The Bond Between Twins

Braithe slowed his pickup and came to a stop outside his sister's house. She'd called him early this morning after the floor of her lounge room and dining room/kitchen vanished, along with the dividing wall between them. It seemed her landlord hadn't been properly maintaining his property and it had deteriated rapidly, beams underneath the floor boards rotting out and collapsing.

Jumping out, he looked out of place next to the huge Silverado. Being only 5'6, it had made for an amusing choice of vehicle, but he bought it for functionality over anything else. "Hey, Brook!" he called out to his twin, "Brookelle! Your removalist is here!"

Walking slowly to the front door, he pushes it open and looks inside at the missing front lounge room, "Jeeze, you weren't wrong when you said it was a 15 foot drop. Lucky for you that you had that little bit of floor left beside your stairs so you can get out the back door." he says as his eyes roam across the trashed furniture and electronics. "Shit, Dad won't be happy that your huge TV is fucked. I know how much he paid for it, I was the one who had to help him bring it here for you while you were asleep... Your landlord better be paying to repair or replace the broken stuff. If he doesn't, you can take him to court. It is all damaged because he didn't look after the building. He's lucky it wasn't the floor for the bedroom."

Brookelle was already down the back stairs by the time her brother got to the top of the front. She rolled her eyes as she listened to him ramble on about it all, like she didn't know that. She heaved her bags in the back of his truck. Before turning to go retrieve her brother, she look at the truck and shook her head. How was she going to get into that thing? She was just as tall as her brother but way less coordinated than he was. With a sigh she turned to head back up to the top of the front where her brother stood. She snuck-up behind him as quietly as she could before lightly flicking the back of his head and smirking.

"Yes dearest brother I know all of that. Oh and it's nice to see you too. I'm doing fine, no I'm not hurt or anything," she said with another roll of her eyes. She crossed her arms over her chest. "The landlord said he'd pay for the repairs of everything. The building and anything that was damaged. He's also paying to the inspection to make sure everything else is up to date and that nothing like this will happen again. I'm not having to pay a cent. Now can we go?" she asked as she leaned in past him, closed the front door, and locked it. "Also, where's my hug?"

Letting out a surprised yelp, and then almost falling into the gaping maw that used to be the loungeroom, he grabbed the door frame and whirled around to glare at her, "Hey! I nearly fell in there!" he says, stepping away from the edge, and then smiled and wrapped his arms around her, "He wouldn't have had to be fixing all of this if he hadn't been a tightwad in the first place and regularly had the place looked over, so he's having to pay more now for what could have been a cheaper thing 5 or more years ago. Anyway, enough rambling, and back to the truck. Did you want me to play monkey and get upstairs, grab anything in there you got that's worth anything? You won't be allowed back here until the building inspectors say the building is safe."

He smiled to her gently, admiring how well she'd grown in the last few months. She'd always been his attractive twin, but her attitude since she'd moved out had changed. She may not have seen any difference, but her entire air was better, more warm and welcoming. "For dinner tonight you don't mind if we just have pizza do you? Tomorrow is usually the day I do my shopping."

"Oh please! Like I would have let you fall in!" she said with a giggle. "Though that little girly scream of yours was all worth it, I have to tell you," she told him as she tightly hugged him back. It was good to see her brother again. It felt like it had been forever, especially since they used to see each other every day. Not seeing him was quite the change. But it was a needed change. Everyone needed to grow up and being on her own had helped her to do some of that. Even if she wasn't the best at picking out places to live.

"I know he should have kept the building in better condition, I'm not defending him because I know I could have been hurt. But because he didn't, look what it's getting? It's replacing some of my older stuff plus three months rent free. So just chill. And no, anything and everything that's important or worth anything I grabbed and is now in the back of your truck. Which really? Why do you need that thing? It's huge and I wont be able to get in it..." she said to him with a slight pout on her face.

Brookelle tilted her head to the side when she heard his request for dinner. She shrugged and nodded. "Pizza is fine. I haven't had pizza in a while. But I think I should go with you tomorrow when you go shopping. You don't always make the healthiest choices," she said with a smirk as she patted her brothers stomach. But before he could grab her to do anything she rushed down the steps and towards the chuck. It was good to be near him again.

"Girly scream? I would like to see any other sound come out when faced with a 15 foot drop onto sharp, jagged, broken things." he says, a little annoyed and then nods as she speaks about having everything she needed. "I have it because I need the power and weight of it for work. You've seen the size of some of the cars I've had to pull with it." he retorts, "And you will be able to get in, I just have to help you since you seem to enjoy falling in a very unladylike manner when you do it alone." he jabs back to her, "I don't have the falling problem."

Grabbing her waist, he makes a show of lifting her up to get into it, and then blinks before turning away red-faced when he spots her underwear, "Uhm Don't wear something that short unless you are planning to not get into this, please. I... uhm well... Nice view for a moment there." he says, somewhat embarassed by it, but not making a huge deal of it, just trying to make it into a little joke.

Brookelle slowly climbs into her seat, blushing as well. Of course he was right, she should wear something more appropriate. Especially around her brother. But then, did that mean she had to change everything she wore around him? Different pajamas? No short skits? No low-cut shits? That wasn't really okay with her. They'd just have to get used to it while she was living with him. "Well you know, you could have looked away like a gentleman would have! Are you forgetting everything mom and dad taught you just because you don't live with them anymore? Maybe I should send you back to them while my place is being repaired!" she said extremely flustered. She wasn't mad at him, just embarrassed.

Slowly she closed the trucks door and buckled her seat belt, quietly waiting for him to get in and start driving. This was something she rarely ever was, quiet. But what else could she do while she tried to calm herself down after that little fiasco? She took in a deep breath, rested her head on the headrest, and closed her eyes. She could do this. They used to do this all the time. They just had to get back into the swing of things.

Frowning to her, he just shrugged and went to the driver's door and climbed up into the truck, "Well, I didn't mean to see, nor did I expect it to ride up a little as I lifted you. I looked away as soon as I realized it was happening. You can wear what you like, I won't stop that, just if you want to wear thigns that short, don't plan to get in here without help. If I could see it, who knows who else could?" he grumbles, and then gives her a smile, "Still, I can't say you don't have a nice body, even if I saw more than I intended to ever see of it."

Pulling away from the curb, he shrugs it all off and heads back to his place, "I have a new job too, a side thing with the owner of the small complex I live in. They have a policy of no parking unless it's on tar or cement, or in the garages. My rent is made cheaper each time someone parks on the grass. I get to tow them away." he says with a laugh, "He even cemented the pointless 4 foot by 8 foot grassed area beside my house. because this doesn't fit in the garage. The live in care taker hated the idea of it, but then, he admits that since I started hooking up the tow mechanism and towing the grass parkers that it's dropped down in occurance."

She nodded a bit as she listened to him talk about his work and his side job. She didn't see what was so fun about driving around and towing cars for work. But if he enjoyed it and it paid the bills then who was she to judge it? After all, it's not like she had to do it. As she calmed down she turned to look at him a bit. He really hadn't done anything wrong and he was sorry about it. He hadn't tried to see that, it just happened. Some things just happened.

Feeling bad for having snapped at him, and so soon of him picking her up, she lightly placed her hand on his leg and smiled back at him. "I know you didn't mean to and I'm really sorry for snapping like that. You know me though, when I'm embarrassed I just go into self defense mode. Forgive me?" she asked with the small pout again. She really did love her brother and hated when they got in little fits like that. "Besides, we can't start this whole thing off on the wrong foot! We have to have some fun tonight! What do you suggest we do in order to achieve that?" she asked with a big smile, her face lite up with excitement.

Getting his teasing grin he got whenever he was about to make some crude joke purely to make his twin blush, he put his hand on hers before speaking. "Dunno, maybe I could show you as much of me as I saw of you?" he laughs out, "Seriously though, a night in would be good. Maybe some movies to go with the pizza? For shits and giggles maybe truth or dare?" he suggests, just throwing out random ideas as he turned the last corner, the complex coming into sight. "What do you want to do in the mean time, we still have all day. If you want to go out, we can chuck your stuff in the spare room, you change out of the skirt unless you think I deserve more views up it, and then head down and hit up a few stores. Might even do the groceries early, but we still have pizza for dinner tonight since you already agreed."

coming to a stop, he jumped out and came around to the passenger side, "Want a hand down? Or think you can jump it?" he teased, "You are looking a little short up there?"

Brookelle gave his leg a quick squeeze and a little smack before pulling away and loosely folding her arms over her chest. "You really haven't changed much have you? Then again, it is you we're talking about," she said and stuck her tongue out at him. "A good old fashioned movie night huh? Sounds perfect! It'll be nice to have a 'sleepover' with my darling brother," she said teasingly. Carefully she moved herself down so she was sitting on the floor of the truck, making the ground just that much closer. "As for the rest of the day? I don't know. You're going to know this area better than I am. What fun is there to be had?" she asked with a small tilt of her head as she looked down at him. She rolled her eyes, ignoring all his teasing. "Yeah yeah yeah...just give me your hand so I can get out of this thing, would ya?" she asked reaching her hand out for him to grab.

Laughing a little and reaching up, he helps Brook down, before going over and unlocking the front door. "Well, for fun there isn't that much close by, I still go into the shopping complexes for entertainment, to the cinema, game arcades, that sorta thing. Anything else, I just drive to it. I don't expect any fun things close to here. Price I pay for living where I can look in the window of a nice girl who insists on showering with her window and blinds in her bathroom wide open." he says, pointing to the now open loungeroom of the house over the road, a huge painting in the renaissance style of a woman bathing.

Brookelle grabbed her bags before following her brother to his apartment, bumping him in the side with her hip. "No thanks, really, I got it. No need to ask if I need any help with my things," she said sarcastically. Once the front door was open she dropped her things to the side of the inside of the door and looking at the painting across the road. "Oh sweetie, please tell me that that's not the only action you've been seeing lately?" she asked with a small giggle, her hand covering her mouth to stop more giggles from escaping. Taking in a deep breath to stop the giggle she shrugged and headed inside his apartment, plopping herself down onto the couch. "But as for the fun, I'm almost up for anything. But considering we're going to have that movie night later on this evening, I think we should rule going to the cinema out. But speaking of driving, is there any pretty sights around here? We could go for a drive and just go for a walk, enjoy the fresh air, and catch up a bit. You know, like we used to do. We used to tell each other everything," she reminded him, still waiting for him to come in and join her.

Shrugging, he turned and gave her ass a pat as she passed him, "You did fine getting it to the truck while I was at your door." he says, and then shakes his head, "No, only the last 4 years since I had a girlfriend." he says without an real concern about it, "But she isn't a bad image to wake up to, or even get drunk and actually think it's a real person."

Walking into his lounge room, he makes a show of jumping up and down on the floor before continuing over to the couch, "We can go for a drive if you like, I know somewhere with some unbelievable views. Only problem is you don't look down while you look out the window, and we can talk as we drive."

"A drive sounds amazing then. You know me, I'm not easily scared by that sort of thing. Not when I have you for a brother," she said mockingly. She stuck her tongue out at him as he jumped up and down on the floor, proving that his floors were stable. "You can tease me all you want about the floors but fact is that none of that was my fault. No chip off my shoulder," she told him while standing up. She walked over to him, putting her face close to his. "At least I've seen a little more action than you have lately. You seriously need to get out more dear, especially if the thing you're having to get off to is a painted picture of a renaissance woman bathing," she said with a smirk before kissing his cheek and poking his chest. With that she turned for the door and headed for the truck again. "Come on slow poke! Let's get a move on!" she called to him before trying to figure out a way to place her feet in order to climb into his monster of a truck without his help. Of course she was unsuccessful.

Shaking his head as he walked to the pick up, he smirked, "Rushing did you no good, Brook. Would you like a hand again?" he asks, stepping up beside her, "I really should put the side steps on. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow." he adds quietly before grabbing her hips again. "Ready? Too bad if you're not." he laughs as he lifts her up quite quickly, and then shuts the door before jogging round to the other side and clambering in. "Alrighty. Off to the mountain side where only four wheel drives are allowed."

As they leave the complex, he pulls in to a small store quickly and runs inside, coming back out with a couple of cold drinks each for both of them. Finally pulling away from the city itself, he drives up into the mountain, leaving the small hobby farms behind, the road getting progressively narrower, eventually forking half way to the ridge with each side's traffic being one way only. "Okay. Want to stop at the look out? Or at the picnic ground? Or at the creek?" he asks as he slowly takes the branch that leads them around the mountainside.

Brookelle looked out the window and smiled a bit. She enjoyed just going out for a drive, taking in the scenery, and getting some fresh air. She enjoyed it even more because she was with her brother who she loved oh so much and actually really enjoyed spending time with. As her brother spoke, she looked at him and shrugged a little. She didn't really care where they went. The point was that they'd have a little quiet time together just to catch up a bit. Then she looked down at her outfit. She still wasn't wearing anything really proper for extreme hiking or going near any sort of water. "Hmmm...uhm...well out of those three choices.... Probably the picnic area," she told him with a little nod.

Smiling to her, he nodded and followed the trail along until it branched down towards the picnic area, and then slowed to a crawl as he drove the steep, rough track to the leveled parking spots. "You can see why they labelled this road a four wheeler only one, can't you? And even with all the signs stating that, we still get calls here every weekend to pull some dumb ass or 3 and their car out." he says, half laughing, half annoyed. "Some of them think having the 'soft roader' style four wheel drive means they can come here. That means things like the Mitsubishi Evo's and the like. Nope. Need the height from SUV's to get in and out with much trouble."

Hopping out and going around to the passenger door, he held his hands out to his sister to help her down, and smiled, "Come on midget," he says, "Got some fun walking tracks to show you, and you can take them in what you're wearing. They aren't designed for hiking, just simple 'going for a walk' type paths so you can spend more time enjoying the scenery and the view than you need to spend watching where you put your feet."

"Sounds like a fun time," she mumbled sarcastically, slowly undoing her seat belt while looking out at the scenery around her. It was pretty and it should be a decent amount of fun to explore. When she heard the midget comment she scrunched up her nose and stuck her tongue out at him. "Hey! We're the same height you know. So you better hush your mouth or I'll do it for you!" she said while taking his hands and hopping out of the truck. Stumbling a little bit with her footing she leaned into her brother for balance. Finally she let go of his hands and slid the up his chest to give herself a light push so she was capable of standing without him. "You know I really wish you had told me to just go and change before we left. We could have done some hiking. You don't need to baby me so much."

Walking past him she took in a deep breath of air and closed her eyes, placing her hands on her hips. "But you're right, it's really nice out her. Good old fresh air and beautiful scenery to match it," she commented while pulling back her hair into a low ponytail with a hairband that had been on her wrist. Pulling up her sleeves she turned back to him with a soft smile and a tilt of her head. "Shall we get going then?"

Shrugging and putting his arms around her for a second, he just smiled as he stepped back to the track. "This is only one of the easier trails, we can come back tomorrow after I finish work if you want to try the harder ones." he tells her as he grins, watching her play with her hair. "I bet I can find a place that will make you speechless. It's not a very well known spot, and it's not easily found, even though it's easy to get to. I also have a concealed stash of things there, things that won't be destroyed by being in the environment or rot from not being eaten straight away."

Taking her along the dirt trail for a minute, he led the way through some trees, causing glimpses of the sky and the distant mountains to vanish occasionally, and sometimes coming close enough to a steep drop that they had fixed large fences into place to stop people slipping over. After almost half an hour of stay quiet, except for the odd word of warning about slippery spots or other hazards, he tells her to follow him behind a burnt out tree stump, and then lifts it up. "Nice and light, just looks heavy. Go down." he says, laughing as he indicated the huge recess beneath the tree, and the winding cave below.

Brookelle, being the klutz that she is, stumbled along the path the whole time. She slipped over the parts he told her to watch out for and occasionally caught her foot on an uplifted root of a tree. But the whole time she never feel. Just a little bit of a scare to make her laugh at herself the whole way along. Once to the stop where he had been leading her to she tilted her head in confusion, her eyebrows coming together. "Do I want to know how you found this and what you have hidden down there?" she asked skeptically.

Slowly moving forward, she stumbled yet again but caught herself on a nearby tree and flinched a little. She took a peak at her hands and small little scrapes, along with some dirt, now replaced her once clean smooth palms. "Owie..." she said for her own comfort rather than because of how much it actually hurt. "Do you really think it's smart for me to try and go down first? If I go first, I wont have you to soften the blow. My pillow will be behind me, and what good is that?" she asked with a smirk as she moved closer to him.

The tree may have been light, but it was starting to get heavy from the effort to keep it lifted, and he soon began to sweat, "Now now, you aren't that much of a clumsy butt. You won't need to have me below you to get down safely, so stop the dawdling, get in there." he laughs, "And I found it easily, I just moved the bit of wood to cover the hole behind the stump. What's down here is nothing bad, I'm sure you'd like it. Just some cans of soda, packets of munchables, and some torches and batteries."

With a small shrug of her shoulders she made her way down into the hole of wonders. She wasn't sure what she'd find but knowing her brother, she knew it wasn't going to be as simplistic as her brother had tried to make it sound. She put her hand on the nearby 'wall' to help guide her way. Taking her steps slowly and carefully, she felt around a bit. "It's getting daaaaaark," she called out to him before finally feeling like she was far enough in and leaning against whatever it was she had been touching, waiting for him to join her again.

Clambering down behind her and letting the piece of old tree come down, leaving them almost in entire darkness, he pulls out his cell and uses the soft light of the screen to light the corner near him. Lifting a rock, he grinned, "Still here." he says as he pulls out the electric replacement for a kerosene lamp and turns it on. Sitting it down, he pulls out a package with some lollies in it. "Energy food. Lots of sugar." he says with a chuckle and tosses it to her. "I come here when I want to think, or just have some peace and quiet."

Quickly she leans forward, catching the lolipop, and laughs a little. "Have I told you just how special you are?" she asks him with a little laugh before unwrapping it and sticking it in her mouth. She looks around, in search of what to do with the wrapper, before shrugging and stuffing it in her bra. "When in doubt, they can be quite useful as pockets," she explained, knowing she'd get some sort of look from him. Now that there was some sort of light she could see where she was going and what she was looking at. She wandered around the little area and sucked on the lolipop, running the candy over her lips before licking it off. "Aww and you decided to share your secret hide out with lil ol' me?" she asked with a wink to him.

Laughing and bending down, he picks up a couple of cans of drink and looks at them, "Lemon squash or cola?" he asks as he walks up to her and then sits down on the dirt. "As to secret, it's not that much of a secret. I've had parties in here. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've seen happen in here."

Looking over at his sister, he smiled a bit and grabbed her hand, pulling her down to the cave floor. "Sit down, you make the place look untidy." he says with a laugh, "Just relax a bit and listen to the sound of nature around us."
