"... and that's what's due first thing monday morning. Whoever I gave a yellow note to at the beginning of class, please stay behind. Any questions?" the big man asked, his eyes scanning the room, holding the gaggle of teens in their seats by the sheer force of his will.
Well that, and the prospect of staying another 15 minutes if they dared leave before they heard the words...
"Then have a nice weekend..."his voice, a deep, raspy baritone, was drowned out in the stamped of students cramming through the door. And could he blame them? The last class of the week, he was suprised he could keep them here this long. A smile flickered across his craggy face as he stood by the door, looming over the kids as they left one by one. He always dressed impeccably, but it was hard not to notice the tall, thickset build he sported under the his suit and tie. He was older, he'd be 48 next year. But a lifetime of physical activity plus good genes meant he still carried that old muscle well.
As the next to last giggly student filed out, he turned from the door, swinging it closed. The very last one stood by his desk, looking up at him with huge green cat's eyes. He stopped for a moment, drinking in the sight of her. She was barely 5 feet tall, pale and slender. She was a little beauty anyway, but her most striking features stood her starkly apart from the rest of her classmates.
She was, for lack of a better word, a felinoid. Her cat like features extended past the twitchy ears poking from her light, pink-tinged hair, and the tail that swayed under her school skirts. It was also present in the way she moved, a graceful slink even her own shy nature couldn't quite hide.
And he had to admit, he was bewitched. He had been from the first time he laid his eyes on her. He knew some of the staff, as well as the student body, was freaked out to various degrees by her appearance, but he thought she was the loveliest thing he had laid his own green gaze upon in all his years teaching.
He tried a reassuring smile, holding his large, weathered hand out for her yellow paper. She was the only student who had received one. "Thank you miss Yuri, I was hoping to talk to you for a moment, away from your classmates" his voice was a rumbly purr.
