It has been some time since I last constructed one of these; but I find my musings to be tedious and convoluted. Thus I aspire to find an individual to rein in my wanderings to keep me focused on the task at hand. As for what that task is it would be nothing other then the grand design of a setting and plot in which to dabble monstrously.

Now I must toss up a list as I feel it would be best to provide the sources of inspiration for my fantastical whims.

Literature:
Dune by Frank Herbert
Cthulhu Mythos by H.P. Lovecraft
Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey
Prince of Nothing by R. Scott Bakker
Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin
Black Company by Glen Cook
The First Law by Joe Abercrombie
Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
Conan the Cimmerian by Robert E. Howard
Arabian Nights by Unknown
Le Morte De Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory
Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Graphics:
The Ravages of Time by Chan Mou
Metabarons by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Berserk by Kentaro Miura
Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura

Video:
Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno
Gladiator by Ridley Scott
Kingdom of Heaven by Ridley Scott
El Topo by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Pink Floyd The Wall by Pink Floyd and Alan Parker

Philosophical:
The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
Will to Power by Friedrich Nietzsche
Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes
Gnostic Bible by Unknown

Historical:
Roman Empire
Byzantine Empire
Ottoman Empire

Mythological:
Greek
Arabic
Scandinavian

Themes:
Lovecraftian Horror
Byzantine Intrigues
Principles of a Prince
Libertine Fetishes

If this list of things at all intrigues you and you desire a complex setting of realistic divisions along fantastical lines please be sure to contact me.

I do so enjoy mucking about in high fantasy with the most gritty of themes.

Oh wow. Looks like we share a lot of interests--but what do you like to play? I mainly do mxm, my thread is at fig's All Fantasy, All the Time! The stuff that's there is just samples--if nothing intrigues you, PM me with your ideas, or wait a few days, more stuff will surely show up.

*cough* I have a thing for desert settings, particularly if there's high fantasy involved.

Finally, someone else who enjoys Bakker. Three-quarters of the people I recommend him to categorise him as "pretentious arse," and I just don't see it at all...

Should probably note that I'm not into mxm, I do however enjoy lots of sexual tension in general; but it's always nice to find another Bakker lover, I have a few friends that enjoy his works.

Mostly I try to create my ideas around a group orientated storyline as I find that most of my fun comes from interacting with multiple individuals.

If you want to help me set something up though I'm more then willing to do so, so far I've been working on my own setting. This is what I have so far:

Land: Simurgh

Species:
Human - Most numerous and typical inhabitants of Trebizond, they are divided into three tribes: Cathar, Ismailis, Sicarii

Blemmyae - Similar to Humans in almost all regards save one, they posses no head and their faces are located in their upper chest

Jotunn - Monstrous versions of Humans, they tower over all others

Djullanar - Humans of an unusual trait in that they are able live and breath without aid under water

Ghoul - Degenerate version of Humans, little more then beasts these once Humans ate the flesh of their kind and were cursed, they subsists off of rotten flesh

Religion:
Bodhisatta
Kedeshah

Thaumaturgy:
Kundalini
Bayadere
Jalal Rumi

Science:
Syrakousai

Legendary Creatures:
Djinn
Sirin
Simurgh
