told her, having to make sure she understood it clearly. "Now, I only have to answer the phone if there's an emergency, so is there anything else you need to know before I take a round in town?" He asked her, knowing it was still a few days until the school opened for the students in the small town.
