The moon was full and he reveled in it. He breathed in the night air and exhaled a firm breath. He felt so much more alive at night, especially when there was a full moon. It glowed on him like it was a warm, motherly presence. He felt the hunter's instinct so keenly now and what was he going to do with it?

"Thanks..." he absently replied to the convenience store clerk as he left with a bag of beers, some snacks, and his favorite hentai and porn mags. As he left, he clipped off a beer and started to drink on it as he walked slowly down the street. He didn't really care with someone stopped him about drinking in public, he felt like drinking right now and it had been a while since he let anyone tell him what to do.

He was tall and slender looking, athletic to be sure, he wasn't without muscle. He looked lithe and in a fight he had speed and swiftness, but a surprising strength just seemed to come out from nowhere. In addition, he had a strength of spirit that others around him could feel. It was imposing and at times, frightening. Small animals seemed to pull away from him and became skiddish around him. Birds would take wing and anything smaller than a large dog would bolt. He didn't expect to see someone he knew from class out here at this hour.

Roxanne was coming down the other side of the street, almost running so that she could stay ahead of the man who was chasing her. Who was the man? Her ex boyfriend who claimed to be still in love with her. He had been waiting outside of her friend's house, waiting for Roxanne to come out and start her walk home, probably with the intention of trying to guilt her into taking him back. Soon he caught up with her, even with her running and grabbed her. Bret wrapped his arms tightly around her to keep her from running away from him. "Come on babe, I said I was sorry for what happened and I said I'll never do it again. Please, will you take me back?" He asked as she struggled in his arms, kicking and screaming as she tried to get away. "Stop struggling." He said, managing to keep his grip on her. "You'll only make yourself tired." He added.

"I don't care!" She almost screamed, dropping her purse to the ground as she struggled against him. "I'm not taking you back and I never will!" She yelled at him, continuing to struggle while he kept his arms wrapped tightly around her. "I said stop struggling, you bitch!" He yelled, clearly beginning to lose his temper. "All you have to do is take me back and we can forget any of this ever happened. We can go back to being like we were.' He said, in an attempt to calm her.

Roxanne just continued to struggle, growing sick of trying to reason with him. "Help! Somebody help!" She screamed, trying to attract the attention of anybody near by that could help her. She was Nineteen years old with Emerald colored eyes that shined like gems when light hit them just right, long, curly hair that was chocolate in color. Tonight she was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans and a purple tank top covered by a leather jacket.

David picked up the commotion and looked towards where it was happening. He sighed a bit, as if it were an annoyance and he started to saunter over towards it. He took one of his cans of beer and with his might, he hurled it towards them, hitting Bret right in the back of the head with it. That should've gotten his attention.

As he entered the area, he set his bag of beer and mags down, looking at the two. "I think you better go on home boy...before I have to mess you up like a bitch." David certainly didn't look like he could take him, he looked too lithe, more like he could outrun him.

When David threw the beer can at Bret's head, Roxanne was still struggling, trying to get away from him. When the can hit his head, though he looked back, distracted, behind the two of them. "Who the hell threw that?!" He yelled, expecting some kind of response. Roxy used the distraction to get out of his grip and was ready to start running away again before David entered the area.

Roxy and Bret both watched as Dave entered the area. She was thankful someone had heard her cries for help and had come while he was pissed off that someone had come. "Why should I listen to you?" Bret asked, clearly thinking that he wasn't going to be much of a challenge. "And why did you come anyway, you don't know her so why waste time trying to save my girlfriend when she doesn't need saving?" He added, making it clear that in his mind Roxanne was still his. Roxanne simply watched the two as this happened.

David laughed for a moment before he stepped towards them, looking at her and then at him. "Look, maybe I'm mistaken, but a woman screaming while a guy is over her sets off alarm bells in my head. Now...if I'm wrong, well then...I'm sure she'll give me the finger soon enough, but I don't think I am. Which makes you an assaulter. And that makes kicking your ass free. Now...last chance, asshole. Either fuck off and you don't get beat, or we can do this the fun way." He cracked his knuckles and stretched a bit. "Well now, how do you want this?"

David had a wild look in his eye like he was anticipating a fight. Expecting one. Even looking forward to it. There was a hungry beast inside him and it wanted this.

Bret watched as David stepped towards him, the scared look in his eye giving away that the way this man was acting was scaring him. "Roxanne, babe, call your boyfriend off." He pleaded with her, backing up as Dave got closer. "Baby, please just call him off." Bret said, almost begging.

Roxanne watched as David stepped closer to the already scared Bret. "He isn't my boyfriend but you might want to listen to him and beat it." She said as she looked at Dave. She too saw the wild look in his eyes, but unlike Bret she wasn't scared by it. "He just seems like the kind of guy that knows you never lay an unwanted hand on a woman and it that case he has a real problem with men like you." She said, glaring at Bret. There was a dark, almost black bruise on Roxy's cheek that she was sure David could see.

Bret looked at David for a few seconds longer as he listened to Roxy speak, but after that quickly spoke. "I'm out of here, dude. I'll never fuck with her again!" He said and with that turned his back and ran, hoping Dave didn't come charging after him.

David watched him go off, letting his instincts die down. The beast in him wasn't easy to placate, especially when his rage was up, but fortunately it was a beast that liked to be lazy too. He looked down at Roxanne and then clipped off one of his beers, offering it to her. "Maybe you shouldn't go home alone tonight...I'll walk you if you don't mind, I like it at night anyways." David seemed perfectly calm now, totally relaxed, if a little apathetic.

Roxy was a bit surprised when he offered her a beer and was a bit hesitant, but gently took the beer from him. "Thank you." She said, smiling at him weakly. Roxanne didn't drink often, things usually had to get pretty bad for her to. Beer wasn't her drink of choice, but after the night she had experienced, she wasn't going to turn it down. "I don't mind." She said with a shrug before taking a few sips of the beer. "I don't want to walk alone right now anyway. By the way, I'm Roxanne, or you can call me Roxy." She said, glancing at him. She decided to take a guess at what he was thinking and thought he might like to know who he had been ready to protect her from. "The guy that was causing me problems, his name is Bret. He's my ex boyfriend and he has it in his mind that we are still together." She said, after explaining she glanced over at him to read his reaction and could see that he was totally relaxed.

He shrugged a bit. "Maybe he'll think I'm your new boyfriend...if I see him bothering you again, I'll kick his ass up and down the street, that ought to convince him. If a stare scares him, I don't think it'll take much physical threatening." He looked at her occasionally as they walked, trying to size her up and see if she was really ok before he would have to leave her. "My name's David."

"Maybe you should get yourself a tazer if he keeps bugging you." He opened a beer and started to drink it, again clearly not concerned with any open bottle law as he walked with her. "So where do you live...?" It felt odd and awkward walking in silence. He decided to make a little chit-chat.

"If he thinks you're my boyfriend he might leave me alone for a bit and when he starts bothering me again I give you full permission to kick his ass." Roxanne said, smiling at David weakly. "Though you don't have to do it, if you don't want to. Nice to meet you." She added and as they walked, she wandered why he had been so willing to help her. Sure, she had screamed out for help, but in this area of town most people didn't think anything of hearing a cry for help outside, especially at night. Roxy just told herself that he was a gentleman and that he was willing to help any woman in distress. Partially to shut her brain and up and partially because she hoped it was true. He did seem like a nice guy, at least to her he did.

"Maybe." She said in agreement with David. "I guess the biggest reason I haven't gotten one is I'm afraid that he will get a hold of it and use it against me, if that makes any sense." Roxy said, feeling a weird need to explain her reasoning to him. There was a few minutes of them walking side by side in silence before Roxy heard him speak again. "Five blocks away." She said. "I went to my friend's house earlier and planned on spending the night there, but when I found out my ex had followed me I just left, I needed to get away from him." She said, visibly shaken by the events of her evening and it was clearly the same thing had happened many times before. Upon replying to him Roxy began to wander what David might have thought of her and found herself wandering if he thought she was crazy.

David nodded slowly, listening to her. "Well, that's your decision to make. No one else can make it for you. I hope you don't think it's presumptuous of me to walk you home, I just wanna make sure he doesn't follow you." He sipped some of his beer. "Just...something about the sight of a guy beating up on a girl like that, it turns my blood into fire. That guy is lucky I held myself back..." He sniffed some and looked at her. "If you want to scare him off for good, we could hang out a bit for the next week or so." He smirked a little slyly. "Maybe lunch tomorrow? If you're free..."

"Hope you don't think my habits are too odd, I just...love the night." He looked up at the moon as he spoke.
